Stampin’ Up! Pattern Party Counting Sheep Birthday Card

Happy Happy Hawwmp Day!  And – I think it’s like…a SUPER hawwwwmp day – cuz it’s a new month AND it marks the half-way point of Sale-A-Bration!

To sort of celebrate that – I’ve made a card today that is CHOCK-A-BLOCK full of FREE goodies from Sale-a-Bration.  And…from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog.  The star of the show is the Counting Sheep stamp set with the matching Sheep Dies.  Each of these is a free Level 1 ($50) selection in the Aug – Sep 2021 Sale-A-Bration catalog.  Spend $100 (before shipping & tax) and you can get them both!  AND – I used the Pattern Party DSP – which is a host-exclusive pack of paper in the current Annual Catalog.  Take a look-see:

These wild and woolly party animals fit the bill just perfectly at the TGIF Challenge this week!

I started by adhering a piece of the Pattern Party DSP to the front and inside of a Smoky Slate card base using Liquid Glue.

For the card front, I took a piece of Basic White and, using Blending Brushes, colored the top with Balmy Blue and the lower portion with Garden Green.

I stamped “grass” from the Counting Sheep set in Garden Green across the bottom of the panel.

I cut a “fence” from a piece of In Good Taste DSP using the die in the Sheep Die set and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I cut a couple of Basic White clouds using the die, brushed the edges with Balmy Blue and adhered them with Liquid Glue.

I stamped all the sheep in Smoky Slate and cut them with their matching Sheep Dies.  Then I used my Light Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend for their faces and the Light Smoky Slate Blend for their bodies.  I used circular strokes and made a point of not blending it well – then I even used my Color Lifter – all to make give it more depth and help it look like wool.

And – for you doubting Thomases….

Herdwick Sheep Characteristics - Learn Natural Farming

…yes.  Gray sheep ARE a thing! 😉  Meet the Herdwick Sheep!

I popped the leaping sheep onto the card front with a few Dimensionals and Liquid Glue – making sure his foot was behind the fence (He’s making a break for it.  Which is silly cuz…he could just go around the end of the fence!).  Then I added the dancing sheep with Dimensionals – and the standing sheep with Liquid Glue.

I cut some balloons with the die from the Sheep Die set from a few different patterns of Pattern Party DSP and used a Dimensional under the balloons and Liquid Glue on the strings to adhere them.

I stamped the Counting Sheep sentiment in Balmy Blue on Basic White and cut it with a Tasteful Labels die (maybe you recognize it?!? 😂).  I popped it onto the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Finally – I stamped a Smoky Slate hat with the stamp in Counting Sheep, cut it out with its Sheep Die, and colored the dots with my Petal Pink Stampin’ Write Marker.

I adhered the hat to the sentiment with Liquid Glue and the card front was done!

On the inside, I brushed the top and bottom of a Basic White panel with Balmy Blue and Garden Green, then stamped some Garden Green grass across the bottom.

I used Stampin’ Seal to adhere the panel to a Balmy Blue mat and into the card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got some blended and stamped Counting Sheep grass in the front corner…

…and one of the fun Pattern Party DSP designs on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  How cute is this birthday card?  I think these guys from the Counting Sheep set – so easily cut out with their matching Sheep Dies – are just too fun!  Add them to any one of the fun designs in the Pattern Party DSP and…you’re ready to parrrr-tay!

I hope you like!

Okay – want these things for Free?  Here’s how.  Place an order totalling $180 or greater (before shipping & tax).  You’ll earn at least $18 in Stampin’ Rewards – which you can use to “buy” the Pattern Party DSP.  As you check out – you’ll get to select THREE $50 level Sale-a-Bration gifts.  Pick the Counting Sheep stamp set, the Sheep Dies and….any one of the other SIX Level 1 selections!  Whoo-hoo!

Finn Fan Fix

The other day  – before Ida made her entrance – we had a power outage.

I guess there was an accident somewhere.

So – being that the house was dark (it WAS overcast) and getting warm without the AC – we decided to hit Home Depot to get some lumber.  Naturally the Finnster accompanied us.

He does LOVE to ride!

Well – we got a few miles from the house and came upon the traffic backup that was – apparently – the result of multiple traffic lights being out (power outage, remember)?

Finn’s dad is not terribly…tolerant of traffic backups.  So…he decided to turn around and return to the house.

Finn – while still happy to be riding – clearly realized the ride was going to be shorter than expected.

And…no shopping for the dog.

He’s a pretty sharp cookie!

  1. Cute card! Never doubted for a minute that there were gray sheep…especially with photoshop…you can make sheep whatever color you’d like! 😉 Poor Finn, he looks so sad in the second photo. No treats, no extra pets from random people, bummer!

    • stampsnlingers

Well – you probably know that the odds of ME being able to photoshop a picture are…uhm…zero! 😉 Thanks very much, Amy! 🙂

  2. You should not be at all sheepish about the color (I know you saw what I did there…we haven’t done that in awhile!) and I loved the photo of the Herdwick. Poor Finn…he probably missed out on a cookie at the store. Have a great day!

    • stampsnlingers

I DO see what you did there! 😉 And yep – he did miss out on a cookie – and lots of extra pettings! Thanks, Karen! 🙂

  3. Lynne Ingram

    very cute card

  4. Diane Lindsay

Omg, the look on Finn’s face…so happy to be out snd about…and then the droopy, poopy face. Poor guy…total disappointment 😒
