Stampin’ Up! Beautiful Framed Occasions Fun “W” Fold Card with Video Tutorial

Happy Half-way-thru-the-weekend, y’all!  Hope yours is going well so far.  We were very productive yesterday – we raised the three massive trusses Wayne built for our new garden shed.  Shed.  Hmmm.  Garage?  Warehouse? Second home?  It’s a little big, y’all – although, is there ever TOO big for a spot to keep all the paraphernalia that goes along with gardening?!?  I will say no – and stick with that story! 😉

My card today is a another fun fold – and it’s really easy.  It’s called a “W” fold (or an “M” fold, depending on your perspective!) and it’s really cool.  This one uses the Framed Occasions stamp set (a new set – that I think is going to be a “fly-over” even though it shouldn’t be! – from the new 2022-2023 Annual Catalog) and the Design a Daydream DSP – which is one of the Host-Exclusive items in the new catalog.  It also features the Celebrating You stamp set and Beautiful Shapes dies – both available right now in the Jan – Jun 2022 Mini and BOTH carrying over!  Take a look-see:

If you were able to join me last night for my YouTube Live tutorial, I appreciate you spending part of your weekend with me!  If not, but you’d like to take a gander at the replay, here ’tis on my YouTube channel!

My color palette is from the Sunday Stamps color challenge this week!

I started with a So Saffron card base – 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored and folded at 5 1/2″ – in side-fold mode (versus my usual top-fold configuration!).  On the front, I adhered a piece of the Design a Daydream DSP with Liquid Glue.

I used the next-to-largest rectangle die in the Scalloped Contours die set to cut a Basic White shape.  Using the small flower from Framed Occasions, I stamped a loose swath of So Saffron flowers.

I added some Mint Macaron leaves and Sahara Sand “dots” and then adhered the panel to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the hexagon outline image from Framed Occasions in Petal Pink on Basic White and then cut it with the next-to-largest hexagon in the Beautiful Shapes die set -which coordinates perfectly with this stamp set!  Note:  Beautiful Shapes is a set that is in the current Mini Catalog and it’s bundled with the Hello Beautiful stamp set – meaning you can get it with a 10% savings!  Both items will be in the new Annual Catalog – BUT the bundle pricing will NOT be there!  So….if you want both the stamp set and the dies – get them now and save a little $$!

I stamped the Framed Occasions sentiment in Mint Macaron.

I cut a Petal Pink hexagon using the largest die in Beautiful Shapes and adhered it with Liquid Glue.  Then I tied a little bow from a length of white Baker’s Twine, adhered it with a little dab of Liquid Glue and popped the sentiment over top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a few Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels – and the card front was done. 🙂

On the inside, I adhered two panels of Mint Macaron paper from the Design a Daydream DSP with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the Petal Pink hexagon two more times on Basic White and then added a couple of sentiments from the Celebrating You stamp set in Mint Macaron – then I cut them with the next-to-largest hexagon and adhered them to the Petal Pink hexagon mats with Liquid Glue.

Then I cut two next-to-largest hexagons from another sweet design in the Design a Daydream DSP and matted THEM on Petal Pink hexagons as well.

For the “W” mechanism, I cut a 1 3/4″ x 11″ piece of So Saffron and scored it at 2 3/4″, 5 1/2″ and 8 1/4″.  Then folded it with the middle scored line a “valley” and the other two as “mountains”.

Using Liquid Glue on the two end panels, I adhered the strip into the card base – aligning the ends with the edges of the card base.

These pictures show you the “w”….or the “m” – just depends on how to see the world, right? 😉

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the matted sentiments and DSP hexagons onto the “w” mechanism – just centering them in each panel.  And that was it for the card!

One thing that’s so cool about this fold (other than how easy it is!) is that…it opens completely flat!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got more of the Framed Occasions flowers, leaves and dots on the front…

…and more Design a Daydream DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  So…I love this fold, don’t you?  And it’s so pretty with all the Design a Daydream DSP…which is a HUGE pack of paper – you get 48 sheets…

…and – you’ll be able to get it for FREE with a $180 individual or workshop order!!

I’m also really liking this Framed Occasions set – it’s got very sweet florals and sentiments and it’s fun that it coordinates with the Beautiful Shapes Dies, don’t you think?

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

So – here’s what we did on Saturday.  I’ve mentioned a couple of times that I wish I could clone myself but…I think I REALLY need to clone Wayne.  I’m sure he wishes his helper was…HIMSELF and not me!  But – we got it done.  Fortunately, when I’m in the Bobcat – all I really have to do is stay laser-focused on what he’s telling me to do and where to go.  😂😂😂

We started with 6 posts in the air.  Very.  High.  In.  The.  Air.

Wayne built three trusses – from lumber he sawed – from trees he cut down (yes, he’s the Martha Stewart of men!) and that’s what we hoisted.  Of course, our big machine is acting…badly….so we had to come up with a way to do it with two too-small pieces of equipment.

My genius husband figured out a way to use a hay-bale-handler…

…to extend our reach so we could get the trusses atop the posts.  This is after two trusses were up – but it really shows how the attachment worked!

We walked each truss from the “manufacturing” barn over to the new spot….

Yours truly ran the machine and Wayne wrangled the truss – it sort of wanted to swing all over the place (trusses are persnickety – especially when they weigh a billion pounds!).

Once we inched into position, my monkey-husband ran up and down the ladder (and leapt from the handler to the post to the tractor to the ladder….all while I’m trying to shout to him NOT TO DO THAT!!) – securing the trusses to the posts.

It was a lot of work for him (the Bobcat is air conditioned and has a radio so….pretty cushy for me.  Just a little white knuckling as I tried to make surgical-precision adjustments with the Bobcat “sledgehammer”!).  There WAS one teensy incident where I “toed up” instead of “raise up” and…the truss popped up over the post and Wayne went beat-feeting out from under it.  It didn’t fall but…yikes! 👀👀👀👀

Anywho – we finally got them all in the air and…it’s starting to look like a building!  That’s the well house there – it’s going to be incorporated into the shed.

Finn had….two jobs.  1) Stay out of the way and 2) don’t sneak off to the neighbors house.

He got a gold-star on both jobs!! 🙂

  1. Such a sweet card! Love the soft colors and the fun fold design! 🙂 Goodness…I’d have made Lance find someone to help with that job…I am not so steady when it comes to moving heavy things. 😉 Can’t wait to see the finished project!

Fortunately all I have to do is drive! 🙂 Thank you so much, Amy! 🙂

  2. Johanna Barbieri

I can’t believe how hard you two work, believe in the land and your beautiful animals. I admire you.
I so wish we lived near each as well cuz your sense of humor is like mine and sometimes people just don’t get it. Yes, it is so! Lol

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – that sounds like it would be fun!! And thank you for the kind words – we’re very fortunate to have this space so close in to town! 🙂

  3. Love the octagon shape for the W inside… I’ve used squares before but these give a different look.

You’re hubby is amazing…like his wife!
Reminds me of stuff my brother does on his farm in NY. And Finn is the poster child of good boys!
Thanks for making me smile Mary!

Glad I can bring you a smile, Sue – and thank you for the kind words. Wayne is the sole reason that we have pretty much anything here! And yes indeed – Finn is a VERY good boy! 🙂

  5. Pat C.

OMG, Mary! You and Wayne are Wonder Woman and Superman! Looks like your new “shed” will be so awesome when finished.
Love your card, and will be trying this fun-fold for some birthday cards that I need to make. I do believe I may “need” this stamp set and die set. My budget is blown, I’ll tell my hubby it’s “Mary’s fault!” 😁

    • stampsnlingers

I have broad shoulders, Pat – I can take it. And yes, this is a good set to have in your arsenal – and I love this fun fold, too! Superman, maybe. Wonder Woman? Well, I haven’t seen an ivisible plane anywhere around, nor a golden lasso, so…I’m guessing more like…Lois Lane? 😉 Thanks so much! 🙂

  6. Elisha Smith
