Good morning and happy Friday! Again! I hope you had a great week – our weather has been making us head out first thing in the mornings and get to working on the garden! Yesterday we got the strawberries and potatoes in the ground! The day before, a friend came over and helped us divide our huge thyme plant (that I bought last year at the grocery store!) and we planted the divisions along the rock wall. This is absolutely my favorite time of the year!!!
If you were able to join me for my YouTube live yesterday, I appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If not, here’s the replay!
This card is a fun-fold that my friend Kristi Gray did on yesterday’s Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop. I liked it so much that I shamelessly copied it for you! Mine, though, uses the Butterfly Bijou 6″ x 6″ DSP and the Oval Occasions stamp set. Take a look-see:
The layout was inspired by the sketch over at The Spot challenge.
I started with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Early Espresso cardstock. I cut 1 3/4″ off the end – along the long side – and kept that cut-off piece for later. I scored and folded the cardstock at 1 7/8″ from each short end to create the small panels.
I cut a couple of strips of Natural Touch Specialty Paper and adhered them to the bottom front panel.
Next, I cut two pieces of Butterfly Bijou 6″ x 6″ DSP and matted them on Mint Macaron then adhered them to the outside of each short panel with Liquid Glue.
I matted another piece of the DSP on Mint Macaron and adhered it to the 1 3/4″ piece I cut off at the start. Then I adhered just the top inch or so to the top panel of the card front, using Liquid Glue.
I cut the second-to-largest circle Stitched Shapes Die from a piece of Natural Touch Specialty Paper and adhered it to the bottom of the vertical panel.
I matted a piece of Basic White cardstock on Mint Macaron and adhered it to the inside of the card. Then, I closed the card up and, in the space that’s visible – I stamped the Oval Occasions sentiment in Mint Macaron.
With a long piece of Linen Thread, I tied a loose figure-8 bow and adhered it to the Natural Touch circle with a Glue Dot.
Using the big die in Brilliant Wings, I cut the butterflies – there are SIX of them! – from one of the Butterfly Bijou DSP designs. I popped the big Bumble Bee flutterby over the Linen Bow with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I added some Bumble Bee 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots and the card front was done.
To finish off the inside, I matted another piece of Butterfly Bijou DSP on Mint Macaron and adhered it to the inner liner with Liquid Glue – making sure that it was hidden when the card is closed – and the card was done.
My Basic White Medium Envelope got one of the butterflies from the Butterfly Brilliance stamp set in Tuxedo Black on the front. I colored it with my Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends…
…and I added more of the Natural Touch Specialty Paper to the envelope flap.
Et Voila! So…have I convinced you of the total awesomeness of the Butterfly Bouquet suite, yet? If you’re loving this Butterfly Bijou 6″ x 6″ DSP and Natural Touch Specialty Paper – you need to get it right away! It’s only available until 3 May – or while supplies last!! The Butterfly Brilliance and bundled Brilliant Wings die set WILL be back in the next annual catalog – but…now’s a great time to get it! Finn’s hands are almost as big as the plate! He is so adorable. So glad you are able to enjoy gardening…not my strong suit! I can’t wait to watch the replay. Your card is fantastic!
I do enjoy it – mostly! 🙂 Thank you very much, Karen!! 🙂
Such a pretty card! Love that butterfly paper. Sorry that I missed your live yesterday! Yeah…you have to hold that plate just right to get every last nibble. 😉
Yup – or even…just the design printed on the now very-empty plate! 😉 Thanks, Amy! 🙂
What a beautiful and creative take on the sketch! I love your layering and that bow….well, I really love everything about it. TFS
Finn looks happy washing your dishes. Does he do windows too? 😂
I wish!! But…no. No windows for Finn. Thank you so much, Susan! 🙂
