Stampin’ Up! Translucent Florals Sneak Peek Card with Video Tutorial

Good morning! I hope you’re having a great weekend and staying cool! It’s hot as a mo here – but at least the smoke has pretty much cleared out!  And the storms have stayed north of us – at least they did yesterday!

My card today is a blend of sneak peeks!  I pulled out some of the gorgeous new One Horse Open Sleigh 6″ x 6″ DSP – which will be available to customers as an Online Exclusive on 6 July (along with some OTHER new Online Exclusives that you’re going to want to see!).  And – a new bundle!  The Translucent Florals is a brand new bundle – and IT will be in the Sept – Dec 2023 Mini Catalog!!  Take a look-see:

The layout and elements were inspired by the Global Design Project CASE the Founders challenge this week!

I started out by stamping the pretty Translucent Florals (coming to you in the Sept – Dec 2023 Mini Catalog on 6 Sept!) flowers and leaves on two designs of the Vellum Basics Specialty DSP.

On the front side of the dotted vellum, I stamped two large and two small flowers in Flirty Flamingo ink and one each in Melon Mambo.  On the front side of the leafy vellum, I stamped two large leaves in Granny Apple Green.  Then I set them aside to dry. Tip: be careful stamping on vellum – the stamp can slide around a bit!  And – it takes the ink a hot minute to dry – so you can use your Heat Tool on the low setting to hurry it along! 🙂

While they dried, I matted a piece of the dark wood-grain paper from the One Horse Open Sleigh 6″ x 6″ DSP (coming on 6 July – so…not TOO far away!) on Flirty Flamingo for the card front.

I cut the largest Stylish Shapes square die from a lighter piece of woodgrain One Horse Open Sleigh 6″ x 6″ DSP and matted it on Flirty Flamingo.

I wrapped a piece of Linen Thread twice around the panel – tying a knot in the front.  I used the tails to secure a Half-Double-Loop Linen Thread bow.  Tip: a “half” Double Loop bow – means I wrapped the thread TWICE instead of FOUR times when making the bow. 🙂

I stamped three Translucent Floral twigs in Pretty Peacock on the same light woodgrain DSP and cut them out with their coordinating Translucent Florals dies.

Once the vellum flowers were good and dry, I cut them all out with their coordinating Translucent Florals dies.

Then I turned them all over and colored the BACK of the vellum – I colored all the flowers with the Dark Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blend and the two leaves with the Dark Parakeet Party Stampin’ Blend.

I used my Bone Folder to curl all the die cut flowers – then used Glue Dots to adhere the small flowers to the front of the large flowers – giving me three double-layer flowers.

Using Liquid Glue on all the leaves and Glue Dots on the flowers, I adhered all the elements onto the card front.

On yet another bit of the light woodgrain One Horse Open Sleigh DSP, I stamped the Translucent Florals sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink and cut it out with a Stylish Shapes label die.

I used double stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment onto the card front.

I added some coppery Neutrals Adhesive-backed Sequins and the card was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Translucent Florals sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink on a Basic White panel.  Over the top, I stamped the smaller flower in stamped-off-once Flirty Flamingo.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Flirty Flamingo mat, then into my Pretty Peacock card base and to adhere the card front and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the large flower in Flirty Flamingo on the front…

…and more of the dark woodgrain One Horse Open Sleigh 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  So…not going to blow smoke up your flight suits, y’all – when I first saw this new bundle I was…underwhelmed.  But – then we got to see some beautiful samples at our SU Creativity Now event last weekend.  And then I made this card – and got to see the images and dies in person and…well.  I am officially a fan!  The Translucent Florals flowers are so delicate and pretty (I LOVE them on the vellum!) and the dies in the set cut out all the images and more!  It’s also got a really nice choice of sentiments for your different “occasion” needs! I can’t wait for you to get this bundle when it’s available in September!

Finn Fan Fix

So – we thought we’d come thru Friday’s sorta-storm unscathed.  But…when Wayne went to get a package at the gate on Friday afternoon….

One tree.  Took dead aim on both sides of the driveway.

Fortunately – Miss Cady hadn’t found the sorta-hole in the fence.  I am SURE she’d have boinged right over it.  Cuz…that’s how she rolls! 🤷‍♀️

But – she didn’t.

And – Wayne has the tools and the know-how, so…by lunch time on Saturday – he was done.

The Man (the furry one) and I went to get the mail and check on the work (gotta do that) later in the afternoon.

I TRIED to tell him that 92 was WAY too hot for fur-buckets but, like teens everywhere, he just rolled his eyes to let me know I’m not very bright!

Half way up the driveway, I do believe he was re-thinking that. He trailed me all the way.

One might even call what he was doing…trudging…

But – he made it.

And the work was done and fence back up!

Back to the house – he found his second wind.  He led the way all the way back to the house.

A dog on a mission.

Mission complete!  Time to soak up some air conditioning!

  1. It’s just amazing how you can take a stamp set I have no desire to own, make a gorgeous card with it and then, like magic, I can’t wait to order it! It was nice to know you were underwhelmed at first too. Wayne is a man of many talents…good thing with all that property. I’m glad Cady didn’t find that spot. Do you think she would have gone far? That was an interesting clip on trudging. Glad Finn had his fur coat on cuz I don’t think he’d look so handsome nekkid…lol! Hope y’all have a blessed Sunday
