Stampin’ Up! Cup of Tea Sneak Peek Double Box Fun Fold with Video Tutorial

Good Friday morning, y’all!  Before we get going – I REALLY want to make sure that you see the AMAZEBALLS Joining Special that will be kicking off next week on the 3rd!  It’s a great time to join the team (well – it’s ALWAYS a great time, but this is even more great!) – with the BONUS of a whole slew of free 2022-2024 In Color goodies ON TOP of your Starter Kit!  So…be SURE to read all about it down below, okay? 😉

My card today is a cool fun fold – called a Double Box fold – that I first saw on Carol Buckalew’s blog site!  She did an amazing card using the Nature’s Prints bundle.  I decided to try the fold – but showcase the Tea Boutique suite, with the Cup of Tea Bundle and fun Tea Boutique DSP (all of which will be available to you next week on the 3rd.  Hmmm.  The 3rd’s going to be a BIG DAY!  Take a look-see:

My color palette is from the Color Throwdown challenge this week!

And this is definitely a fun fold, so…makes sense to enter it in the Creative Creases Challenge!

I also did a video on this card – if you were able to join me yesterday for it, I appreciate you spending part of your week with me.  If not, but you’d like to see how to make this card (and it will help – it’s a lot easier to SHOW it than to write it!) – here ’tis on YouTube!

I started with a 4 1/4″ x 9 3/8″ piece of Crushed Curry cardstock that I scored at 3/8″, 1 3/8″, 2 7/8″ and 3 7/8″ along the long side, using my Simply Scored Score Tool.

I folded all the score lines in the same direction – and placed Tear & Tape Adhesive on the 3/8″ “flap”.

I pulled the cover off the Tear & Tape and then folded the card flat at the 2 7/8″ score line.  That adhered the little flap to the back of the card – and created the “box”. Check the video at about the 4:15 point – it’s easier if you can see it! 🙂

I matted a piece of the Crushed Curry-striped paper from the Tea Boutique 6″ x 6″ DSP (coming next week!) on an Orchid Oasis mat (new 2022-2023 In Color!) and adhered it to the small panel on the front of the “box”.

I matted a larger piece of the DSP on Orchid Oasis and then, using Liquid Glue, adhered it to the larger panel on the card base.

I took a 3 1/2″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Basic White and scored it at 3/8″ and 1 3/8″ on the long side.

Then I matted two pieces of Orchid Oasis paper from Tea Boutique on Crushed Curry and adhered them to the large and smaller side panels.

I folded both score lines in the same direction and used Tear & Tape again on the 3/8″ “flap” to adhere the small card to the larger card.  Seriously – check the video to see how to get this lined up right – you want the card to OPEN as you can see in the picture – but it ALSO needs to CLOSE and fit in your Medium Envelope! 😉  You can see it (and a cool tip on using tear & Tape Adhesive!) at the 12:00 mark on the video.

I decorated the card front by adhering a Heart & Home Doily (white-side-up!) with Liquid Glue.

The two tea cups (or coffee cups for me!) are made from Smoky Slate cardstock, cut with the die in the bundled Teacup Die set.  For one of them, I stamped the striped design from Cup of Tea first in Orchid Oasis.  On the second, I used Liquid Glue to adhere an Orchid Oasis detailed die cut design.  I adhered both cups to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I stamped several flowers from Cup of Tea in Crushed Curry and cut them with their matching dies – then adhered them with Liquid Glue.

The bow is tied with some Orchid Oasis 2022-2024 In Color Baker’s Twine and adhered with a little Liquid Glue.

The sentiment, from Cup of Tea, is stamped in Orchid Oasis on a strip of Crushed Curry with snipped banner ends, and popped over the bow with Stampin’ Dimensionals

I added some new 2022-2024 In Color Matte Decorative Dots to the middles of the flowers.  Then I colored a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels with my Dark Orchid Oasis Stampin’ Blend (YES! There are Stampin’ Blends for all the new In Colors – whoohoo!!) and added them to finish off the front of the card!

On the back, I stamped a second Cup of Tea sentiment in Orchid Oasis, then added some flowers in Crushed Curry.  With my Orchid Oasis Stampin’ Write Marker – I added a flower “center”.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to an Orchid Oasis mat and onto the back of the card and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got more Cup of Tea flowers on the front…

…and more Tea Boutique DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Okay – I REALLY hope that the written directions didn’t scare you away from this cool fun fold!  I promise that if you watch the video – and you can even stop and re-wind and re-watch and everything – you’re going to see that it’s truly not that hard!  And then you can decorate it however you like – although I hope you’ll think the Cup of Tea Bundle, with it’s fun cups and flowers and sweet little tags (AND a slice of lemon!), as well as the fun Tea Boutique 6″ x 6″ DSP is a worthy spot to start!

I hope you like!

And – not for nuthin’ – you can pick up the 2022-2024 In Color goodies that I used here in my Special Bundle #1 – All the Pretty In Colors and the Tea Boutique Suite products in Special Bundle #5 – Artistically Speaking.  If you’d like to recreate this card, all the products and card cuts you’ll need are down below!

Finn Fan Fix

The other day, Wayne was running dirt from the top end of our property down to the new garden shed, using the older-and-crotchety-er-than-we-are dump truck.  This involves driving the dump truck from one end of the property to the other multiple times.

At one end of the trip – he jumps out the truck, gets on the excavator, loads dirt.  Then he jumps back in the truck and drives to the shed, dumps the dirt – and heads back for the next load.

There’s a pasture gate in there, too.  One that keeps the ladies inside.  Under normal circumstances, if it was open and they DID wander out of it – no big.  The place is fenced and the front gate is closed.

But.  On THIS day – the front gate was open cuz we were expecting deliveries.

16′ opening in 30 acres of fence.  I promise – if they got out – they would have gone to that opening like a moth to a flame.

And if you have EVER tried to catch loose horses on a road where folks run 60….well.  You’ll do pretty much ANYthing to never EVER do it again.

So…Wayne had me standing guard at the pasture gate so he could run in and out and I could keep the ladies IN.  And not OUT.

They saw me arrive at the gate but, for a minute, they just kept eating.

Finally, though, it was just too much.

They came flying down to see what I was DOING!?!

Well – to be fair – Cady flew.  Cerah meandered as befits the older matriarch that she is.

Cady is quite the nosy nellie.  But…she’s just so stinkin’ cute!

After the initial curiosity, Cerah – as befits an older champion EATER…just kept eating.

Nuthin’ to see here. 😉
