Stampin’ Up! Butterfly Beauty Abounds for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hey y’all – it’s Thursday, so it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  Today’s a sketch challenge and I know you’ll see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop.

I pulled out a wonderful new bundle in the 2019 Occasions Catalog, called Beauty Abounds – and boy does it!!  I paired it with some Gingham Gala 6″ x 6″ DSP to make a bright and cheerful card!  Take a look-see:

I didn’t stray very far from the sketch!

I started with a piece of Daffodil Delight paper from the new Gingham Gala DSP (coming on 3 Jan 19!) and added some additional lines with my Granny Apple Green Dark Stampin’ Blend – to turn gingham into plaid!  I did this on two panels of the DSP and then cut them to the same size as the front of a Thick Whisper White card base.  With Liquid Glue, I adhered one piece to the front and the second piece on the inside (which you’ll in a sec).

For the art, I first used a few images from the new Beauty Abounds stamps set and added a few here and there on a Whisper White panel – “splotches” in Daffodil Delight, “flourishes” in Granny Apple Green, and the splatter image in Pacific Point (this one I stamped off once on scrap paper, then stamped randomly on the panel twice without re-inking).  I matted the panel on a piece of Granny Apple Green with Liquid Glue.

I cut one of the large flourishes in the Butterfly Beauty Thinlits from a piece of Sparkle Glimmer Paper and one from Vellum card stock and adhered them with Liquid Glue.  Then I added a length of Granny Apple Green 1/2″ Textured Weave Ribbon with a couple of Glue Dots.

I used both large butterfly die cuts and cut them from Pacific Point card stock.  Then I snipped a few butterflies with my Paper Snips.  I also cut a couple of small individual butterflies from Daffodil Delight.

I stamped the sentiment from Beauty Abounds in Granny Apple Green on a piece of Whisper White and cut it with an oval Stitched Shapes Framelits die.  I added some Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back and then used them to wind some Silver Metallic Thread loops – then I popped it all onto the card front.

I adhered all my butterflies here and there with Liquid Glue, then added a few Daffodil Delight Gingham Gala Adhesive-Backed Sequins (3 Jan 19) and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added some more Daffodil Delight and stamped-off-once Pacific Point splatters to the middle of a Whisper White panel.  Over top I added a second Beauty Abounds sentiment in Granny Apple Green and a full-strength Pacific Point butterfly.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Granny Apple Green mat and into my card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more splotches, splatters and butterflies on the front…

…and some more of my Gingham-turned-plaid DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love love LOVE this set, y’all!  Those dies in the Butterfly Beauty Thinlits are simply gorgeous!  And perfectly complement the images and beautiful sentiments in the bundled Beauty Abounds stamp set!  I hope you like LOVE!!  And are chomping at the bit to get this bundle for yourself come 3 Jan!!

  1. Oh my goodness Mary, that is stunning! I love the colors and your background is just perfect! Beautifully designed! 🙂

  2. This card should be in the catalog! It’s beautiful beyond words. Your creativity was over the top. I love what you did with the gingham paper. I think I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again…this is my most favorite that you’ve made!

Thanks so much, Karen! As always – I appreciate you! 🙂

  3. Gorgeous Mary😊. Absolutely love everything about it inside and outside and of course the envelope too.

    Like this…in every way!

  5. Lisa A Crosby

I absolutely LOVE this card!! Love the colors, the butterflies, everything! Thank you for sharing this. After I got home from Onstage the first item on my list was the framelits for this set. Haven’t actually had a single minute to play with it though. Must make time soon. Thanks again!

  6. I agree with you about this set. Just ordered mine and can’t wait to use it. You did a fantastic job with the sketch, that is, not straying TOO far from it. I never know how far I can go, so don’t usually stretch myself much. You, however, did a glorious job with these butterflies and all the splotches, flourishes and splats! And, that plaid! Another winner, if you had entered it in any challenges. Great color scheme.

Thanks – and that background is all stamped – no spritzing! Whoo-hoo!! 🙂

Bright and cheerful! I love the way you turned the gingham into plaid!
