Stampin’ Up! Magical Mermaid Memories and More!

Happy happy HAAAAAWWWWMP Day!!  Hope your week is going well!

First the big news, in case you missed it yesterday!  The DAISY PUNCH IS BACK IN STOCK!  Don’t know for how long – hopefully for good, but…I sure wouldn’t hang too long before you snap it up!  Here’s a link to them in my Online Store (don’t forget to add the host code, y’all!!).

Now, you might think I’d have used the Daisy Punch in my card for today, but…that makes way too much sense, doesn’t it? Of course I didn’t use the Daisy Punch.  I used the Magical Mermaid stamp set.  And…a card from the Color Theory Memories & More Card Pack.  Take a look-see:

My layout was inspired – a little loosely, maybe! – by the sketch challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch:

And I also used the photo inspiration at Hand Stamped Sentiments.

I started with a piece of Bundle of Love DSP in Soft Sky and cut a short panel using the scallop die in the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.  Then I cut a piece of Vellum card stock with the scallop die – making it just a little shorter in length.

Using the sea grass image in the Magical Mermaid set, I stamped it in Versamark all across the bottom of the vellum panel.  Then I sprinkled it lightly with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder, shook that off, and filled in the rest with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  It’s not glaringly obvious that I used two colors, but I think it added a little depth.

After I heat embossed the panel, I turned it over and added some Old Olive and Pear Pizzaz behind the embossed images with my Stampin’ Write Markers.  Then I used dots of my Fine-Tip Glue behind the embossed parts of the image (to hide the glue) and adhered it over my Bundle of Love panel.

The sunset is a card in the Color Theory Memories & More Card Pack.  I cut it down to get as much of the sunburst in it as I could.  I did a dry fit with my scalloped panel and then used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add the Magical Mermaid sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  You might notice that’s part of a sentiment.  I cut the words “in you” right off the stamp.

Oh yes I did.  And you can, too!  No one will judge you!  And it’s going to be so much easier to stamp just part of the sentiment.  And – if you just make the cut and don’t trim it up, it’ll go right back together on your block if you want the whole thing! 🙂

I also stamped the small mermaid image in Tuxedo Black.  Finally, I added some sea birds from the High Tide stamp set.

I used Liquid Glue to add the sunburst panel to my Basic Black mat, then I popped the scalloped panel over the mat with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I stamped another little Mermaid in Tuxedo Black on a piece of Whisper White and fussy cut her – then added her with a little Liquid Glue and a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional over the stamped image on the sunburst panel.

I wrapped some Pool Party Solid Baker’s Twine twice around the card front, securing it in the back with scotch tape.  Then I added a couple of strands of Gold Mini Sequin Trim with a Glue Dot.  It’s finished off with a double-length bow, which I added with another Glue Dot.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I just stamped the rest of the Magical Mermaid sentiment in Tuxedo Black on a Whisper White panel.  Over that, I added the bubbles image in Soft Sky.  Then I thought it would be fun to add a little more mermaid – so I stamped a little bit of her in Versamark and heat embossed her in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I lightly colored her tail with Soft Sky, Pink Pirouette and So Saffron Stampin’ Write Markers.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to my Basic Black mat and into a Soft Sky card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

On the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added more Magical Mermaid bubbles in Soft Sky, and a Tuxedo Black mermaid…

…and then I added some gold foil bubble paper from the Bundle of Love DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love the little Magical Mermaid bobbing on the waves, watching the sunset! The sunset I did NOT have to stamp, cuz it was already there for me on a Color Theory Memories & More Card!  How cool!  I definitely used elements from several different stamp sets and dies on this one!  Hope you like!

Finn-Fan Fix

First off – you’ll be glad to know that Finn is fully recovered from his harrowing ordeal yesterday! Thank you all for your well wishes!

This morning, before I could get covered up by work, we had a spa day!  We washed all three horses and…yep.

See the face?  That’s the face that says…”I hate this.  I do wish it didn’t feel so darned good with the warm water and my mom rubbing and scratching me all over.  Cuz I really hate this.  No.  I really really do!”

He so did not hate it!  He leaped out at the end and took great delight in sharing the water with us!  And now he’s all soft and WHITE!

And still some tangles.  But we’re working on those.

Baby steps. 🙂

  1. What a beautiful card Mary! The layers and colors are perfect, love the scallops! And Finn is too funny all soggy…it’s amazing how small they look (at least until they shake all over you!). 🙂

    • Yes – it always cracks me up when he shrinks down – his legs are especially amusing! Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂

  2. Love this card! Where do you get these great ideas??? I take it Finn would rather romp in the pond than get a bath. He looks SO patient with you! 🙂

    • Ha – I don’t know. Mostly these days I’m grateful for any idea that comes to my head!! Thanks to much, Julie! And yes, I do think he prefers swimming to bathing! 🙂

  3. Elisha

What a brilliantly beautiful card! I love everything about it – especially the perfectly snipped mermaid! And I’m so glad Finn has recovered from his bee sting – I’m sure the dreaded bath has helped him forget all about it Lol! Does he get the zoomies after his bath? Our daughter’s dog, Killian, races around like a lunatic after his bath😂

    • Ha – he probably would have but…we kept him on leash so he wouldn’t! I could just see him zooming right into the sand pile!! 🙁 So he had to sit on the golf cart and get blow dried while we finished bathing horses! Thanks so much, Elisha! 🙂

      • Elisha

Oh my – yea a sand “breaded” wet dog would not be good!! Blow dried!?? He really did have a spa treatment!! 😂😂😂

      • Right?!? Not so bueno! His blow-out was sitting in the golf cart in front of the big barn fan. He’s a little a-scared-ed of a real blow dryer! 🙁

  4. This card has the WOW factor written all over it! You have been given a great gift and talent for imagining, designing, creating, writing and loving your fur/hair babies! Wayne is a lucky man!

  5. This is a really cool card, Mary, I love all of the scallops with the mermaid peeking out! Love the layers, too! The inside is so fun with the tail, too!

    • Thanks, Jari – I was kind of tickled when I came up with the tail idea – I’m not usually so…creative! 🙂

  6. RitaR

Karen (floridaperson) sums up beautifully what I was thinking! You’ve been given great gifts, Mary!

  7. Kate

    Beautiful card, Mary.
So glad Finn is recovered…and that your own adrenalin is returning to normal levels after the “big cope”.

  8. Sandra Warthen

Your creativity never ceases to amaze me. Such a beautiful card. Have a blessed day

  10. Susan K

This card is gorgeous! You are so creative. I can CASE it but I’d never think of such a beautiful card! Your use of vellum is perfect. It all came together beautifully! TFS. Glad Finn is okay now and is clean and happy!

    • Oh – that’s sweet, Susan! Thank you so much! And I’m just SURE Finny is tickled to be clean! Dogs LOVE to be clean! 😉
