Stampin’ Up! Festive Winter Woods and Leaves

Good morning from Atlanta, y’all!  Had an uneventful flight home yesterday – but…I do not EVER EVER want to hear about how awful the Atlanta airport is.

E. VER.

DIA was….horrendous.  Gas Pump at airport wouldn’t take my credit card (they’d like a Debit card, thank you!) – had to stand in line with the people needing cokes and lotto tickets.  Thirty minutes.  Rental place drops everyone off on one side of the terminal.  Hike thru to the non-United side to get to Delta.  Delta figured that TWO people checking the non-First-Class folks in would be plenty.  Uhm…not so much.  So…twenty minutes there.  Thirty minutes in the security line.  Decipher the train plan.

Yea.  I don’t know why anyone flies anymore.  I really do not.  Except for the whole…get across the country in three hours instead of twenty four.  But…OTHER than that…why!!?

But – that’s yesterday’s news – I made it home in spite of all that falderall.

And – I have a fun card to share with you today! 🙂

It’s got a little Festive Farmhouse plaid, some Winter Woods bare trees and sentiment….and a little Detailed Leaves die cuts.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week.

And I made this masculine enough (IMHO) to send to a man for Christmas.  So – it fits with this week’s Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.

I started by matting a piece of plaid paper from the Festive Farmhouse DSP to a Basic Black panel for the card front.

I cut a piece of Copper Joyous Noel 6″ x 6″ Glimmer Paper with the detailed leaf in the Detailed Leaves Thinlits and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

The next leaf is sort of a multi-step endeavor.  First I stamped the bare trees image from the Winter Woods set in Crumb Cake on a piece of Very Vanilla. I cut it with the solid-leaf from the Detailed Leaves Thinlits, then I added faux stitches around the edge with my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker.  Finally, I embossed it in the Corrugated Dynamic TIEF.

Then I popped it all onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Except the stem – the stem couldn’t take the stress of the embossing and it sort of gave up the ghost and came apart from the leaf.  So I stuck it down with a little Liquid Glue.

I stamped the Winter Woods sentiment in Mossy Meadow on a Very Vanilla strip and snipped banners in both ends.  I edged it with the Cherry Cobbler Marker and added it with Liquid Glue (on the right end) and a Stampin’ Dimensional on the left end.

Finally, I added a Galvanized Button and a Festive Farmhouse Cotton Twine bow – in Mossy Meadow – with a couple of Glue Dots.  And that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I inked the bare trees with Crumb Cake and stamped them off once on scrap paper before adding them to my Very Vanilla panel.  I added more of the Cherry Cobbler faux stitches.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Basic Black mat and into the Very Vanilla card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got the Winter Woods trees in full-strength Crumb Cake on the front…

…and more of the Festive Farmhouse DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Love those Winter Woods trees, don’t you!?  And they work perfectly on the Detailed Leaves thinlit die – especially when added to some awesome Festive Farmhouse plaid!  Hope you like!

  1. Oh man…Atlanta airport is a mess, but it’s an organized mess! Glad that you made it to your plane on time, hope that they had some “awesome” selections for you to eat since you probably didn’t have time to grab anything at the airport!

Beautiful card! Love the plaid background and the leaves. Perfectly designed!

Finn does not look happy at all to see you…;)

Fortunately I was able to grab a Quiznos to take on the plane. Seemed better than an $8 snack box… Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂

  2. Kate

Plaid plaid and more plaid. Never too much. Great card.
Can’t apologize for DIA…just not goin’ there. Very grateful that you did. Liked the other end better. Missing you!!!
Sweet pretzel Clary. And she misses you too. Oh, the Finn…he is choppin’ in the tall cotton.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Mom – I miss her little self, too! Finn is pretty happy, though! 🙂

  3. Love your card, especially the trees stamped on the leaf part. Of course, you know I’m always in love with the plaid. IA’s are usually a zoo. However, Albany, NY and Tampa, FL were wonderful. It’s much easier when you are in a wheelchair! We will probably never fly again though. Glad you are home safe and sound and that you are receiving the kisses you have missed. Clara…how do you do that??

    • stampsnlingers

That is a question for the ages. Right along with…WHY!?!? 😉 I’ve done the airport-in-the-wheelchair thing. Easier and also not. Bleh! But happy that you guys got thru easily enough on your trip! Thanks so much, Karen! 🙂

  4. Kathy L

Love your card! The trees image on the leaf…wow! Definitely going to try that. Glad you’re safely home.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Kathy – I’m glad to be safely home, too! 🙂

  5. Susan K

Ah, Finnman is so happy to have you home. Sweet. And ClaraBelle looks comfy to me–got fit into the chair!
Cute card. I love that detailed glittery leaf and the stamped and sponged one–but I couldn’t see its appended stem. 😅 Didn’t need it though to be beautiful!

    • stampsnlingers

LOL! I hid the “seam” as best I could – guess it worked! Thanks so much, Susan! 🙂

  6. Oh, wow! At first glance, your card is lovely and deceptively CAS. But, then on closer inspection there are a lot of fun details. Love the Winter Woods trees on the leaf die-cut, and the faux stitching is a perfect finishing touch. Thanks for joining us at Watercooler Wednesday.

Thanks much, Gail! Appreciate you stopping by – and glad that you liked my card! 🙂
