Stampin’ Up! Seas The Day with Special Moments Birthday with Video Tutorial

Well – here we are on Sunday – I’m looking out the window at…not snow.  Not ice.  Not…nuthin’.  Heck – it’s not even all that cold.  Guess the brine all over the road yesterday when we went out – no, we really DID need food, we were NOT “prepping”.  No toilet paper came home with us.  Okay – a LOT of milk came home but…it’s for our yoghurt, okay?!?

Anyway – as I was saying before you gave me the “really, Mary – PREPPING for the storm like eveyr other snowpocalypsaggedon fearmonger in Atlanta” look – guess that brine was a Just In Case thing! 😉

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live – I appreciate you spending part of your weekend with me. 🙂  If not – and you’d like to have a peek at the replay – here ’tis on YouTube!

When we were in Maui, we went snorkeling.  We saw so many fish in so many colors – just like in a tropical fish store! – and it was beyond cool.  So when I saw the fun new Seas the Day stamp set with the amazingly cool Sea Dies, I knew I wanted to use them to try to re-create that picture!  AND – with the  advent of the Simply Marbleous 6″ x 6″ DSP (FREE during Sale-a-Bration with a qualifying order) – I knew just what to do.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was loosely inspired – I flipped it – by the sketch side of the FUSION Challenge!

I started by adhering a piece of new Simply Marbleous DSP onto the front of my Misty Moonlight cardbase with Liquid Glue.  Then I stamped some “bubbles” in Night of Navy.

Then I did some cutting!  I cut out the big Sea Dies frame from a card-front-sized piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock.  I used the same die to cut a frame from the pink design in the Simply Marbleous DSP – then I fussy cut just the coral from that frame.

I inked the fun little octopus with Blackberry Bliss ink – using the pad AND a Sponge Dauber – and stamped it on more of the Simply Marbleous DSP.  Then I cut it out with the die from the Sea set.  Using Liquid Glue – I adhered the octo-pod to the frame – sort of weaving his arms in and around the frame.  I adhered the fussy cut coral to the back of the frame.

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals – staying along the outside of the panel (so that I could tuck my decorations inside!) – to adhere the frame to the front of the card.

I inked the fishes up and stamped some in Night of Navy (on the same Pool Party Marbleous paper) and some in Mango Melody (on the yellow Marbleous paper) then cut them out with the Sea Dies.

The Sea Die Set has a couple of grass and leaves dies – and I used them to cut an Evening Evergreen and a few Soft Succulent pieces from 2021-2023 In Color Shimmer Vellum.

Using Liquid Glue, I tucked the grasses inside the frame.  Then I used a combination of Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere all the fish.

For the sentiment, I stamped a Special Moments (ANOTHER free product – this one is available with a $100 purchase during Sale-A-Bration!) sentiment in Blackberry Bliss on a strip of the pink Simply Marbleous DSP and snipped a banner in the end.  Then I adhered it to the frame with Liquid Glue.

I cut two fun little starfish from a piece of Rainbow Glimmer Paper and used Liquid Glue and Dimensionals to adhere them to the end of the sentiment.

I added some Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the sentiment and here and there around my little undersea scene – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a sentiment from the Seas The Day set in Blackberry Bliss to a Basic White panel.  In the corner, I stamped the grass image twice in Soft Succulent – without re-inking between stamps.  Tip: this is called “stamping off” or “second generation” stamping and is a great way to get a “different” color with just one ink pad! 🙂  I added a few more Iridescent Rhinestone “bubbles”, too!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere another watery piece of the Simply Marbleous DSP to the inside of the card.  Then I matted the Basic White panel on Misty Moonlight and adhered it with Liquid Glue and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got more of the Soft Succulent grasses from Seas The Day on the front…

…and more Simply Marbleous DSP (plus a few Night of Navy fishes and bubbles!) on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love how this Seas The Day bundle – with the uber-cool Sea Die set – lets me “snorkle” without…being cold!  And yes.  The Maui waters were COLD!  I wanted a birthday card so the Special Moments set came thru like a champ!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

This photo – a close-up – really tells a story of love and devotion.

Two traits that dogs the world over are known for.

And Finn – my sweet velcro dog – is no exception.

His love for me is…boundless.

Or…is it?

He DOES love me – and it IS boundless.  But – he’s got a big enough heart to ALSO give a lot of love and devotion to …POPCORN! 😉

Lucky for the popcorn!
