Stampin’ Up! Scary Cute Black & White Silhouettes for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  We’ve got a very seasonal color challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table – I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

As I built this post, I realized I’d used almost exactly the same products on my LAST week blog hop card!  Oh, well – I had a request for another Halloween card and…since the colors were perfect AND Halloween is like …right around the corner (🤔), I figured…better get it done!  So…out came the Scary Cute bundle and the Aspen Tree Dies.  This time, though, I played with the fun Black & White Designs DSP.  Take a look-see:

Betcha can’t even figure out our color challenge!  😂

And I got some ideas from the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge this week, too! I went left-to-right down the diagonal (Polka Dots – Die Cuts – Embossing) and down the right column (Square – Leaves – Embossing).

I started by cutting a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Black & White Designs DSP that I then cut on the diagonal to make two triangles.  These are both adhered to the 4″ x 5 1/4″ Crushed Curry mat with Liquid Glue.

Next up, I made a Basic Black frame by cutting out the largest square Stylish Shapes die – with the next-to-largest die nestled inside.  The frame is adhered to a largest square Stylish Shapes die cut of my fave starry paper from the Celebrate Everything DSP with Liquid GlueHint: You NEED this host-exclusive pack if you don’t already have it!  Then I adhered the whole thing to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I used the leaves die from the Aspen Tree Dies set to cut two Cajun Craze, two Distressed Gold Paper and one Crushed Curry leaf – all of which I curled very gently with my fingers.  Hey!  Did you know that you can get the Aspen Tree Dies for FREE right now – thru the end of Sale-A-Bration on 31 Aug – with a $100+ purchase (before shipping & tax)??  It’s totally true!!

Then I cut out the cat and the house from the Scary Silhouettes Dies from Basic Black cardstock.  I adhered little scraps of Crushed Curry cardstock behind the windows of the house and the eyes of the cat.  Cuz…you know….Spooooooky!! 😉

I popped the house up into the corner of my little “vignette” with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then I layered the cat and leaves in a suitably skulky collage with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the Scary Cute sentiment in Versamark Ink on a piece of Basic Black cardstock, sprinkled it with white Embossing Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool.

I cut out the sentiment with the Stylish Shapes banner die and popped it over the leaves with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.

At that point, I realized it needed…a MOON and a bat.  So I cut them out with the Scary Silhouette dies.  I adhered the little bat over the moon with Liquid Glue and then popped them up in the corner with a mini Black Stampin’ Dimensional.

And the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Scary Cute sentiment in Cajun Craze a few times on a Basic White panel.  In the corner, using a Stamparatus, I added the fun monster in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  A Crushed Curry moon and a few Tuxedo Black bats completed this terrifying scene!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Crushed Curry mat and into my Cajun Craze card base, popped the card front on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got another Scary Cute scene on the front…

…and a little more Black & White Designs DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I don’t even particularly like Halloween, y’all – but…I purely LOVE this adorably terrifying black cat from the Scary Silhouettes skulking thru a pile of Aspen Tree leaves, don’t you?!?  Did I mention you can get that die set for FREE right now??! 😎  And I think the Scary Cute sentiments are so fun, too!
