‘Sup, y’all? Hope you weren’t adversely affected by the storms that were marching around yesterday! We had some tornadoes in nearby areas – but it really dissipated by the time it reached us – never even got to the “scare Mary” point! Just got a few rumbles of thunder – OBTW, Finn is not afraid of thunder. Huge sigh of relief! – and a nice afternoon of rain. After the rain stopped it was so beautiful outside I just rebelled and opened some windows! I don’t even care if the pollen is still high. I can’t see it, so I’m pretending it doesn’t exist.
So there. 🙂
Before I get going – I saw that the Mini Egg Cartons are back in stock! In plenty of time for your Easter projects. You can get them right here…
Now, my card for today uses a stamp set that I’ve had a bit of a love-hate relationship with. I’ve loved the projects I’ve seen on Pinterest that use it, and I’ve hated every effort I’ve made with it.
Until today! I decided I was just going to….make…it…work for me!
The set I’m referring to is High Tide. And…all of a sudden, it and I just…clicked! And now I love it!
Yea – I change my mind quick-like. That’s how I roll.
So…this card is all stamping and ink. No bling. No fussy cutting. Just a pretty stamp set and a lot of color. Take a look-see:
I know! Right? I DID it! 🙂
I played along with two challenges on this one. The first, from CAS(E) This Sketch, drove the layout…
And the second is the Just Us Girls Word Week challenge.
I started with a simple Whisper White panel. Using the two-step stamp images in the High Tide set, I stamped the first lighthouse image in Real Red on the right side of the panel. Over the top of that, I stamped the second lighthouse image in Smoky Slate.
Next I added some sand – using the sand image first in Crumb Cake and second in Soft Suede, offsetting the images just a tad. I double stamped the “ocean” image, too – first in Pool Party and then (with a little offset) in Marina Mist.
I added the sentiment right over top of the lighthouse in Basic Black Archival Ink.
For the sky, I started with Soft Sky ink and “watercolored” it all over using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush and picking up ink from the lid of the stamp pad. Then I added some Island Indigo in the upper portion of the sky and some Daffodil Delight near the bottom. Easy peasy, and using the Wink of Stella gives the sky a little shine!
Nobody doesn’t like a shiny sky!
The sea grasses around the base of the lighthouse are also from High Tide and I just stamped them all willy and nilly in Old Olive. Finally, I added the birds image in Basic Gray Archival Ink! Then I SNAILd the panel on a mat of Real Red and that was it for the card front!
On the inside, I made some more sand on a Whisper White panel. I stamped it in Crumb Cake and Soft Suede (tip: turn the stamp upside down so that the cutout for the lighthouse is pointing down, then just stamp it on your panel!). I also added a peek of ocean in Pool Party and Marina Mist and a few birds on the ground in Basic Gray Archival Ink. And yes, a few little sea grasses here and there in Old Olive!
I SNAILd the panel to a Real Red mat and into my Basic Gray card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.
My Medium Whisper White Envelope got some more sand and sea and sea birds and sea grasses on the front…
…and I “watercolored” the envelope flap with Soft Sky, Island Indigo and Daffodil Delight using my Clear Wink of Stella. Then I added some Basic Gray Archival Ink birds.
Et Voila! People – I made an ocean scene painting! All by myself! Seriously – I have zero painting talents but this little stamp set helped me make a masterpiece. She says modestly! I’ve gone from “meh” to “oh please please please, SU! – make this one carry over!!” Hope you like! And will get. 🙂

FINN-FAN FIX….
Do y’all have mason bees where you live?
You know the ones I mean – they’re gihugic and move really really slow.
Except for when they zoooooom – and then they’re fast! I love watching them fly!
Well, ours are back for the season!
And Finn met one yesterday!
Actually, he met two.
He was quite fascinated with them. This picture is him watching the second one. I wasn’t quick enough with the camera for the first go – with that one he had his nose pointed straight up in the air! I guess I laughed when I realized what he was staring at so intently – and broke his concentration. So I had to wait for another photo-op!
The bees were almost as intrigued by him as he was of them. They hovered round him for quite a while.
Then they decided he was just a silly goofus and off they went to do bee things.
