Good morning, y’all! Well – as is ALWAYS the case with our Critters/Inkin Krews retreats – the weekend has FLOWN by! I can’t believe we’re headed to breakfast and a little more stamping and chatting and then…we’ll be hitting the road until NEXT YEAR!! 🙂 Maybe YOU’ll be joining us next year? This is a great time to join the team – what with the amazing Starter Kit Plus Promotion going on right now! And – you could be poised to snag a spot at the retreat next year (after enjoying your demo discount all year long!!). Just throwing that out there! 😉
We had a bunch of amazing projects this weekend – and I’ll be sharing them with you tomorrow. Mine is the subject of today’s card share! I did a Faux side step card – using the gorgeous Framed Florets bundle and the coordinating Framed & Festive stamp set! Some Fitting Florets DSP formed the base – and gave me a wunnermus flower! Take a look-see:
Can you see the hidden gift card holder?? Look close… 🙂
I started with a 5 1/2″ x 8″ piece of Polished Pink cardstock that, using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool, I scored along the long side at 3″, 6″ and 7″. I folded the scored lines as a mountain (3″), valley (6″) and mountain (7″). This is the main card base.
On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the “Fa La La” sentiment from Framed & Festive in Balmy Blue ink. In the corner of the panel, I stamped the leaf image from Framed Florets in Evening Evergreen and colored it with my Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blends.
Then I matted the panel on Balmy Blue and used Liquid Glue to adhere it to the inside of the main card base. Tip: I recommend that you do this inside panel first – BEFORE you assemble the rest of the card. It’s LOTS easier! 🙂
I matted some beautiful flowered paper from the Fitting Florets DSP pack on Balmy Blue and adhered it to the front of the card with Liquid Glue. Some Evening Evergreen plaid paper from the pack – matted on Balmy Blue – is adhered to the narrow strip on the front with Liquid Glue.
Then I scored a 3″ x 6″ piece of Polished Pink cardstock at 4 1/4″ – and folded it as a mountain. That’s the side-step panel.
I matted another pretty design from Fitting Florets DSP on Balmy Blue and adhered it to the larger portion of the Side Step panel with Liquid Glue. Then I created the Gift Card Holder!
I used the Mini Pocket Envelope die to cut the envelope from a piece of Soft Succulent Brushstrokes Specialty Paper. Then I used Liquid Glue to assemble the envelope, adhering the little tabs to the back of the envelope.
With my Paper Trimmer – I cut about a 1/4″ off the top of the back portion of the envelope…
…then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the envelope to the front of the side-step panel. Note: if you don’t need a gift card holder – just omit this step! 😉
On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the sentiment from Framed & Festive in Balmy Blue. Using the oval die in the Framed Florets die set, I cut out the sentiment – which gives the solid oval and then the pretty oval frame – all at the same time!
Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the die cut oval (the solid middle section with the sentiment on it) to the front of the gift card holder. Then I popped the die cut frame over top with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Note: don’t use a Dimensional in the center top of the oval – it’ll block your gift card holder! 😳😳
I used the Framed Florets dies to cut a Balmy Blue leaf (this is my new FAVE leaf die, y’all!) and adhered it to the oval with Liquid Glue. Using the smaller leaf – I cut out two from Soft Succulent and adhered them with Liquid Glue, too.
Okay – now…this is too cool. One of the designs in the Fitting Florets has a beautiful flower that you can cut right out with a die in the Framed Florets die set!! Thank you, Stampin’ Up!! There’s a Petal Pink one and a Polished Pink one. Guess which one I picked? Yep – and then I adhered it with Liquid Glue to the card front.
I used Liquid Glue on the bottom 1″ of the side-step panel and adhered it to the narrow bottom strip – aligning the bottoms. Then I closed the card base and used more Liquid Glue to adhere the smaller portion of the panel to the back of the main card base – thus creating the side-step panel.
I matted another piece of the plaid paper from the Fitting Florets DSP on Balmy Blue and adhered it to the back of the card.
I added some new Gold Adhesive-Backed Swirls to the oval – and…the card was done! See how the gift card is just barely peeking out! Love it!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Framed Florets leaves – in Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent – on the front…
…and more Fitting Florets DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! This version of a side-step card is absolutely one of my fave fun folds – it’s super easy – and it stands up like a boss – making a perfect display piece. Since it’s so easy to assemble – you can spend the extra time decorating the heck out of it! I even made this one into gift card holder – cuz Gift-Card-Season is just around the corner!! – using the Mini Pocket Envelope Die set! Framed & Festive (which will be available – along with the rest of the Fitting Florets product suite) is chock-a-block full of holiday sentiments! The cool Fitting Florets DSP – is just too gorgeous – and I know you’re going to want a pack (or three!!)!
I hope you like!
