Stampin’ Up! Cottage Wreaths Swing Card Thanks with Video Tutorial

Good morning and happy Friday!  Yep – it’s the cusp of the weekend again!  Hope you’ve got something fun planned.  I’ll be spending part of tomorrow at our Stampin’ Up! OnStage @Home Event!  Yeah!  And…I get a sneaky peek at the new Jan – April 2024 Mini and Jan-Feb 2024 Sale-a-Bration Catalogs!  Whoo-hoo!  I can’t share what I see yet but…I WILL get to Pre-Pre-Order so you MIGHT start to see some projects using new goodies in the next couple of weeks! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

My card today is another fun fold – I’ve seen it called a Swing card but…🤷‍♀️. I got the idea from one of the cards we made at our retreat last week – my teammie Susan Kuenzel brought it for us to play with.  Mine isn’t a Christmas card like hers was – instead I went with a Fall theme – using the Cottage Wreaths stamp set and coordinating Country Wreaths dies.  And…some pretty Meandering Meadows DSP from the Online Exclusives.  Take a look-see:

I played along with The Paper Players‘ Theme challenge!

I started with a 5 1/2″ x 10 1/4″ piece of Pecan Pie cardstock that I scored at 1 1/4″, 3″ and 6″ on the long side.  The I folded the 6″ fold “normally” (like a regular card), the 3″ fold the opposite direction and the 1 1/4″ fold the other way (so – the same way as the first fold).

I matted two pieces of Meandering Meadows 6″ x 6″ DSP on Petal Pink cardstock using Liquid Glue, then adhered them to the larger front panel and the inside small panel.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped a sentiment from the Cottage Wreaths set in Pecan Pie ink.

I made my wreath on the front and the leaf image that’s on the inside and the front of the envelope flap using the Baby Wipe Technique.  I put a baby wipe inside an old stamp case – optional, but you’ll want it on a moisture-resistant spot – and dropped drops of Petal Pink Re-inker (I wanted this as my predominant color), then some drops of Daffodil Delight and then a FEW drops of Pumpkin Pie Re-inker.

Using that as my “ink pad” I inked and stamped the small leaf image from Cottage Wreaths over the sentiment.  Then I cleaned the stamp and stamped the front of my Basic White Medium Envelope.  I also inked the full leafy image from Cottage Wreaths and stamped it on Basic White cardstock. Then I stamped the twig wreath image over the top in Pecan Pie ink.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the Basic White sentiment panel and another piece of the Meandering Meadows DSP to a Petal Pink mat and then onto the large inside back panel of the card base.

I cut out the wreath using the coordinating die in the Country Wreaths die set.

I embossed two strips of Pecan Pie cardstock in the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing.

I adhered the larger strip to the small front panel on the card base using Liquid Glue.

I stamped a second Cottage Wreaths sentiment and a tiny acorn in Pecan Pie ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock and matted it on a piece of the Meandering Meadows DSP using Liquid Glue.

I used a hole punch to punch a hole in the second – shorter – embossed strip – about 1/2″ below the top.  I actually punched one hole and then made the hole a little bigger by punching again.  Tip: if you have a 1/2″ Circle Punch – use that instead!

I stuck a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional onto the card base – if you look at the picture above – imagine the dimensional right behind the middle of the sentiment. 😉

I set the embossed strip onto the card front – with the hole I’d punched right over the Mini Dimensional.  Then I removed the cover from the Dimensional – and used it to adhere the matted sentiment.  That’s made the Swing element – that shorter piece now swings freely from side to side! 😎

Using Liquid Glue on the top and bottom of the wreath, I adhered it to the free-swinging embossed strip – tucking it just under the sentiment.

I stamped three little acorns in Pecan Pie ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock.  Then I used the Country Wreaths dies to cut them out, plus three Distressed Gold leaves – and one Petal Pink bow.

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the bow and Liquid Glue to adhere the three Distressed Gold leaves to the wreath.  Then I added the acorns with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added some Neutrals Adhesive-backed Sequins – and the card was done!

I’d already stamped the small Cottage Wreaths leaf on the front of my Basic White Medium Envelope…

…so I added some Meandering Meadows DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  How fun is this Swing card?!  I love it – and I love it with the Meandering Meadow DSP and some decoration from the Cottage Wreaths stamp set and Country Wreaths Dies.

Finn Fan Fix

Wayne and Finn did some equipment and “stuff” loading the other day for a job he (Wayne) has going on.

They each have a role in the process – and they both take it very seriously.

Finn’s is a more supervisory role – Wayne takes care of the hands-on…

Which…should be reassuring for anyone who sees them on the road!  🤙🤙🤙
