Stampin’ Up! Picture This Daisy Garden with Inspired Thoughts With Video Tutorial

Good morning and happy Friday!  Heading in to a three-day weekend – whoo-hoo!! Hope you have something fun planned.  And that it includes staying cool!  Whew!!

So…if you were able to join me yesterday for my YouTube live – I appreciate you spending part of your day with me.  If not, but you’d like to watch the replay – here’s the link!

This card starts with the gorgeous Daisy Garden stamp set – and gets a couple of sentiments from Inspired Thoughts.  Two “a la carte” die sets – these are die sets not associated with a specific stamp set or bundle – Stitched Greenery and the cool set are pivotal to this card!  Take a look-see:

I started by stamping the big, beautiful Daisy Garden image in Tuxedo Black on Basic White – using my Stamparatus.

To color the image, I scraped some Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody pastel from the Soft Pastels Assortment onto an Acrylic Block.  Then I used my Clear Wink of Stella to pick up the powder and “watercolor” the daisies.

I used the same technique to color the leaves using the Granny Apple Green pastel.  And then I colored the background – same technique! – using Coastal Cabana pastel.

The card front itself is a piece of Mango Melody from which I cut the circles using the die in the Picture This die set.  Once the holes were cut, I ran it thru the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine with the Stitched Greenery Die in place.

I did a dry fit on a Poppy Parade mat and cut the Daisy panel down a bit to fit where I wanted it behind the card front – then I adhered it to the Poppy Parade mat with Liquid Glue.  I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop the Mango Melody card front over the mat.

I stamped the sentiment from Inspired Thoughts in Poppy Parade on Basic White and cut it with the rectangle die in the Picture This set (hang onto the negatives when you use this die – they’re stitched and really cool! – never know what you could use them for.   Like…SENTIMENTS!)

I adhered the sentiment to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I tied a simple bow from a double-length of white twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  I also added a sweet Bumblebee Trinket with a Glue Dot and the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped a second Inspired Thoughts sentiment in Poppy Parade.  Then I used my Stamparatus to add the Daisy Garden image at the bottom in Tuxedo Black.  I colored just the flowers using the Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody pastels.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Poppy Parade mat and into my Mango Melody card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Daisy Garden image on the front…

…and a little Mango Melody paper from the Brights 6″ x 6″ DSP pack on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love the Daisy Garden image SO much!  It’s just so big and gorgeous! Inspired Thoughts is chock-a-block full of handy sentiments., too  A la carte die sets – be sure to take a swing thru the catalog and pick them out – there are several and I think they’re fun!  Picture This is for sure a cool way to add interest to a card front – as is the wonderful Stitched Greenery! 😉

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Finn has the perfect length legs.  I mean – they start on him and end on the ground.

What more could you ask of legs??

Well – Finn sometimes wishes his legs went just a littttle bit further!

THEN he could TOTALLY block the doorway between the kitchen and the living room.

As it is he misses it by thaaaaaat much! 😉

  1. Your heart must melt when he does things like this! Now, you’ve got me thinking about how I’m going to use this stamp…stay tuned 🙂 You did a great job painting and designing.

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – I find most things he does way too cute! Thanks very much, Karen! 🙂

  2. Such a pretty card! Thanks for sharing the painting technique with the pastels and Wink Of Stella! Tell Finn that he’ll have another growth spurt if he channels his inner Great Dane. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – think I’ll keep that one to myself. He’s PLENTY big enough right now! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  3. I missed you live, but watched the video last night. I heard you all talking about me and my love for LLT-NOT! I guess it is nice to be remembered. 🙂
This is not my favorite card of the ones you have done, but I was glad to hear about the pastels. Somehow I missed those in the catty. I always learn something from your videos-even if it is to measure twice, cut once!
I am glad you noticed that Finn has perfect length legs! Funny how that works. 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Yep. That adage is as true in cardmaking as in construction, for sure! And your love of LLT was legendary! 😉 Thanks, Julie!

  4. Susan K

Well, aren’t you clever—to think of using that Daisy Garden set behind the Picture This dies! And the Stitched Greenery adds the perfect touch! I love that!
Finn might need to learn to turn his body just a tad…if he keeps working, he can fill that doorway!

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – that’s my worry – that he’ll finally get the geometry just right! LOL! Thanks – and the idea came during our last SU event – one of the demonstrations did this layout! Thanks, Susan! 🙂
