Stampin’ Up! Basketweave Friend Like You!

Good morning – welcome back to the work week!!  I hope it will fly as fast as I know the weekend went for you! 😉

Today is…NOT a sneak peek of the 2019 Holiday Catalog!

Instead – I went back to a lovely little stamp set from the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog called Friend Like You, which I paired up with the Basket Weave 3D Embossing Folder.  Take a look-see:

The color scheme is from the Color Throwdown challenge.

I started by stamping the wavy pattern from the Friend Like You stamp set on a Crumb Cake panel.  I stamped it twice to get all the way across the panel – first in Balmy Blue and then, offset a little (down), in Granny Apple Green.  Then I embossed the panel in the Basket Weave 3D Embossing Folder.  I cut the panel down to size and matted it on Daffodil Delight for the card front.

On a piece of Whisper White, I stamped the leaves/stem image in Granny Apple Green.  Then I inked just the cattails (on a second stamp) in Balmy Blue and stamped it.  Finally, I inked the flowers in Daffodil Delight (same stamp) and finished the image.  This is a photopolymer set – so it’s fairly easy to ink specific parts of the stamp.

I added a couple of Balmy Blue dragonflies.

I used a Stitched Nested Label Die to cut the art then I popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On another piece of Whisper White, I stamped a Friend Like You sentiment in Balmy Blue and cut it out with the small, narrow Stitched Rectangles die.  I used Liquid Glue and a Stampin’ Dimensional to adhere the sentiment.

I finished off with a few Woven Threads Sequins (adhered with Liquid Glue) and a bow tied from Granny Apple Green 1/2″ Textured Weave Ribbon (adhered with a Glue Dot) and the card front was done.

On the inside, I added a second Friend Like You sentiment in Balmy Blue on a Whisper White panel.  Over the top, I stamped the leaves, flowers and dragonflies – just like I’d done on the front – but here I stamped the images off once before stamping it over the sentiment.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Daffodil Delight mat and into my Balmy Blue card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got the flowers, leaves and dragonflies (in full strength ink) on the front…

…and on the envelope flap!

Et Voila! I love this pretty, any occasion, Friend Like You stamp set – it’s perfect for sending a little note to a friend for any day!  I hope you like!

  1. If only Finn knew how happy you make this gal (and others) with that camera, both for your cards and The Man! Don’t you just love that backpack in the inspiration photo? I’m also in bow envy again!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Karen! My bow-easy to the rescue again! 😉

  2. So pretty Mary! Love the colors and the background embossing is perfect. Poor Finn, he does have a tough life of being constantly hounded by the paparazzi! 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – the life of an A-list celeb is NOT all dog bones and puppy toys! It’s hard WORK – and a total lack of privacy! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  3. Love this card! And, I am sure you got Finn’s thought correct about the camera. Although, sometimes I think he is like the kids I used to photograph…hammin’ it up and loving the camera!

    • stampsnlingers

He IS sort of a ham – no doubt about that! Thanks very much, Julie! 🙂

  4. Wan
