Stampin’ Up! Festive No-Coloring Pleasant Pheasants!

Good Monday, y’all.

I’ll just go ahead and apologize for the early oxy-moron, okay?

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live Video, I appreciate you giving me a part of your weekend!  If not, but would like to take a gander at the video via the sorta-but-not-really instant replay, here ’tis!

I love the Pleasant Pheasant set, but…the prospect of coloring the large pheasant image always sort of made me pause, so…when I saw another technique, I was intrigued – and tried it right away.  I put my not-colored image on some Festive Farmhouse DSP and framed it with a Wood Textures frame.  Take a look-see:

The layout is from the current Sunday Stamps sketch challenge – although I flipped it on it’s side.

And seeing as how Thanksgiving is definitely a Holiday – I played along with the Watercolor Wednesday Challenge!

I started by matting a piece of Festive Farmhouse on Mossy Meadow card stock for the card front – then I added a different design – also matted on Mossy Meadow – over the top with Liquid Glue.

The art piece, from the Pleasant Pheasant stamp set, is a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock.  I used my Stamparatus to stamp the image in Versamark Ink, then I sprinkled it with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool.

Then the magic started!  Linda Heller – a very talented SU! demonstrator – did a card using this bleaching technique and the Pleasant Pheasants stamp set.  You can check hers out right here!

I used an old Blender Pen and dipped the tip in a teensy amount of Bleach and “colored” the Pheasants!  Wherever the tip touches – the bleach lightens it right up!  I painted – let it dry to see what I had – painted – let it dry…etc.  Until I was happy with the “shading”!

I used my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker to add faux stitches.

With the berry die (one of my very favorite dies EVER!) from the Frosted Bouquet Framelits, I cut two branches from Copper Foil.  I adhered one with Liquid Glue, then popped my art over the top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I angled a frame cut from Wood Textures DSP over the pheasants, adhering it with Liquid Glue (and a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional under the bottom right corner).

My sentiment, from Pleasant Pheasants, is heat embossed in White on a bannerized strip of Wood Textures DSP and adhered with Liquid Glue.  Another Frosted Bouquet Berry, a Galvanized Button and a double-length bow from Very Vanilla Solid Baker’s Twine finished off the card front.

On the inside, I added a stamped-off-once Crumb Cake Pleasant Pheasant on a Very Vanilla panel, then stamped a second sentiment over top in Mossy Meadow.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Mossy Meadow mat and into my Very Vanilla card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

I added the Pleasant Pheasants image in full-strength Crumb Cake to the front of my Very Vanilla Medium Envelope…

…and gave the envelope flap a little more Festive Farmhouse DSP plaid.

Et Voila!  No-color colored Pleasant Pheasants!  Try this technique on Cajun Craze – or Mossy Meadow – or Crushed Curry!  Just be sure to use card stock that’s colored all the way thru (hint: I TOTALLY mean you should use Stampin’ Up! card stock!!)!  Have fun with it.  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

It’s that time of the year when the Man prefers to stay outside in the morning between our feeding the horses and our walk and when I go back to let them out.  That’s about an hour (or an hour and half when I’m being lazy!).

He typically hangs out on the golf cart – lording it over the other lesser beings (squirrels and chipmunks mostly).

Yesterday, I headed out to finish off the chores in the barn and, as I passed the cart, asked him if he thought he might join me.

This was his response.

Uhm…nope.  I’m good.

I was half way to the barn when he realized the error of his decision.

Only the dogs who go to the barn with the mom have a shot at a peppermint! 😉
