Good morning from Houston! We’re having a great time – yesterday’s main session was informative and….CATALOG! Whoo-hoo!! And then last night we went to dinner and then came back for a new happening – the OnStage After Hours session! It was like a giant make-and-take! We all got to make sample cards from a new bundle in the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog. I chose the Spotlight on Nature bundle – love the foliage AND the circle dies! I’ll be sharing some pics of what we all put together tomorrow – so…be sure to check back! 🙂
For today – I’ve got a fun fold for you for this week’s Creative Creases challenge! I went with the Simply Zinnia bundle (again!) and gorgeous Flowering Zinnias DSP to make a Flip Front Card (modeled after the card that my teammie Terry Lynn Bright showed us at our team meeting last weekend). Take a look-see!
I also pulled a color palette from this week’s Paper Players color challenge.
You’ll see this card – along with the other Design Team members’ cards – at this week’s Creative Creases Challenge! We’re all about the Fun Folds and I hope you’ll come and join us!
I started with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Basic Black cardstock and scored it at 2 1/8″ and again at 5 1/2″. I marked the middle point on the short end (closest to the 2 1/8″ score line). Then I cut a point – cutting from that mid-point to the 2 1/8″ score line.
I folded and burnished the two score lines – the 2 1/8″ as a mountain fold and the 5 1/2″ as a valley.
I matted two pieces of the Flowering Zinnias DSP on Petal Pink and then adhered them to the small front panel…
…and small inside panel.
I cut a piece of Petal Pink Flowering Zinnias DSP using the largest Stylish Shapes square die cut. This would be the decorated diamond on the front.
Using the dies in the Simply Zinnia set, I cut some foliage:
– Solid flower piece from Berry Burst Glimmer Paper.
– Detailed flower and flower center from White Glimmer Paper.
– Second flower (using the other detailed flower die in the set) from Daffodil Delight cardstock.
– Leaf and Leaf/stem from Old Olive Glimmer Paper.
I assembled the flower using Liquid Glue.
I closed the card and then adhered the Stylish Shapes square (rotated to be a diamond) to the point on the card base – using Liquid Glue just on the LEFT side of the back of the square.
I adhered the two single leaves to the die cut square with Liquid Glue then adhered the flower over the top.
I tied a simple Linen Thread bow and adhered it with a little dab of Liquid Glue.
On a strip of Basic White, I stamped the Simply Zinnia sentiment in Berry Burst ink. Then I matted it on Basic Black and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I adhered the last stem/leaf die cut with a little Liquid Glue – pulling the leaf up and onto the sentiment.
A few Iridescent Foil Gems finished off the card front.
For the inside, I stamped a second Simply Zinnia sentiment in Berry Burst on a piece of Basic White. Then I stamped the zinnia in the corner in Flirty Flamingo and colored it with my Petal Pink and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. One pretty Iridescent Foil Gem finished it off.
I adhered the sentiment to the left side of a Petal Pink mat, added a small Flowering Zinnia DSP panel to the right side and then adhered it into the back of the card base – all with Liquid Glue. And the card was done!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Simply Zinnia flower in Flirty Flamingo, Petal Pink and Daffodil Delight on the front…
…and more Flowering Zinnias DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! I’ll tell you what – when you have a pack of paper with as many gorgeous designs as the Online Exclusive Flowering Zinnias DSP – then a fun fold like this one is the perfect choice! So much real estate to decorate! Add in the gorgeous Simply Zinnia bundle with sweet flower images AND great sentiments, a little shimmer and shine from the Berry Burst, Old Olive and White Glimmer Paper and…this is a card that ANYONE would love to get!
I hope you like!
