Stampin’ UP! All Geared Up For Father’s Day

Good morning!  Hope your week is going well so far – we’re trying to come out the other side of the latest cold-snap here in Maryland.  Yesterday was so darned cold in the hangar (where our “office” is) that I could hardly type!  Supposed to get warmer tomorrow – so I’m keeping my frozen fingers crossed!

So – just to be sure we’re all on the same sheet of DSP…the news of my impending resignation from Stampin’ Up! yesterday was TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY an April Fool’s joke!  I will not be quitting any time soon – either Stampin’ Up! OR Blogging!  As long as you’ll read my ramblings – I’ll post them!  And, should the day ever come when I might need to leave – I’ll give you plenty (PLENTY!!) of warning.  I promise!

Okay?

For those of you who figured it out yesterday – and then took me up on my offer of Double Peppermints – good on ya! You know me too well!

Now – on to our card.  I thought I’d pull out a bundle that hasn’t seen the light of day for a minute – the Geared Up Garage and matching Garage Gears Thinlits.  Then I set it all atop some Classic Garage 6″ x 6″ DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from this week’s FUSION challenge.

And I played along with the Just Us Girls Wild-Card Week challenge.

I started with some paper from the Classic Garage 6″ x 6″ DSP and embossed it in the Hexagons Dynamic TIEF.  Then I matted it on Real Red for the card front.

The banner is a second piece of Classic Garage DSP – and I cut the banner end in it by sliding it half way into the Tailored Tag Punch (yes, I left my Banner Triple Punch at home – you can for sure use that if you’ve got it handy!).  I matted it to a Real Red banner that I cut in the same manner, then I adhered it all to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I cut the gears from a third piece of the Classic Garage DSP – that design perfectly matches the large die in the Garage Gears Thinlits!  I also cut the gears a second time – this time from Real Red card stock – and adhered the two die cuts together with Liquid Glue to add a little dimension.  Then I adhered them to the banner.

I used my Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment from Geared Up Garage on Whisper White.  With my Stampin’ Write Markers in Real Red, Tranquil Tide, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie – I colored the various elements of the rubber image and stamped it on the card stock.  The Stamaparatus lets you stamp multiple times in the exact same spot – and lets you layer on color as much as you want! 🙂

I fussy cut the sentiment – and used the matching die in the Garage Gears Thinlits to cut a Real Red mat, then I adhered them together with Liquid Glue.

I popped the sentiment on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I threaded a length of Linen Thread thru a Classic Garage Metal Element and tied a bow, then I added it with a Glue Dot and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used my Stamparatus again to stamp the Camaro (Mustang??) image from Geared Up Garage.  I inked the image in Smoky Slate, stamped it off once, and added it to the middle of a Whisper White panel.  Over that, I added a sentiment in Real Red.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Real Red mat and into my Basic Gray card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got the Geared Up Garage Camastang in Smoky Slate (full strength) on the front…

….and I added some more of the Classic Garage DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Perfectly perfect for Father’s Day, don’t you think?  I really love how the dies in the Garage Gears Thinlits cut out the printed designs in the Classic Garage 6″ x 6″ DSP, don’t you?  And the Geared Up Garage stamp set offers great sentiments and coordinating images to make all the masculine cards you need this year!  Hope you like!

  1. Cool card Mary! Love the design, perfect colors too. The hexagon embossed background is fantastic! 🙂

  2. Kate

    Very colorful!
You snookered some yesterday M’love, but not your canny old Mom out to Colorado! 😆

    • stampsnlingers

Nope – you know me way too well! Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  3. Nor me! However…your card today is a GREAT guy card. With a different front sentiment it could be for any occasion. I am in process of making the Garage set into a retirement card. Would also be a great teen boy card as we all know they love their cars. Looks like Finn is ready to bring mama home.

Thanks, Julie – and you’re so right! This a really versatile bundle! 🙂

  4. This card is amazing! I love how you listed your instructions to make this perfect manly card. And the inside looks great as well. Thanks so much for sharing this with us at JUGS!
