Stampin’ Up! Pansy Patch Petals for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  We’ve got a sketch challenge to work with today and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table!  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

I decided to go all flower-dy – and somewhere between my normal 467 layers and a Clean-and-Simple card for you today – and I pulled out my Pansy Patch Bundle, the Scalloped Contours Die Set and some gorgeous plaid paper from the Pansy Petals DSP to get it done.  Take a look-see:

And here’s our sketch. I turned it on its side!

My color palette was inspired by this week’s Global Design Project challenge.

The TGIF Technique challenge made me realize that our sketch could easily be a “window” card!

And – the Tic Tac Toe challenge had a lot of elements for me to choose from.  I ended up with Friendship – Any Color – Sentiment.  And Free.  And Any Shape Die! 🙂

I started by adhering a piece of Fresh Freesia plaid paper from the Pansy Petals DSP to a Blackberry Bliss mat for the card front.

Next, I used the next-to-largest die in the Scalloped Contours Die set to cut a Basic White rectangle.  From that I cut out the next-to-SMALLEST rectangle.

I ran the larger die cut thru the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine in the Checks folder from the Checks & Dots Embossing Folders.

On the smaller die cut, I stamped the sentiment from Pansy Patch in Blackberry Bliss – towards the left side of the rectangle.

I did a dry fit of the two pieces and determined where the sentiment would be positioned on the card front – then adhered it with Liquid Glue.

I used Stampin’ Seal – and a couple of Glue Dots on the back – to adhere two pieces of Blackberry Bliss 3/8″ Striped Ribbon (retiring SOON – so if you love it, get it quick!) on either side of the adhered sentiment.

Then I popped the embossed panel over the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Tip: don’t be stingy with the Dimensionals when you’re making this card – you want that panel solidly Popped Up!

For the pansy, I cut two smaller leaves from Fresh Freesia 2021-2023 In Color Shimmer Vellum and the larger petals die cut from Basic White.  These dies emboss as they cut!  On the Basic White piece, I stamped the flower center from Pansy Patch in stamped-off-once Fresh Freesia.

I die cut the small Blackberry Bliss detailed pieces and adhered them to the vellum petals with Liquid Glue.  The larger flower got a Fresh Freesia detailed die cut and a Blackberry Bliss “face”.  Then I adhered the vellum leaves to the back of the cardstock part of the flower with Liquid Glue.

I cut some Pear Pizzazz leaves – solid and detailed – and used a Blending Brush to color some of the pieces with Pear Pizzazz ink.  Then I adhered them together with Liquid Glue.

I adhered all the leaves with Liquid Glue – then added the flower with a Stampin’ Dimensional.  I stuck a single Matte Black Dot in the middle of the flower “face”.

To finish off, I adhered a small bow tied with the Blackberry Bliss 3/8″ Striped Ribbon with a Glue Dot.  Then I stuck a single Bumblebee Trinket on the flower with a Glue Dot.

Finally – a few Fresh Freesia 2021-2023 In Color Jewels completed the card front!

On the inside, I stamped a second Pansy Patch sentiment in Blackberry Bliss on a Basic White panel.  In the corner, I added a pansy.  I stamped the large solid image in Fresh Freesia: First, I inked the stamp – then used a Blending Brush on the stamp to remove some of the ink.  Gives a different – nicer! – look to the color on a photopolymer stamp! 🙂

After stamping the solid flower – I added detail in Blackberry Bliss and Fresh Freesia – and a Matte Black Dot to the middle of the flower.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Blackberry Bliss mat and into my Pear Pizzazz card base – popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the stamped pansy on the front – I used a Black Stampin’ Write Marker for the middle of the “face”…

…and more pretty plaid Pansy Petals DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Sorta clean – mostly simply – and all gorgeous, thanks to the stunning Pansy Patch stamp set and bundled Pansy Dies with the Pansy Petals DSP bringing its pretty pea-pickin’ perfect plaid (okay – I’ll stop!) to the….party.  Sorry.  Hadta do it.  😉

I hope you like!

  5. Beautiful card, Mary. Love all the detail, embossing…

  6. WOW! Stunning! And Amy was concerned about putting the bow on the wrong side! You totally use your creative license to turn the card on its side and use the dies to cut the sentiment piece…inside a larger one. As I said, stunning.
