Stampin’ Up! Gingham Cottage Wreaths Side Fold Card with Video Tutorial

Good morning good morning!  It’s the day after the 4th and I hope you and your critters had a fun and non-scary evening!  We spent the day getting provisions for the girls – well, putting provisions on a Rain Check!! – and buying a few garden fence panels to take care of a little problem we have at the fountain by the barn.  And two more perennials (WAYNE’S idea – not mine!!).  So…a good quiet day!

I’ve got one of my VERY favorite fun folds for you today – the venerable side-fold.  It doesn’t have an extra easel.  It’s not an upside down and sideways book card with a twist.  Just a good, solid side-fold card!  And – it really lets the new Cottage Wreaths bundle and coordinating Gingham Cottage DSP shine.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was inspired by the sketch side of the FUSION challenge this week.

And it’s sorta perfect for the Creative Creases challenge – Anything Goes with a Fun Fold.

This is one of the easiest folds going, but I DID do a video on how to make it – so if you’d like to check it out…here ’tis on YouTube!

I started out by scoring a 4 1/4” x 11” piece of Early Espresso cardstock at 5 1/2” and 6 3/4” on the long side.  I folded the 5 1/2” score line as a “valley” – so….you know, ”regular”! – and at the 6 3/4” score in the opposite direction.  Topographically speaking, that would be a “mountain” fold!

Using Liquid Glue between the 5 1/2” and 6 3/4” score lines, I adhered the front of the card base to the back – just in that 1 1/4” area. This made the “book” or “side” fold.

I cut two pieces of Gingham Cottage DSP (in two different sizes of plaid) and adorned them with some leaves and acorns from the Cottage Wreaths set.  The leaves are Crushed Curry and the acorns are Pumpkin Pie.

Then I matted each piece of DSP on a Pumpkin Pie mat and adhered them to the card front with Liquid Glue.  One is the card front and the other is on the narrow side fold panel.

I adhered a strip of Gingham Cottage DSP onto the card front with a little Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the Cottage Wreaths wreath in Early Espresso Ink and cut it with the matching die from the bundled Country Wreaths die set.

I used the Country Wreath die to cut four Crumb Cake and four Crushed Curry leaves.

Using Liquid Glue – just on the stems – I adhered the leaves to the die cut wreath.

Then I adhered the wreath over the DSP strip with Liquid Glue.

I used some Stampin’ Seal+ to adhere a length of new Silver-Threaded Twine.

On a strip of Basic White, I stamped the Cottage Wreaths sentiment in Pumpkin Pie.  Then I snipped a snappy angled end and popped it over the twine with double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added some Rustic Metallic Adhesive-backed Dots and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from Cottage Wreaths in Pumpkin Pie.  Then I stamped more Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie leaves and acorns.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pumpkin Pie mat and then into the inside of the card base and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got more leaves and acorns on the front…

…and more of the Gingham Cottage DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! A side fold card is perfect when you’d like to play with a square card design – but…want to actually MAKE a “regular” A2 card – so it’s a good one to have in your kit-bag.  Another GREAT thing to have handy is the Cottage Wreaths stamp set and bundled Country Wreaths dies.  Don’t forget the Gingham Cottage DSP – it’s a HUGE pack of paper – you’ll get 48 sheets of plaid gorgeousness!!

I hope you like!
