Stampin’ Up! We’ll Walrus Be Friends Birthday!

Hey y’all!  Happy Friday!  Just make it thru the day and it’ll be the weekend!  And Father’s Day!! 🙂

So – I really ought to have a Father’s Day card to share with you – but…instead…birthday!  Using a so-cute little set called We’ll Walrus Be Friends.  Which – you can get in my Special Bundle #5 – Wild & Wiggly!  And the High Seas 3D Embossing Folder.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I started by embossing a Thick Whisper White panel in the new High Seas 3D Embossing Folder and matting it on Pool Party card stock for the card front.

I took the same folder and swiped the embossing side with my Seaside Spray ink pad, then I embossed a piece of Thick Whisper White card stock.  That created a sort of icy-looking sea, don’t you think?  I cut the panel down to size, matted it on Pool Party and then adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the We’ll Walrus Be Friends image on a piece of Whisper White and Vellum card stock in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I colored the walrus using my Light and Dark Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends.  His muzzle uses the Ivory Blend with the Light Gray Granite Blend laid over the top.

On the Whisper White image, I used my Balmy Blue Light and Dark Blends to color the water.  I used the same blends to color the back of the vellum water image.  And I used my Light and Dark Pool Party Blends on the back of the iceberg part of the vellum image.

I fussy cut the entire Whisper White image and just the iceberg and water of the Vellum image – then used Glue Dots to adhere the Vellum over the Whisper White image.  Then I popped the whole thing onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped sentiments from We’ll Walrus Be Friends on Pool Party,. Balmy Blue and Seaside Spray card stocks (I used a Sticky Note to mask off “hi” on the middle sentiment!), then cut them with the Classic Label Punch.  I edged each sentiment with my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker and popped them all on with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a few Noble Peacock Rhinestones and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added another We’ll Walrus Be Friends sentiment and a couple more fun images in Tuxedo Black to a Whisper White panel.  I used my Light and Dark Gray Granite, Balmy Blue and Pool Party Blends, plus the Ivory Blend, to color the images.  I added another Noble Peacock Rhinestone, too.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pool Party mat and into my Seaside Spray card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimemsionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more fishies on the front…

…and another Walrus on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  How.  Cute.  Is.  This.  Stamp set?!?  I mean…seriously.  We’ll Walrus Be Friends – another one you may have missed in the new catalog!  I do hope you’ll check it out – heck – get it with some other fun goodies in my Special Bundle #5 Wild & Wiggly and save a little green.  And – you can pick up the High Seas 3D Embossing Folder for FREE when you purchase Special Bundle # 6: Let’s Hear It For The Boys!  I hope you like!

New 3D Embossing Folder Plate Now Available!

The new 3D Embossing Folder Plate (item 149658) is now available to order! It’s designed to work with our new-style 3D embossing folders (which are thinner than our old-style Dynamic folders).

You can click on the picture above and open the flyer – then print it and keep it by your embossing machine and new 3D Embossing Folder Plate.  It’s got your new “sandwich” information right on it!

Remember that carryover 3D embossing folders will not be available to order at the start of the new catalog but I’ll let you know when they’re available to order.

Also keep in mind that we expect to receive staggered plate shipments in all markets during June and July as we build inventory. Which means, you may experience periods of time when it is unavailable to order if inventory is depleted; it will become available to order again when inventory is replenished.

How to Use the New Plate

The new plate makes up the difference in measurement between our old-style Dynamic Folders and our new-style 3D Folders in most die-cutting machines. The 3D Embossing Folder Plate replaces the Standard Cutting Pads in your 3D embossing folder sandwich for continued high-quality emboss results.

To create your emboss sandwich:

  • Use a die-cutting & embossing machine platform as a base; no matter which machine you’re using, use the standard platform which comes with your machine.
  • Use the 3D Embossing Folder with your paper in the middle.
  • Then use the 3D Embossing Folder Plate on top.

Given the differences in machines and platforms, you may still have to add a shim to get your desired embossing results. (You can also spritz your paper before embossing to maximize your embossed impressions.)

Without the new 3D Embossing Folder Plate, you will need to use several shims with the Standard Cutting Pad in your 3D embossing folder sandwich, depending on the die-cutting & embossing machine you use. Most machines will need between three to five sheets of cardstock to shim. Please be careful in how you shim; start out with fewer sheets first, then add sheets to get your desired results.  Stampin’ Up! won’t be responsible for replacing products broken due to using a sandwich which is too thick for a machine.

Finn Fan Fix

I’ve been working on the pantaloonies.

Hmmm – dog grooming maybe isn’t a viable third career for me, huh?  😉

  1. That is such a cute card but I think it’s the coloring you did that makes it so splendid. Third career? I can’t be the judge of that as I don’t know what a professional cutting looks like. I think you should just scale down to one career here with a side of writing of Finn’s photographed memoirs 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

I’m starting to think that way myself, Karen…closer and closer! Thanks so much! 🙂

  2. Susan K

I love your take on the sketch! That embossed sea is super for the cute walrus to float on! I predict another winner.
The Finnster doesn’t seem too excited to have his pic taken from behind. “Geez, Mom, privacy, please!”

    • stampsnlingers

Nah – that’s his “I’m to sexy for my pantaloonies, too se…xy” look! 🙂 Thanks so much, Susan! 🙂

  3. That card is just way too cute! Your coloring is perfect and I love the waves on the background! As for Finn’s back side…he doesn’t seem to care one bit. He didn’t even mind that you took a picture of his back side. So I’d say keep chopping. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Right?? He’s posing, don’t you think?!? Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂

  4. Darla

Super cute card! and super cute “pantaloonies.” I’m no dog grooming expert but I’m betting Finn feels much better! 🙂

  5. Jacquie

Love all the blues! Thanks for sharing with us at Freshly Made Sketches!

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you, Jacquie! Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  6. Adorable card. Love your embossing of the sea supporting the walrus. Finn is photogenic from any angle! Agree with Karen on the career path.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Julie – love this little set!! And yep – he’s a handsome guy from any vantage point! 🙂

  7. Hansi Brittain

I love the effect of ink swiping the embossed waves. Yes it does look icy and maybe a bit stormy.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Hansi – I was tickled with how it turned out! 🙂

  8. jentimko

This is just such fun! Love the walrus. So glad you joined us this week at FMS!
