Stampin’ Up! Let it Ride Flowing Fountain Sympathy

Hey, ya’ll!  Hope the week is going well for you!

I had need this past week – sadly – for a card for a friend-of-a-friend who suddenly lost their horse.  They’d had her for most of her life and she was well loved.  She wasn’t old – wasn’t sick.  Was fine in the morning, and colic’d and was gone by the evening.  Which is worse on so many levels.  So, my friend asked me to make a card for her people.

As luck would have it, we have a wonderful new horse set now – the Let It Ride stamp set!  So I pulled it out and then added a perfect couple of sentiments from the Flowing Fountain stamp set.  Take a look-see:

My layout was inspired by this week’s sketch at Inspire.Create.

Jan could only tell me that the mare was a black-and-white pinto, with more black than white.  So…I sort of had to wing the colors.

I started with a panel of Gray Granite card stock and, using my Stampartus, stamped it with the Crackle Paint background stamp with Gray Granite ink.

Then I stamped a line of the wonderful trees from the Let It Ride set in Mossy Meadow across the middle of the panel.  I ran the card stock thru the Big Shot in the Subtle Dynamic TIEF and matted it on Crumb Cake to make the card front.

I cut a Crumb Cake doily using the large die in the new Doily Builder Thinlits and ran THAT thru the Subtle Dynamic TIEF, too.   I adhered the doily to the card front with Liquid Glue.

For the art, I used my Stamparatus to stamp the horse in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a piece of Gray Granite, then cut it with a Rectangle Stitched Framelit die.  I also used the Stamparatus to add the sentiment – from Flowing Fountain – in Mossy Meadow.  I think that’s pretty much the absolutely perfect sentiment for any sympathy card, don’t you?!

I colored the horse with my Light and Dark Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends – and then lifted some more color with the Color Lifter.  Then I adhered the panel to the card front with Liquid Glue.

For the embellishments, I first laid down a strip of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon, using Glue Dots.  Then I colored a length of the new Whisper White 5/8″ Flax Ribbon with my Dark Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blend and adhered it with Glue Dots.

I added a True Gentleman Button and a Corrugated Element heart with Glue Dots.  Then I tied a Double-loop Billie Bow with the new Old Olive Linen Thread and a simple Linen Thread bow (with two lengths of thread) and added them, too.  And that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I added a second Flowing Fountain sentiment to a Very Vanilla panel in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Over that, I added the trees from Flowing Fountain in stamped-off-once Mossy Meadow.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Crumb Cake mat and into my Mossy Meadow card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a Flowing Fountain tree on the front in Mossy Meadow…

…and I added the same image on the envelope flap.  I actually stamped it once with the flap closed (using the Stamparatus) – then I opened the flap and stamped it again!

Et Voila! I was really pleased with how this one turned out and – judging by her reaction when she saw it – so was my friend.  The new Let It Ride set is perfect – the trees are great.  The horse images are really wonderful – realistic and gorgeous!  So this is one that will stay on my shelves!  I also love the sentiments – particularly the one I used on the front – from the Flowing Fountain set, don’t you!?  I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

The other night on my video, I mentioned the gorgeous sunset we’d seen that evening.  And I said I didn’t think that the pictures I’d taken would do it justice.  I was wrong! Check this out!

Now – to make it Finn-related…he was with us as we were headed to the barn to feed the ponies! 🙂

And – I have a second little something that’s Finn-adjacent.

My friends in Florida sent me a wonderful – and totally unexpected! – gift today!  Take a look-see:

That’s cut from 1/4″ thick steel and painted black!  Is that cool or what!?

Thank you, ladies!!  So much!

The South is beautiful – like any spot, it has it’s good and bad. But that sunset – on that not-too-awfully-cold evening – was really one of the better moments! Be careful in that heat! Thanks, Rosalie! 🙂

  2. What a wonderful gift. It looks like a silhouette of Finn. Those thoughtful ladies from FL…wish I had been one of them. Maybe I need to move to Sebring? Your card is another beauty with heart and soul put into it. I can only imagine the feelings that were going on in your head. I almost ordered that set but I only knew two people with horses who would appreciate receiving a card with a horse on it so I passed. Now I wish I hadn’t. I also passed on the fountain set and now… Stampin’ Up! should have a reward for the demos who create cards that make people want to buy their product after they have said “no” and passed 🙂 Oh, perhaps they do … maybe an incentive trip!
