Stampin’ Up! Enjoy the Peaceful Moment of the Christmas Season Birthday Card

Good morning and welcome back to the week!  This is a big week – Stampin’ Up!-wise!  Tomorrow you’ll be able to pick up the cool Eden’s Garden goodies!!  Whoo-hoo!!  And – thru Wednesday you can still get my Special Bundle and save a little cashola!

My card for today contains no Eden….anything!  Instead – it’s a pine-cone-y birthday card featuring the Christmas Season bundle – plus a sentiment from the Enjoy The Moment set and one from Peaceful Moments (I’ve TOLD you you NEED this set!).  Take a look-see:

Now – the layout for this one was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  I sort of made it a ….faux??…slimline card! 🙂

I started by embossing a piece of Basic White cardstock in the pine-bough folder from the Wintry 3D Embossing Folders.  I ran it thru twice to cover the entire panel – but the “seam” is under the center decorative strip so…it’s all good! 🙂  Then I adhered it to a Soft Succulent mat for the card front.

I embossed a strip of Evening Evergreen in the same folder and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I embossed a strip of Cork Specialty Paper in the folder, adhered it to a Soft Succulent mat and then adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.  So…can you see the slimline now? 😉

On a piece of Basic White I stamped the following images from the Christmas Season stamp set.

  • Three Evening Evergreen large pine boughs
  • Three Soft Succulent larger pine boughs
  • Three Early Espresso berry branches with Cherry Cobbler berries
  • Three small pinecones: the detailed image is stamped in Early Espresso and the “fill” in stamped-off-once Early Espresso

I cut all the elements with the handy dies from the bundled Seasonal Labels die set.

I adhered the boughs and berries to the card front with Liquid Glue – then popped the pinecones on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a Double-Loop Linen Thread bow – but…I only did TWICE around four fingers and then TWICE around two fingers (remember my usual bow goes FOUR times around!). Like this picture but…half.  Sort of.

                    • Wrap the Linen Thread around four fingers TWO times.
                    • Without cutting the thread, wrap around two fingers TWO times.
                    • Pull the loops off and squeeze the loops together.
                    • Twist the loops one time around to create a “figure 8”.
                    • Tie a second short length of Thread around the loops in the middle.
                    • Spread the loops out to create a bow.

I adhered the bow to the card front with a Glue Dot.

On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the sentiment from Enjoy The Moment in Evening Evergreen and cut it with a sentiment label from the Seasonal Labels die set.

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment – there are actually THREE dimensionals stacked under the middle and right side – there’s a lot of layers right there! 🙂

I added some Cherry Cobbler gems from the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a Peaceful Moments sentiment in Evening Evergreen to a Basic White panel.  Over the top I added the small double-bough image from Christmas Season in stamped-off-once Soft Succulent and the large bough in stamped-off-once Evening Evergreen.  Then I added a Cherry Cobbler Holiday Rhinestone.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to an Evening Evergreen mat and into my Thick Basic White cardbase, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Christmas Season double-bough in Soft Succulent, the large bough in Evening Evergreen and the pine cone in Early Espresso on the front…

…and the large pine bough in Evening Evergreen on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I LOVE this card (she says modestly!)!  Pine cones and pine boughs from the Christmas Season bundle and…cork!  I used the Enjoy the Moment set to turn this into a birthday card – but…it would also make a great Christmas card!  And…the Peaceful Moments set…well.  I think I’ve foot-stomped THAT one plenty.  Just get it, okay?? 😉

Finn Fan Fix

Heading into the kitchen last night to get things right and tight before going to bed I see…

A tired Mr. Turtle.  And his dog.

They were both just too tired to go even another foot!

It happens.

  1. Such a pretty card! Love those pine bough and pinecone images! Perfect for Christmas. Poor Finn…all of that trick-or-treating must have worn him out. 😉

  2. I love how you are adding an embellishment to the inside. I’ll give the bow a tie, I mean try, and see if I can follow your instructions. I might need a video! TFS.

ROFL! I’m pretty sure I MIGHT do bow a tie like this sometime in the future on a video!! 😉 Thanks so much! 🙂

  3. Linda Callahan

A Very Mary card—and I love it. Those pine cones and boughs and berries are perfect for the sketch. (I like it better as a regular card than a slimline!) TFS. Mr Turtle and his Frinnd look like it was a rough Halloween! Hope they got treats!

Neither trick nor treat happened here! Finn would LOVE little ghoulies & ghosties to come but…alas…we’re too far off the beaten path! This is just your every day, run of the mill….tired dog and turtle!! 😉 Thanks very much, Susan – glad you liked the card! 🙂

  5. Jacquie

A beautifully layered design! Thanks for playing along with us at FMS this week, Mary.
