Stampin’ Up! A Well Written Ride Thank You

Happy Super Bowl Sunday, y’all!  I know for at least a portion of the country – perhaps mostly in the New England and Los Angelas areas??! – this is a long-awaited day. 🙂  I do enjoy the game – if it’s a good one – but I really mostly enjoy the commercials, let’s be honest!  So – I hope they’re good this year.  It’s such a let-down when Wayne and I look at each other and think “meh…I’d have fast forwarded thru THAT one!”

Because there IS this big game that a lot of folks will want to watch – including me! – we’re not going to do a video tonight!  Sorry!  But I’ll be back next week, so don’t despair!

I showed y’all the wonderful gift that our vet sent us to commemorate and remind us of our good horse, Bo.  Didn’t see it?  Check it right here – scroll down to the Finn Fan Fix!  As a result of that kindness, I decided to make them a thank you card.  It seemed fittin’ to use the Let It Ride stamp set again – and this time I used sentiments from the awesome new Well Said Cling stamp bundle.  Take a look-see:

I got some help with the layout from this week’s Global Design Project sketch challenge.

And I also played along with the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge (love me some Tic-Tac-Toe challenge!) at the Paper Craft Crew!  I went right across the bottom.  Although a case could also be made for down the left side!

I started with a panel of Crumb Cake card stock and, using my Stamparatus, stamped the super-perfect pine tree image from Let It Ride right smack across it (the hinge step is PERFECT for this!) in Mossy Meadow ink.  I added some decorative “stitching” around the edge with my Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Marker, then ran it thru the Big Shot in the Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF.

I matted it on Blackberry Bliss card stock with Liquid Glue to make the card front.

I wrapped a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon around the panel, securing it in the back with Glue Dots.  Then I added a couple of wraps of Nature’s Twine in Blackberry Bliss.

On another piece of Crumb Cake, I stamped the horses from Let It Ride in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I colored one horse with the Dark and Light Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends and the other with the Smoky Slate Blends.  Then I cut it out with an oval Stitched Shapes Framelit die.

I popped the art oval over the ribbon and twine with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the sentiment, I used the new Well Written Framelits to cut “thanks” in Blackberry Bliss card stock, which I adhered to the oval with Liquid Glue.

I tied a bow from the Nature’s Twine and adhered it to a small True Gentleman Button with a Glue Dot – then I adhered that to the oval with a second Glue Dot.  And the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from Well Said in Blackberry Bliss to a Crumb Cake panel.  Over that, in stamped-off-THREE-times Mossy Meadow (so this is the fourth stamp without re-inking), I added the pine trees from Let It Ride.  I used my Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Marker to add more of the decorative “stitching”.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Blackberry Bliss mat and into my Crumb Cake card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another Let It Ride pine image in Mossy Meadow on the front…

…and again on the envelope flap.  And – once again, I opened the flap and repeated the stamped image (thank you Stamparatus!).

Et Voila!  I hope this Let It Ride card, with the perfect Well Said sentiments, will let them know how much I appreciated their kindness on 11 January.  And again with their thoughtful gift.  I hope you like!

I love your card. It is perfect to acknowledge the receipt of such a thoughtful gift. It is so important to have a guard dog on duty, you never know who or what might come along to impede your progress. Years ago we had a big lab cross. She loved to lay on our deck and sleep while I was gardening. One day she leaped off the deck, barking ferociously. I looked up to see what she was barking at and came face to face with a big bear. Fortunately there was a chain link fence and a spilled out bird feeder between us. He was less than 20 feet away. I don’t know how he got so close without us hearing him but needless to say I grabbed the dog and we beat a hasty retreat to the house.

Beautiful card Mary and how wonderful that your vet was thinking about you… I also have an excellent vet for my Sadie … he has been wonderful with all of my 3 dals.. Thank you for sharing this today…

    • stampsnlingers

A great vet is a wonderful thing. You HOPE you never have to see them – all the time knowing you WILL. A good one makes all the difference – and I’m glad you’ve had one, Bernice! Thanks so much! 🙂

  7. Susan K

It never ceases to amaze me how you can create the perfect card for a special reason from whatever sketch is current. Perfect sentiment inside too. Thoughtful of Finnman to guard from the outside, putting himself out in the elements like that to guard you. Have a good day.

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – he’s putting himself between me and all danger. He’s quite the man! Thank you very much, Susan! 🙂

  8. What a fantastic masculine card! Thank you for joining the Paper Craft Crew this week.
