Stampin’ Up! Golden Afternoon Sympathy

Happy happy Hawwmp Day!!  The week is officially almost half over!  And so is January.  Can you even believe it?!?  That means…only 11 1/2 months until Christmas!

Now THAT’S a scary thought, huh?!?

I mentioned the other day that my friend needed a sympathy card and that I’d made two for her to choose from.  The first was my butterfly card from Monday.  Today I’ve got the second one – this one comes from the new and lovely Golden Afternoon stamp set, to which I added some Neutrals DSP and a little Subtle Embossing.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from the sketch over at the TGIF Challenges this week.

I started by embossing the front and inside of a Soft Suede card base in the Subtle Dynamic TIEF.  Then I set it aside for later.

I cut a piece of Crumb Cake card stock with a new Stitched Rectangle Framelit.  Then I stamped the large tree image from Golden Afternoon in Soft Suede ink on the left side of the panel.  I surrounded it with little grass images – also from Golden Afternoon.

I cut a piece of Mossy Meadow paper from the Neutrals DSP with the same size Stitched Rectangle Framelit and used some Liquid Glue to adhere the two panels together,

I wrapped some Linen Thread around the two panels, securing it in the back with a couple of Glue Dots.

I stamped the smaller tree from Golden Afternoon in Soft Suede on another piece of Crumb Cake and cut it with a Stitched Shapes circle die.  Then I adhered it with Liquid Glue.

For the sentiment, I stamped it in Versamark on a piece of Mossy Meadow card stock that I’d cut with a small Stitched Rectangle Framelit, sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it with my Heat Tool.  I popped it over the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a little bow with Linen Thread and adhered it, a Corrugated Element (annual catalog) and a Butterfly Element (2019 Sale-A-Brations freebie) to the sentiment with Glue Dots and the card front was done.

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from Golden Afternoon in Mossy Meadow to a piece of Crumb Cake card stock, then stamped the small tree image in stamped-off-once Soft Suede over the top.  I cut the image out with a Stitched Rectangle and also cut another piece of Mossy Meadow Neutrals DSP.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panels together on an angle like I’d done on the front, and then into my previously embossed Soft Suede card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got the small tree in Soft Suede on the front…

…and more of the Neutrals DSP in Mossy Meadow on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Isn’t this Golden Afternoon a beautiful set?  I love those gorgeous trees – and it’s got sentiments for many different occasions.  I know you’re going to love it as much as I do!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

I showed Finn the picture of the cows that I posted yesterday…and mentioned the request for assistance.

He was…shall we say…less than interested.

  1. Such a beautiful card! Love the neutral colors and your embellishments are perfect! As for Finn…what kind of a herding dog is he?? Looks like you need to get him up to speed on his responsibilities as an Aussie. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

He’s a SHEPherd-er. As in Sheep (minus an “E)”. So…cows are for…well – anyone but him, okay?!? Sheesh. Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  2. Kate

Oh, this is a wonderful card. Beautiful!
C’mon, Mom…those critters have always gotten home together before, right? I’m rest in’ up for a real challenge!!!

    • stampsnlingers

Exactly! Cows go everywhere together anyway – what the big deal?!? Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  3. Charlotte Hutcheson

I really enjoyed your card this morning…I love Soft Suede on kraft, and the touch of Mossy Green is the perfect touch. I prefer my sympathy cards to be simple and understated…which this one is. Thank you for the daily emails…you are one of my favorite demonstrators!

    • stampsnlingers

Thank YOU, Charlotte – that’s a very nice thing to say, for sure! I surely do appreciate it! 🙂

  4. tamihewlett

Great idea to use all those lovely neutral colors with the wood embellishment. I just adore the overall rustic look of your card. ❤❤❤

  5. Maryanne Willequer

Git along, little doggie! Hah! The card is lovely, Mary.

    • stampsnlingers

He’d be more like – Come Along, lil doggie! Follow me! He’s a little confused by the whole herding thing! Thanks so much, Maryanne! 🙂

  6. As usual, GORGEOUS! In an understated, classy way. Love it. As for Finn….I had to laugh out loud!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Julie! Happy to give you a chuckle, my friend! 🙂

  7. Susan K

I love the sympathy card. How serene–it’d be sure to bring comfort. I like that stamp set.
Finn is too young to brush off herding. Maybe he’s just resting beforehand to have more energy for the work! 😁

    • stampsnlingers

I think he just thinks it’s sort of a waste of his time. Not nearly as interesting as…say, a good game of tug. Or keep away! Thanks so much, Susan – it’s a beautiful stamp set!
