Stampin’ Up! Inspirational Sketches and Lavender Thank You Card

Happy Happy Hawwwmp Day, y’all!  Hope your week is going well – heck, it’s half over already!  I used to LOVE short weeks! 😎

My card today showcases a pretty stamp set – one I just now pulled off my shelf! – it’s called Inspirational Sketches and I used it to do a little emboss resist technique.  And then I added some foliage from the Painted Lavender die set.  Take a look-see:

The colors for this were inspired by the Mood Photo from this week’s Just Us Girls challenge.

I started by using the next-to-largest Deckled Rectangle die to cut out a piece of Pretty Peacock paper from the Painted Lavender DSP.  I adhered the panel to the front of a Thick Basic White card base using Liquid Glue.

I used the same Deckled Rectangle die to cut a panel from Basic White cardstock.

Then, in Versamark Ink, I stamped the pretty flower image from the Inspirational Sketches stamp set all over the die cut panel,  Then I sprinkled it with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool.

When the embossing was cool, I used Blending Brushes to add Azure Afternoon, Blackberry Bliss and Lost Lagoon ink on the die cut panel.  When I had it as dark as I liked, I used a paper towel to wipe the ink off the embossed images.  That’s it – that’s the Emboss Resist technique – right there.  The embossing “resists” the ink – allowing the cardstock underneath to show thru.  Cool, huh?

I adhered the embossed panel to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Using the dies in the Perennial Lavender die set, I cut three Blackberry Bliss cardstock leaves and two larger leaves from the same Pretty Peacock Painted Lavender DSP.

I adhered the leaves to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I used some Glue Dots to add a loop-d-loop of Pretty Peacock & Gold 3/8″ Metallic Ribbon.

On a piece of Basic White, I stamped an Inspirational Sketches sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink.  I cut it out with the smallest Deckled Rectangle die.

I used double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment over the loop-d-loop of ribbon.

Finally, I added some Purple Fine Shimmer Gems and the card front was done.

On the inside, I used a Blending Brush to ink up the Inspirational Sketches flower stamp in Lost Lagoon ink (another way to ink a stamp – giving you a different look!) and stamped it in the corner of a Basic White panel.  I added some more Purple Fine Shimmer Gems.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pretty Peacock mat and into the Thick Basic White card base and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Lost Lagoon flower on the front…

Et Voila!  This is just ONE of the pretty images in the Inspirational Sketches stamp set and…I love it!  And – what do you think of the Emboss Resist technique?  It’s a fun thing to play with – especially when you have a lovely image to work with!  The foliage from the Painted Lavender die set is so pretty – and adds just the right touch to your card!

An Update on Our Basics Embossing Powders

Y’all may have noticed that the Basics Embossing Powders (Item #155554) pack is no longer available in the Online Store.  So – I figured I’d let you know the scoop!

A while back, Stampin’ Up! made the decision to switch manufacturers of our Basics Embossing Powders.  When they started it, it looked like they’d have plenty of inventory to last through the end of the 2023–2024 Annual Catalog sales period.  BUT – y’all have been REALLY LOVING the powders – and we sold out WAY faster than anticipated.

Since we couldn’t re-stock….the end result, is the discontinuation of item 155554.

The good news is – they’ll re-introduce the Basic Embossing Powders in the upcoming 2024-2025 Annual Catalog (under a new item number).

The BAD NEWS IS….  unfortunately – they anticipate that the new embossing powders will not arrive until Fall.  Which means – you’ll see the powders in the new catalog when it comes out in May…. but you won’t be able to purchase them until they arrive.

Sorry for the bummer news and….thanks for being patient with us!!

Okay – I think I’ve got the dry-the-dog towels and the wipe-the-dog-feets rug arranged just right, Mom.

  1. Amy Koenders

Such a pretty card! Love the colors and the embossed images are beautiful! Great design! And I think that the one corner of the rug needs to be tucked just a little more and then it will be cookie worthy. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

I see it – and we’ll work on perfecting the final product! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. Gorgeous card, Mary! I love the emboss resist technique and the colors you used are so pretty together!

Finn, you’re such a good helper!

    • stampsnlingers

He is, isn’t he!? And interior designer, to boot! Thanks, Carol! 🙂

  3. GORGEOUS! The card, I mean, not the rug and towels. He could have been a little neater with the rug in order to earn that cookie, but I bet he got one anyway. Love this card and will probably CASE.
    Thanks for sharing your talents.

    • stampsnlingers

Well – yeah, he DID get a cookie. I suspect you’re not surprised. Thank you so much, Julie! 🙂
