Well – here we are! HAWWWMP DAY!!! And only two days away from Brian King’s Stamping Event (on Friday) and then Onstage on Saturday!! Whoo-hoo!! It’s going to be a great weekend, y’all! 🙂
Now – on a slightly more somber note – I had need of a sympathy card this week. 🙁 So…I pulled out my Woven Heirlooms bundle and…some Feels Like Frost Specialty DSP to make one. Take a look-see:
The layout is loosely based on the sketch side of this week’s FUSION challenge.
I started with two pieces of the Feels Like Frost Specialty DSP – both of the same pattern. I matted one piece on Smoky Slate for the card front.
From the second piece, I cut the oval frame from the Heirloom Frames die set. Then I embossed the frame in the matching 3D Embossing Folder.
I placed Stampin’ Dimensionals around the back of the frame and adhered it to the card front – aligning the pattern.
On the cut-out piece (the oval from the middle of the die cut frame), I used my Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment from Woven Heirlooms in Highland Heather ink.
I cut the second-largest scalloped oval from Smoky Slate using the Ovals Layering Dies and adhered the sentiment to it with Liquid Glue.
I slid the matted sentiment inside the popped-up frame and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.
For the embellishment, I cut two little flowers with the Frosted Frames dies from Vellum card stock and one from Highland Heather card stock. I also cut a Vellum pine bough with the Beautiful Boughs dies.
I colored the backs of the Frosted Frames vellum die cut flowers with my Dark Highland Heather Stampin’ Blend and the back of the pine boughs with my Dark and Light Pretty Peacock Blends.
I spread Shimmery Crystal Effects on the vellum die cuts and sprinkled them with Ice Stampin’ Glitter.
I created a “bouquet” by adhering the stems together with Liquid Glue – then adhered it to the frame with more Liquid Glue.
I tied a double-loop bow using a length of Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine and one of Silver Metallic Thread, then added it with a Glue Dot. A Pretty Peacock gem from the Noble Peacock Rhinestones pack finished it off.
On the inside, I used my Stamparatus to add a second sentiment from Woven Heirlooms in Highland Heather on a Whisper White panel. Over that, I stamped the flower from the Frosted Foliage stamp set in Highland Heather that I stamped off THREE times before stamping the panel. I added another Pretty Peacock gem to finish it off!
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Smoky Slate mat and into my Pretty Peacock card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Frosted Foliage flowers on the front in Highland Heather – I stamped the image four times without re-inking…
…and another piece of the Feels Like Frost Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! I hate needing this card, but…I hope that it will bring a smile to the recipient. I love how several different bundles – some that are “holiday/Christmas” sets! – can be pulled together to make an unrelated card. Woven Heirlooms is a beautiful set in its own right – and is especially gorgeous with the Feels Like Frost Specialty DSP and images from Frosted Foliage! I hope you like!

Such a pretty card! That designer paper is perfect, love the die cut frame too. 🙂 Glad that Finn got a little trot around the place in after a long ride in the car!
Yep – he had to streeeeeetch those legs!! Thanks much, Amy! 🙂
Yes, I like. I haven’t even used my set yet! Sad occasion, beautiful card AND I think you nailed the Fusion sketch…maybe even the colors. I think maybe Finn has filled out more in a year 🙂
Thanks so much, Karen! And yes – he’s definitely filled out! 🙂
That is a totally gorgeous card, Mary…..love everything about it……except that it was needed, of course. I’m sure it will bless the recipient.
Thank you so much, Faith! 🙂
Mary, this card is beautiful. A perfect sympathy card. Sorry for your loss.
Thanks – it was a relative of a friend! 🙁 Appreciate you, Gerri! 🙂
