Stampin’ Up! Bee Mine Heartfelt Hexagon for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop.  We’ve got a color challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table.  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

Our color palette this week aimed me at the Bee Mine DSP – not a hardship to use it again!  It is SO cute!  I paired it with the Heartfelt Hexagon bundle to make a card for a special day.  I made it as a birthday card but…I think it would also work for all sorts of occasions that need celebrating!  Take a look-see:

And – here’s our color challenge.  We needed to use three but…being the teacher’s pet that I am…I used them all! 😎

I started by adhering a piece of the Bee Mine DSP on a Sweet Sorbet mat for the card front.

Using Glue Dots to secure it in the back, I adhered a length of Sweet Sorbet 1/4″ Bordered Ribbon around the matted panel.

I matted a second piece of the Bee Mine DSP on Sweet Sorbet and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Heartfelt Hexagon sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Around it, I stamped one of the two border images in Sweet Sorbet ink – then I punched it out with the bundled Heartfelt Hexagon Punch.

I stamped the sentiment again – this time in Lemon Lime Twist ink – on a piece of Basic White – then I used Paper Snips to carefully cut out the “You” oval.

I adhered the fussy cut word over the sentiment (covering up the black version) with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

I adhered the punched sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Then I tied a small bow from the Sweet Sorbet 1/4″ Bordered Ribbon and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

I added some Pool Party hearts from the Adhesive-backed Hearts & Flowers pack and the card front was done!

On the inside, I inked part of a second sentiment from Heartfelt Hexagon in Tuxedo Black ink and stamped it on a Basic White panel.  Then I cleaned the stamp, inked just the word “Joy” in Lemon Lime Twist and stamped it into place.  Tip:  I used a sticky note to cover/protect the panel (over the stamped sentiment) just in case there was any residual black ink on the stamp!  Then I stamped the little flower from the set in Tuxedo Black and colored them with my Petal Pink and Pool Party Stampin’ Write Markers.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Sweet Sorbet mat and into my Pool Party card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Heartfelt Hexagon flowers on the front…

…and more flowerdy paper from the Bee Mine DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! I love the Bee Mine DSP – it’s so bright and cheery – and WAY usable even WITHOUT a buzzy bee anywhere on your card!  And the Heartfelt Hexagon set is super versatile – covering sympathy cards as well as celebrations!

  6. Clever way to do the ‘YOU’. I love this card, and not sure which I like the most….the little pool party hearts, the way you did the ribbon, or the plaid DSP over the flowered one. Great card.
