Good morning! Happy Post-World-Card-Making Day!! If you were able to join us yesterday for our Inkin’ Krew World Card Making Day EVENT (yes – I meant to shout – cuz it was awesome!!) – I hope you had a most wonderful time. And maybe learned a little and got some new ideas, tips and techniques!
And…just had some fun!
So – I did two videos yesterday – the first brought you the Christmas Countdown Project Kit. I’ll showcase that one again next week! My second video was our “normal” Saturday night video! If you’d like to see the YouTube replay – here ’tis!
For any of you who’ve been following me for any time, you know that a Double-Easel Fold is one of my very favorites!! I love how much “wow” factor there is – with so little extra effort! The new Christmas Rose stamp set – and bundled Rose Dies, plus the Christmastime is Here Specialty DSP (all available on 1 November with the arrival of the Christmastime is Here Suite) – is a perfect candidate for this fold. Take a look-see:
Why two pictures? Well…the card on the left is the sample card and the card on the right is on the one I demo’d last night. Same exact fold – same stamp and die set, and the same DSP (turned over!).
I started with the “mat” (Poppy Parade or Mossy Meadow) – which is 4″ x 10 1/4″ – scored/folded at 5 1/2” and then scored/folded in the opposite direction at 7 3/4” to create the double easel. The 5 1/2” fold is a “valley” and the 7 3/4” fold is a “mountain”.
I cut the two pieces of the Christmastime is Here Specialty DSP and used Liquid Glue to adhere the larger piece to the top panel and the smaller piece to the middle panel.
On a small piece of Whisper White, I stamped a sentiment from the Christmas Rose stamp set – in Poppy Parade or Cherry Cobbler. I added a fluer-de-loo cut from Mossy Meadow using the die from the bundled Rose Dies.
Then I adhered the panel to the front small easel panel.
The roses on each card are the same exact image – in two different ways! For the sample card – I used my Stamparatus to stamp the large image (this is a Cling Stamp) from Christmas Rose in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a piece of Whisper White. Then I colored it with the fill-in stamps in the set (these are photopolymer!). I used Poppy Parade for the roses, Mossy Meadow and Old Olive for the leaves and boughs, and Cherry Cobbler and Blushing Bride for for the berries. I stamped the pine cones in Early Espresso and then touched them with Golden Glitz Delicata Ink using a Blender Pen (I show how to do this on the video!). Then I cut it out with the large die in the Rose Dies set.
The flower for the second card is simply cut from the Christmastime is Here Specialty DSP using that same large die! Wowza – how easy is that?!? 🙂
I used Liquid Glue on the bottom portion of each cut to adhere it to the bottom panel of the double-easel. Then I finished them off with some new Gold Glitter Enamel Dots (coming 1 Nov in the Christmastime is Here Suite).
Finally – I adhered the entire easel panel to the card front with Liquid Glue.
On the inside, I added a second sentiment from the Christmas Rose stamp set – in Poppy Parade or Cherry Cobbler. On the first card, I added the rose image – stamping it as I had done for the front. For my second card, I cut out another of the Christmastime is Here Specialty DSP roses and adhered it to the corner. Then I trimmed it off with my new Paper Trimmer. And I saved the pieces!
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to my mat (Poppy Parade or Mossy Meadow) and then into my card base (the sample card has a Mossy Meadow card base and the video card has a Basic Black card base) and the card was done!
My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another rose on the front – either stamped or….I adhered one of the leftover pieces of the Christmastime is Here Specialty DSP rose that I’d saved! – on the front…
…and I added some more of the Christmastime is Here Specialty DSP to the envelope flap.
Et Voila (x2!)! I LOVE this new Christmastime is Here Suite – the versatility is huge! I am a serious fan of dies that cut out gorgeous images like these Rose Dies cut from the Christmastime is Here Specialty DSP, aren’t you? And the Christmas Rose stamp set – oh. My. Goodness!! The combination of Cling and Photopolymer media is genius – we get the best of both worlds!! I hope you like and are marking your calendars and counting down to 1 Nov!
Oh – you want it now? Well…give me a shout! Folks who sign up to join our SU! team can select this Suite for their Starter Kit!! AND you can get the new Trimmer right now, too! Drop me a line!

Beautiful cards Mary! Love them both. 🙂 Finn is definitely helping a lot with the roof…he’s helping to clean up the crumbs and such and “supervising”. 😉
He’s a heckuva supervisor. I also think he could be an undercover OSHA agent, but…I have no proof… 🙂 Thanks, Amy! 🙂
This new set is fantastic and so are your cards. I’m sure Finn does not eat Peanut M&M’s. But does he eat a sandwich or is it just wishful thinking on his part. That looks like a mighty hot, risky task Wayne’s got there.
He WOULD eat a peanut M&M but…no. Those aren’t things we’d give him on purpose! Peanut butter sammich?!? OH HECK yea he would!! Right quick. And – while his Dad wouldn’t give him the WHOLE thing, I can easily imagine him giving him a bite. He’s a bit of a pushover… 😉 And yes – Wayne worked his hiney off on that roof – I’ve got some more pics to share thru the week!! 🙂 Thanks, Karen! 🙂
Beautiful card…….that is a very simple fold & does pack a WOW factor!!
Just a comment about the new paper trimmer………don’t you think they missed the mark by NOT putting the measurement scale above the top rail also?? I watched the video on the use of the old versus the new & it just seems that the measurement scale at the top was very useful & the new measurement scale just leaves a little bit to be desired!! Just my own observation…….any comment??
Thanks, Karen – it’s one of my favorite folds! So – I used the trimmer again today making some cards and…yea. I wish they’d added the measurement above in the same way the old one is done. That said – I suspect we’ll get used to the format – and I can say that I really like how this trimmer cuts – very smooth and the cuts are clean! So…the good and the less-than-ideal? 😉
