Stampin’ Up! Copper Country Road Birthday

Good mornin’, y’all!  Now – it’s Tuesday and in the normal scheme of things I’d be bringing you a card for the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge.  But – this week, the challenge is Shaker Cards.

I brought nothing – as in nada, zero, zilch – to make a shaker card.  Not a bauble or bead – no Window Sheets – no Foam Adhesive strips.  Nuthin’.

So – I bowed out – but that doesn’t mean you couldn’t go play if you want!  I’ll give you the challenge badge and a link down below!  Have fun playing.

What I did make for today is a card squarely back in my wheelhouse – and it even had a weathervane (guess the stamp set?)!  I love weathervanes – we actually have 4 or 5 of them – all horse-themed.

And none actually on a roof.

These things take time! One day… 😉

The stamp set I’m talking about is, of course, the lovely new Country Road set – which was another one of those “I MUST have that right away” sets for me!  And look what happened when I vintage-i-fied it a little and added it to some Wood Textures DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was loosely inspired by the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch this week.

I started with a piece of my favorite Wood Textures DSP and heat embossed some Country Road grasses.  I inked the image in Versamark and stamped the panel – did this twice – then sprinkled the stamped images with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated them with my Heat Tool.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Cherry Cobbler mat.

I started the collage by heat embossing the weathervane and the star images.  I did the weathervane on Very Vanilla and the star on Cherry Cobbler.  For both of them, I sprinkled them lightly with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then added some new Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  When I heated it up, it created a weathered appearance that made me very happy! 🙂

I fussy cut the two images and then used a wedge of Stampin’ Sponge to added some Soft Suede and distressed both pieces.  On another piece of Very Vanilla, I stamped the wooden wheel image in Soft Suede, fussy cut it and sponged it lightly.

I added the wheel to the card front with Liquid Glue, then added some Dimensionals to the back of the weathervane horse.  I used them to wind some loops of Linen and Copper Metallic Threads around, then added it to the card front.

I stamped the Country Road sentiment in Versamark on a strip of Very Vanilla, sprinkled it with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  I snipped a banner end in it and distressed it pretty heavily with Soft Suede ink.  Then I  popped it over the rest of the collage with some Dimensionals on the ends.

I made a double-loop Billie Moan bow with Linen and Copper Metallic Thread and added it to the end of the sentiment with a Glue Dot.  I lightly curled the star with my fingers and added it with a couple of Dimensionals.

To finish off, I added a few black Faceted Dots and that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I stamped the Country Road grasses a few times in Versamark ink in the corner of a Very Vanilla panel.  When the ink had dried – it leaves a faint, but visible-even-to-the-nekkid-eye watermarked image!.  Over top, I stamped the weathervane in Soft Suede.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Cherry Cobbler mat and then into my Soft Suede card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done! 🙂

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more Versamark’d Country Road grasses and a weathervane horse in Soft Suede on the front…

…and a little more Wood Textures DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  LOVE Wood Textures!  LOVE Country Road!  When you put them together and added a little sponging and weathered embossing – perfection!  Hope you like! 🙂
