Stampin’ Up! Piggy’s, Hugs and a Cup of Cheer Get Well Card

Hey y’all – you did it!  You made it to Friday!  Take a moment to pat yourselves on the back for getting thru another work week! 😉

I needed a very special – and personalized! – get well card this week.  So…I pulled out a couple three sets – including the Cup of Christmas Bundle from the 2019 Holiday Catalog and the This Little Piggy and Healing Hugs sets from the Annual Catalog.  I paired these up with some Come To Gather DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from the Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge this week.

I started by matting three different patterns from the Come To Gather DSP on Pretty Peacock cardstock and then building the card front with Liquid Glue.

The sentiment, from Healing Hugs, is stamped in Cajun Craze on a strip of Whisper White.  Then I snipped a banner end – and edged it with my Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Write Marker.  It’s adhered at a jaunty angle with Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Whisper White, I stamped the Cup of Christmas sentiment in Pretty Peacock and the polka dot cup (in the left-handed configuration – these are cool stamps that you flip over to get a mirror image!).  I cut the cups with the die in the Cup of Cheer set – then fussy cut the white border from the polka dot cup. I colored the leaves and berries on the sentiment mug with my Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze Stampin’ Write Markers.

With the dies in the Cup of Cheer set, I cut some Crushed Curry boughs, and I used the Sprig Punch to cut a few Pear Pizzazz leaves.  I adhered those to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I used a length of Linen Thread and one of Cajun Craze Linen Thread (from the Come To Gather Ribbon Combo pack) to tie a big loose bow that I adhered to the card front – over the leaves – with a Glue Dot.

I popped the two cups on with Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To finish it all off, I added some Pretty Peacock gems from the Noble Peacock Rhinestone pack and the card front was done!

Okay – so now comes some fun! 🙂

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from the Healing Hugs set in Pretty Peacock on a Whisper White panel.  Then, in the corner – I added the little pretty piggy from This Little Piggy in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink!  She’s colored with my Light and Dark Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends – the flower is colored with the Crushed Curry and Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Markers.  I added a pink (Melon Mambo) Noble Peacock Rhinestone by the sentiment and a green (Old Olive) in the middle of the flower.

i used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pretty Peacock mat and into my Cajun Craze card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got Miss Piggy on the front…

…and some more of the Come To Gather DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love the fun mirror-image stamps in the Cup of Christmas stamp set – they work really well and open up a world of options for your card projects!  And the Cup of Cheer Dies are handy as can be to quickly cut those images out!  As you might guess – the recipient of this card likes…pigs!  So the This Little Piggy set is the perfect fit – as is the Healing Hugs sentiments.  It’s so handy to have so many tools in our “tool chest”!  I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Yesterday, we went over to Alabama to take our taxes to the accountant.  We’ve been going to him since…1992?…so….it’s just what we do.  Kind of an annual rite of passage.

He’s really good about letting us bring Finn – so we’ve taken him each year we’ve had him.

Finn’s always up for a ride.

But – it’s a long ride, so…a guy can only stay “on the edge” for so long…

As the ride progresses he settles in – only getting up again when we stop at the rest area.

NEVER pass up a rest area.  It’s kind of our rule!

We spent the time at the accountant with Finn-y entertaining the receptionist and her daughter.

It’s not easy being adorable – there are fans everywhere!  Old fans and…NEW ones!

They didn’t even KNOW they were fans.

Now they do.

But – that is exhausting work.  And for a Star – it never ends until you’re back in the Limo.

He spent the entire two hour ride home totally sacked out.  To pooped to do much else until the very end of the ride.  He finally did he get up – he was thirsty and hungry (so he ate the rest of the cookies I’d brought along for him) and then….back to snoozing until we made it to the house!

  1. Cute card! Love the fun layering, perfect fall colors! Poor Finn…it is exhausting being so popular. 😉

Thanks, Amy! And yes – a star’s work is never done. He is always “on”! 😉

  2. She will love your creation. I’m making mine for her today but won’t post it til next week. Finn is just the cutest pup no matter what state he is in. Have a great weekend.

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – he takes his “cute” everywhere he goes! Thanks, Karen! 🙂

  3. Gerri K

Haha! He starts out so perky and energetic. In case you hadn’t guessed, I’m a Finn fan too.
Great Get Well card! Sure to put a smile on the recipient’s face.

    • stampsnlingers

He does! Sort of like a little furry dervish! And then… he settles down to just be a good boy! SO glad that you’re a Finn-Fan! Maybe I need to make t-shirts… 😉 Thanks, Gerri! 🙂

  4. Faith Simpson

    Hi Mary,
Loved your post today….great card!! The best thing about making cards is that we can personalize them for the person. I have friends who tell me they NEVER throw away a card I make.
AND I loved seeing Finn’s day. He looks so happy settled on his seat IN the car and NOT left at home.

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – he does like to go. On the other hand – he’s just as happy snoozing in his kennel, after eating a “kennel up” bone, with the tv on a good (dog-appropriate) movie, and the fan blowing gently upon him! He’s a pretty easy going dude! Thanks so much, Faith – I’m glad to know that your friends keep all your cards – a good feeling, yes?? 🙂

  5. What a beautiful card!! The recipient will feel better just looking at this!! 🙂
Thanks for playing along with us at Tuesday Morning Sketches!
