Well, shoot-fire, y’all! By the time this posts in US-time, we’ll be on a flight winging our way back home! My goodness – what a trip this was – Norway was simply gorgeous! And spending the time with Amy and Lance was wonderful as always!
But…no lie – I’m ready to see my Finn and Cady!! And some less “fun” food won’t go amiss, either! 🙂
Stavanger – our last stop – was the largest of the ports. It was a fishing town to start and then became an oil town when petroleum was discovered and – almost literally! – saved Norway!
Near the pier are clusters of old houses that are really pretty and quaint – they’ve been kept up to honor the tradition of the wooden homes! They were the original homes of the fishermen and their families who lived here.
We started with a bit of a walk-about – I’d say we had no destination but…in fact, we were headed to the Chili Chocolate shop that Amy found on her phone. We were determined to get some Norway chocolate – even if we did NOT get to go into Geranger!
Success!
We each picked 6 pieces and yes, yes they were yummy!
A little more strolling around the town area near the pier revealed a pretty and clean city – with history right in its midst!
This watch tower was erected to watch for fires in the town – remember all the wooden houses? There was a big fire in 1272 that destroyed their original wooden Cathedral and damaged many homes as well.
And – once again – more signs of the United States!
Next, we hopped on a double-decker bus and took a little tour of the city.
It’s very clean and pretty – and there are more flowers than I anticipated this far north!
We also checked out the petroleum museum – the unexpected discovery of huge oil deposits at the Esofisk field in 1969 changed the fortunes of Norway forever!
As with all our stops, the ginormous Anthem of the Seas was visible from pretty much anywhere – making it a handy navigational beacon! And – we were feeling a bit peckish and in need of a nap so…back to our home-for-a-week we went!
And this little guy was waiting when we got back to our stateroom! And luggage tags! Waaaaaaaaaa! 🙁
We ported out just before dinner – signaling the beginning of the end of the trip – and spied some cool islands on the way out to sea!
After dinner, as the sun began to set on Friday evening…
…we headed to the theater to watch the We Will Rock You show – which is a rock-opera revolving around the band Queen and their library of songs. It was truly a wonderful show – well scripted and choreographed and the kids in the cast could really sing! The lead did a very very credible Freddie Mercury for the last number – Bohemian Rhapsody! They had the whole audience clapping and singing along. I mean – who can KEEP from singing along to Queen?!?
After the show, we headed to the Stampin’ Up! Farewell Party where we chatted with other demos and their families – and got a chance to take a picture with Sara and thank her for a most wunnermus vacation! She’s so gracious and willing to do pictures with all of us – I’m sure she was whooped by the end of the night!!
So there it is, y’all! Incentive 2023 is in the books and was just as wonderful as all the others. I hope you’ve enjoyed this peek at Norway – and know how very much I appreciate all the help and support you’ve given me to help me earn this vacation! Thank you thank you thank you!
Tomorrow – we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled programming! 😉

P.S. Stampin’ Up! tells me that have to let you know – that not many demonstrators earn the incentive trip – it’s actually fewer than 1% – which means my results aren’t typical! Okay. Done! 😉
