Good morning, y’all and happy Friday! Hope your week has been great and that you’ve got something fun planned for the weekend. I don’t know about the weekend but TODAY…the children are going to the beauty salon. I assure you I am WAY more excited about that than THEY are. I am certain neither of them is all that interested in going, But..at least ONE of them is pretty stinky. Tip – it’s the little one! 😉
Today’s card ALSO has a critter involved – this time from the new (available on 5 May) and adorable Caring Animals stamp set! I added some new Everyday Essentials Mix & Match DSP to it to make this cool Hidden Flap fun fold birthday card. Take a look-see:
I started by cutting two 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ pieces of Misty Moonlight cardstock.
On one of them, I adhered two 1 1/2″ x 4 1/8″ pieces of the flowerdy Everyday Essentials Mix & Match DSP using Liquid Glue. I placed them on the ends – leaving a normal reveal on the sides, top and bottom.
The second piece of the Misty Moonlight cardstock is the fold mechanism. I scored it at 1 3/8″ and 2 3/4″ on the long side. I folded it into a “z” – with the 1 3/8″ as a mountain and the 2 3/4″ score as a valley.
On the two narrow panels of the fold mechanism, I used Liquid Glue to adhere 1 1/4″ x 4 1/8″ pieces of the plaid Everyday Essentials Mix & Match DSP.
I made the inner liner next by adhering a Darling Duckling sticker/sentiment from the Sincerely Noted Mix & Match Ephemera Pack (coming on 5 May in the new May-Aug 2026 Catalog) on a 2 5/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock. In two corners, I stamped a little leaf from the Caring Animals (available on 5 May in the new catalog) set in Lost Lagoon ink. Then I adhered the panel to the inside of the fold mechanism.
Using Liquid Glue on the back of the folded panel, I adhered it in the center of the card base.
For the back, I adhered a cupcake sticker from the new Meant For You Mix & Match Ephemera Pack on a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock. Then I adhered it to the back of the card base with Liquid Glue.
The pop-out panel on the front starts with the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Caring Animals set stamped in Misty Moonlight ink on a 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ piece of Basic White cardstock.
Using Stampin’ Blends – I colored the lion:
– Light Darling Duckling for the lion’s body, head and ears
– Light & Dark Crisp Cantaloupe for his mane
– Dark Calypso Coral for his nose and tail
– Light Misty Moonlight for the pom-pom on his birthday hat
– Dark Bubble Bath for the birthday hat
I pulled the covers off the balloon sticker from the Meant For You Mix & Match Ephemera Pack and – using my Embossing Buddy – patted the powder all over the adhesive on the sticker so that it would be NOT sticky!
I dry-fitted the panel on the closed front of the card and determined where the top portion of the balloon sticker could go without extending past the top of the card base. Then I cut the sticker into two parts and adhered the balloons section to the back of the panel at the top. I did the same with the bottom portion – the strings – and adhered it – being sure it wouldn’t extend past the BOTTOM of the card front!
I adhered the art panel – with the balloons in place – to a 2 5/8″ x 3 5/8″ piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I put Liquid Glue on the outside left-most flap of the Z-fold and adhered the completed panel – centering it on the card base.
I added a few Darling Duckling 2025-2027 In Color Flat Pearls and the card was done!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Caring Animals leaf a few times in Lost Lagoon on the front…
…and more Everyday Essentials Mix & Match DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! This little stand-alone Caring Animals stamp set is just so cute – and great for thank you, birthday and get well card needs! And don’t relegate it to the “kid card” section, either! I think it would be cute for ANYONE – and bring them a smile. The Mix & Match products – Everyday Essentials DSP, and the Sincerely Noted and Meant for You Ephemera Packs are designed to work together – they each have similar colors in them so…instant images, sentiments and color coordination!
