Good Sunday morning, y’all! Hope your weekend is going well – mine has been a cooking frenzy. No – NOT Christmas cookies – not quite yet! Instead – I made another loaf of sourdough bread – the best recipe YET! It’s tangy like sourdough – but…soft like all our favorite sandwich breads! FINALLY – I found the right recipe! And – we smoked the turkey and got it prepped for sandwiches and turkey stock. The brisket is on the smoker for a few more hours so we can replenish the stash in the freezer. Sourdough crackers. Sourdough Blueberry Chocolate Chip muffins. Yes – the starter was a busy boy this weekend! 🙂 If you’re wanting to start a sourdough starter – or just looking for recipes – The Pantry Mama is an OUTSTANDING source!
And – I am totally sure that sourdough recipes is why you’re here, right?!? 😂😂
I am betting not so…let’s get going! My card today sports one of my favorite fun folds – an easel on a side (aka book!) fold card! I made it as an Anniversary card – using the Ringed with Nature Bundle and the new Dainty Delight bundle from the upcoming Jan – Apr 2023 Mini Catalog. And – the paper I used is one you’ll be able to get for FREE during Sale-a-Bration with a $100 order – called Dandy Designs DSP! Take a look-see:
I started with a basic side-fold card – a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Soft Suede cardstock, scored at 5 1/2″ and 6 3/4″ on the long side. Then I scored the 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ portion on the diagonal.
I folded the 5 1/2” score line as a “mountain” and at the 6 3/4” score in the opposite direction. Topographically speaking, that would be a “valley” fold! The diagonal fold is a “mountain”.😂
Using Liquid Glue between the 5 1/2” and 6 3/4” score lines, I adhered the front of the card base to the back – just in that 1 1/4” area. This made the “book” or “side” fold.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere a narrow piece of Dandy Designs DSP to a Calypso Coral mat and then to the narrow front panel. I matted the same design on Calypso Coral and adhered it to the inside of the card – who says the inner liner HAS to be plain white or vanilla?!? 😉
For the front of the card, I adhered a second – flowery – piece of the Dandy Designs DSP to a Calypso Coral mat.
Using the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder – I embossed a Soft Suede and a Crumb Cake panel in the folder. Then, using the large die in the set, cut out all the Soft Suede “tree rings” at once. I used the individual ring dies to cut out the Crumb Cake rings.
Using the tree ring “centers” dies – I cut them out of two of the larger Crumb Cake rings – then I adhered them to their corresponding Soft Suede tree ring. I adhered them to the card front with Liquid Glue.
Then – I cut out a bunch of foliage and flowers!
From the Tree Rings Hybrid Folder (with the dies):
– Four Mossy Meadow leaves/stems
– One Crumb Cake berry stem
From the Dainty Delight Die set:
– Four Crushed Curry full daisies
– Two Crushed Curry half daisies
– Crumb Cake flower centers – 4 round and 2 “gum drop” shapes
– Three Calypso Coral small flowers
– Three Petal Pink small flowers
– Two Mossy Meadow small leaves
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the little Crumb Cake flower centers to their daisies and used my Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker to color the embossed designs in the small flowers. Then I started adhering Mossy Meadow stems and all the pretty flowers, using Liquid Glue.
I used two lengths of Linen Thread to tie a simple bow, which I adhered with a Glue Dot.
On a strip of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the sentiment from Ringed with Nature in Mossy Meadow ink. I snipped banner ends and then used double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment to the card front.
Finally – I put Liquid Glue on the lower triangle of the card front – the easel – and then adhered the card front to it.
For the easel stop, I stamped a sentiment from Dainty Delight in Mossy Meadow on Crumb Cake and used a single tree ring die to cut it out. Then I adhered it to its corresponding Soft Suede ring with Liquid Glue.
I determined where the easel needed to be to hold my card front in place – and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Two small leaves in Mossy Meadow and another half daisy – adhered with Liquid Glue – finished off the easel stop.
I added Brushed Metallic Adhesive-backed Dots here and there on the card front and inner liner.
I finished it off by wrapping Linen Thread twice around the book-binding portion of the card – securing it in the front with Glue Dots. Then I adhered a Double-Loop Linen Thread bow with a Glue Dot and the card was done!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got Calypso Coral flowers and Mossy Meadow leaves from the Ringed with Nature set on the front…
…and some more Dandy Designs DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! I love this card! From the corner easel fold to the Tree Rings Hybrid embossed and die cut tree rings – to the gorgeous daisies from my new fave thing – the Dainty Delight bundle from the Jan – Apr 2023 Mini Catalog! And – the Dandy Designs DSP – which you’ll be able to get for FREE with a $100 order during the Jan – Feb 2022 Sale-A-Bration is…absolutely wunnermus! 48 pages of color and pattern and…gorgeousness!!
And – if you haven’t see the Carryover List yet, the Ringed with Nature Bundle (which includes the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder) WILL carry over – YEAH!! But…the bundle pricing will NOT! So…if you don’t have it yet – get it quick like a bunny! Cuz – why wouldn’t you want to save 10%?? That would just be weird! 😉

Such a pretty card! Love the wood rings with the wildflowers, perfect! Yeah, it’s difficult to sit that long at the bank to wait for the puppy cookie…looks like he barely made it! 😉
It was a close one, for sure! Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂
Hey Mary…..love your blog today…..just too fun. I’m not a baker, but I enjoy seeing what you make……just wow. The CARD is wonderful. That is a perfect fun-fold…..perfect suite for boy/girl anniversary. I loved watching it come together.
then Finn….the anticipation…..oh my…..so glad the bank lady saw him…..
I KNOW! We weren’t sure she was going to!! Phew! Thank you so much, Faith! 🙂
Thanks for the bread recipe……..now what about the brisket recipe to go with it! Love your blog.
Hmmm – trying to think where we got the recipe. I think it’s from Amazing Ribs with a little tweaking from the Thermoworks site. We use a rub that we started making years ago…called All South BBQ Rub – from The Thrill of the Grill cookbook (https://www.bigoven.com/recipe/all-south-barbecue-rub/16884). Rub it all over the brisket and let it set covered in the fridge overnight. It goes in our electric smoker and cooks for…almost 24 hours? We put it in late afternoon at like 190 or so and it stays on until the internal temp is 205. Then out of the smoker – wrapped in foil and a towel – and then into a small cooler with some other insulation added (we’ve created a faux chambreau) – where it stays until the internal temp is 150. Then – it’a game on!! Thanks, Cindy – hope that helps! 🙂
Thank you so much for this info! My husband has wanted to try a brisket for forever! And that’s not a cut of meat you can afford to cook and throw away these days. Appreciate you girl!
Take a good look at the Thermoworks site – and don’t rush it. Cuz yeah – too spendy to waste!! Happy smoking! 🙂
…it’s the anticipation factor.
Yes indeed! 🙂
