Stampin’ Up! Flowering Cactus Happy Birthday Card!

Mornin’, y’all – and happy Monday!  Hope you’ve got a good week ahead of you as we head into Easter weekend!

Now, you guys know that I’m all about clean-and-simple.  The fewer the layers and embellishments – the happier I am!

😳

Bwaahahahahaha!!

No – you know that’s not true!  But, sometimes, I fight my inclination to layer-layer-layer and end up trying a clean-and-simple card.  Like today!  I just got the cool Flowering Cactus Medley and opened it right up.  I used it – and just a couple of additional goodies to make a CAS birthday card.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week.

I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock that I embossed in the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder (which is…RETIRING! 🙁 ) and then matted on Calypso Coral for the card front.

I cut a piece of the pretty DSP included in the Flowering Cactus Medley, matted it on Calypso Coral and adhered it to the bottom of the card front.

There’s a two-pack of Linen Thread in the Medley – one in …Linen Thread color and one in Calypso Coral.  I wrapped the latter around the card front a few times, securing it in the back with Glue Dots.  Then I tied a little bow around the threads.

I used the dies in the Medley to cut a cactus – this is part of the DSP – there’s a pattern with images that fit the dies…

…and adhered it to the card front.  Then I used Liquid Glue to add a couple of Calypso Coral felt embellishment flowers!

On a piece of Basic White – I stamped the sentiment from the included Flowering Cactus stamp set in Calypso Coral and cut it with the smallest skinny Stitched Rectangle Die.

I popped that on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Flowering Cactus sentiment in Calypso Coral on a Basic White panel.  In the corner I added a cactus – I used Sponge Daubers to add ink to the image in Mint Macaron and Mossy Meadow.  Then I added the flowers in stamped-off-once Calypso Coral.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Calypso Coral mat and into my Mossy Meadow card base – popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got another sponge-daubered Flowering Cactus on the front…

…and a little more of the DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This is such a cool medley – I hope that you’ve got it already or are planning to get it!  It’s really got everything you need – from the Flowering Cactus stamp set and bundled Flowering Cactus dies.  Plus gorgeous DSP (including the one that has the die-cut-out-able images!), felt embellishments, and two rolls of Linen Thread! All you do is add the basics – cardstock and adhesives!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

So – as promised – here’s what was in Finn’s Easter package the other day!

HE knew what it was as soon as I set it on the counter to open!

HURRYHURRYHURRY!!

Inside was a chock-a-block-full basket of yumminess from The Hungry Hound!  (Finn has requested a road trip – I’ve tried to explain the distance between here and NJ, but…he doesn’t care!!).

I wasn’t HURRYHURRYHURRYING nearly fast enough!

I was trying – I really was, but…

Getting the outer wrapper off revealed a ton of cookies – and plastic Easter eggs with dog-friendly chocolate “candies”.

FINALLY – I got an Ice Cream Cone out for him. 🙂

Finn says….”Thank you, Ginny and Miss Amy!  And Aunty Karen for helping!”

Love your CAS card. I love the calypso cs and piece of dsp. I will try to remember to out a piece of dsp along the bottom of my next card.
Also love Finn’s reaction to his Easter trears.

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – to say he was anxious for me to get it open is a pretty big understatement! 😉 Thanks, Karen! 🙂

  3. Wow! That IS pretty CAS…and really pretty too!! 🙂 Love the colors. Glad that Finn is enjoying his Easter basket. 🙂

Hi Mary, your card is beautiful even if it IS CAS!! I have ‘almost’ gotten that whole suite of products so many times……but didn’t……and wish I had every time I see someone use it. The DSP especially is what catches my eye.
Finn’s Easter basket is ADORABLE!! Whoever knew there were Easter goodies for doggies……(I’m not telling Buiffy)

Thanks, Faith – I am loving it way more than I thought I would, for sure! And yes – the Hungry Hound has PLENTY of goodies for puppies. Buffy would approve!!
