Stampin’ Up! Delightful Wishes Mixed Media Florals Birthday for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop.  We’ve got a color challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table.  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

Our colors today made us think Mixed Media Florals DSP so…I pulled it out as a starting point.  But then I took a detour and used the Delightful Wishes bundle with it to make a birthday card!  Take a look-see:

And – here’s our color palette!

I did a quick video on how to make this cool card, which is posted on Instagram.  If you’d like to give that a watch – click here!

I started by matting a piece of Mixed Media Florals DSP on Flirty Flamingo for the card front.  I adhered a second piece – in Boho Blue – on Flirty Flamingo and adhered it to the card front with more Liquid Glue.

Using the Delightful Wishes dies – I cut out three solid Basic White flowers and the coordinating detailed “petals” dies that go with them.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere the pieces together to create the pretty layered flowers.

I used the dies again to cut out a Granny Apple Green branch/stem and the four pieces (2 solid and 2 detail) for the leaves.  I layered up the leaf dies using Liquid Glue.

I snipped off the bottom inch or so of the die cut stem and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.  Then I placed the flowers and leaves in position and used them as a guide to stamp the little splatter image from Delightful Wishes three times in Boho Blue ink.

Using Stampin’ Dimensionals – I adhered the leaves and flowers in place on the stem.

I tied a bow from two lengths of Flirty Flamingo baker’s twine and adhered it with a little Liquid Glue.

I inked just the “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” portion of the Delightful Wishes sentiment in Flirty Flamingo ink and stamped it on a strip of Daffodil Delight cardstock.  Then I snipped an angle on both ends of the strip.

I adhered the sentiment over the bow using double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals, added a champagne Drusy Adhesive-backed Embellishment to each flower and the card front was done.

On the inside, I inked part of the stem image from Delightful Wishes in Granny Apple Green and stamped it in the corner of a Basic White panel.  Then I added a couple of leaves in Granny Apple Green.  The flower is a two-step – I stamped the full image in stamped-off-once Daffodil Delight and then stamped the detailed image in full strength Daffodil Delight ink.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of my Daffodil Delight card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Delightful Wishes flower on the front…

…and more of the Mixed Media Florals DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  The Mixed Media Florals DSP has SO many gorgeous – and colorful! – designs, it’s really hard to choose one (or even two!) to use!  But there’s ALSO some solid colors and the black-and-white floral designs – and they’re a great addition to your projects, too!  The black and white floral I picked made for a great starting point for this pretty spray of simple Delightful Wishes flowers – resulting in a beautiful way to send birthday wishes to someone special!
