Stampin’ Up! Splendid Autumn Leaves Window Z-Fold with Video for Creative Creases #89

Good morning, y’all – and…happy Friday!  Doesn’t Friday feel wonderful!?  The WHOOOOLLLEEEE weekend is in front of you!  Hope you’ve got something fun planned!

Before I get rolling – some of you have asked, so I wanted to let you know that I will NOT be doing Product Shares for the new mini catalog.  One of teammates, Tara Carpenter, WILL have shares for you – so…check those our right here!

Okay – speaking of papers – I used one of my faves from the new Sept-Dec 2024 Mini Catalog – called Splendid Autumn to make a very cool fun fold card – it’s a Window Z-fold card!  And – I decorated it with the Autumn Expressions stamp set – and the Autumn Leaves stamp set and coordinating dies!   Take a look-see:

Stampin' Up! Splendid Autumn Leaves Window Z-Fold with Video for Creative Creases #89 - Stamps-N-Lingers

You’ll see this card – along with the other Design Team members’ cards –  at this week’s Creative Creases Challenge!  I hope you’ll come and join us!

My color palette is from the Sunday Stamps challenge this week!

This fold is pretty popular but…I got my inspiration from a card I saw from Linda Schnabel!

I used the cool grasses image from the new Autumn Expressions stamp set – coming on 4 Sept in the new Mini Catalog – to stamp several times in Mossy Meadow ink across the bottom of a Splendid Autumn 6″ x 6″ DSP panel.

Using Liquid Glue – I adhered the panel to the front of my Moody Mauve card base.  NOTE:  don’t fold the card yet and….keep your adhesive on the outer edges of the DSP panel – NOT in the middle – you’ll see why in a second! 🙂

Using the largest Stylish Shapes circle die, I cut a circle from the middle of the front of the card base – DSP panel and all.  Since I didn’t use any adhesive in the middle – I was able to separate the die cut Moody Mauve circle and the die cut DSP circle for use later on in the card.

I made the z-fold piece next, scoring a 5 1/4″ x 8″ piece of Basic White cardstock at 4″ and 6″ on the long side.  I folded the 4″ score line as a valley and the 6″ score line as a mountain.

Using the little die in the Autumn Leaves die set, I “embossed” the stitches in the larger side of the panel – once in the bottom left and a second time in the top right corner.  Note: you use the regular “die cut” sandwich in the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine with this die – and it cuts little “stitches” into the cardstock.

I stamped a sentiment from Autumn Leaves in Moody Mauve and then stamped a leaf over the top in Crushed Curry.  I added some doodle-dots with my Moody Mauve Stampin’ Write Marker.

I adhered a piece of Azure Afternoon paper from the Splendid Autumn DSP on a Moody Mauve mat and adhered it to the narrow panel on the right side of the z-fold panel.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the entire panel to the inside of the card base.

Now – if you watch the video below – and I hope you will! – you’ll see I did a little something different on that one.  I used that die cut DSP circle and stamped a sentiment from Autumn Expressions in Moody Mauve on it – then adhered it to the inside panel.

I sorta made an error though – so…if you do that version – adhere the circle so that’s it’s totally hidden when the z-fold is closed…unlike mine.  You can do that if you adhere that circle AFTER you put the decorated circle on the front.  Unlike me.  🤷‍♀️

Anywhooooo.  To decorate the front circle, I used the next-to-largest Stylish Shapes circle die to cut out a piece of Wood Textured Specialty Paper.  I colored it with a Small Blending Brush and Basic Beige ink.   Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere it to the Moody Mauve circle that I’d cut from the card front.

I used the Autumn Leaves set to cut out two Crushed Curry leaves and one Moody Mauve leaf and adhered them to the circle with Liquid Glue.  Note:  do NOT let the leaves – or anything!! – extend PAST the edges of the large circle or…your card’s not gonna open and close!! 🙂

I tied a little bow with Linen Thread and adhered it with a bit of Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Autumn Expressions sentiment in Moody Mauve.  Then I cut it out with the label die from the Autumn Leaves die set and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added some Blackberry Bliss gems from the new Regal Foiled Adhesive-backed Gems (in the new catalog so look for them on 4 Sept!).

To adhere the circle, I closed the card up and put Liquid Glue JUST on the exposed part of the z-fold mechanism that was visible, being careful to not get too close to the edge of the opening.  Then I set the decorated circle in place – and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Autumn Leaves leaf stamped in Crushed Curry  – and doodle-dotted with the Moody Mauve Stampin’ Write Marker – on the front…

…and more of the Splendid Autumn 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

For the video card –  I stamped the Autumn Expressions grass image a few times in Mossy Meadow – and ALSO doodle-dotted them – on the front of that envelope.  I think I love this version even more – but….you pick YOUR fave!

Et Voila!  Well this Splendid Autumn 6″ x 6″ DSP is undoubtedly gorgeous – and I love being able to pair it with stamp sets and dies that weren’t made to “go” with it, don’t you?!  The Autumn Leaves stamp set and dies – from the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog – is one of my all-time faves!  And the Autumn Expressions stamp set is wonderful as well – and you’re going to want it when it becomes available on 4 Sept!

Finn Fan Fix

Y’all – Finn and I wanted to take a second to tell you about a great chance to raise funds for a cause we BOTH believe in!  We all know that dogs are SO good for people, and when I heard about a fundraiser to benefit Retrieving Freedom – a organization that trains Service dogs for Veterans and Autistic children – we were all in!

And – along the way – there’s a chance to make this gorgeous quilt – designed by my friend and teamie, Julie Johnston – YOURS!  The bird photos on this picture aren’t all the birds you’ll see on the actual quilt – there are 14 different species on the real life quilt – one for each quilt!

Julie not only designed this beauty – she TOOK and provided the fourteen bird photos featured in the blocks.  Here’s a close-up of one of the squares!

Here’s the deets:

–  Tickets are $1 each and you can purchase as many as you wish

–  The quilt measures about 61″ x 73″

– The quilt was “commissioned” by the Grand Chapter of Iowa Order of the Eastern Star

–  Julie designed the quilt using symbols and colors chosen by the Worthy Grand Matron, Mary Reicks, and Worthy Grand Patron Joe Ried

–  One of the symbols is songbirds, so she took photos of 14 Iowa songbirds, printed them on fabric, and wove them into the design
–  The other major symbol is bicycles and fabric incorporating them is part of the field of the quilt

If you’d like to purchase tickets to support this great cause – AND maybe win that quilt! – please send Julie an e-mail at: jg441157j5x@natel.net
