Happy happy HAWWWMP day!! Hope your week is going good – and that you’re ready to slide on down to the weekend! I know I am!
On yesterday’s blog hop, my friend Sue Prather made a gorgeous card that I fell in love with as soon as it loaded on my computer! You can check it out right here.
I decided I was going to CASE it – cuz I needed a card just like it! So I got started – and then…well, sort of deviated. I ended up using the Waterfront stamp set and Wood Textures DSP – just like Sue – but I added some sentiments from the new Host-Exclusive Very Vintage stamp set. And made it more feminine – it’s going to an 80 year old woman who lives in Colorado! Take a look-see:
The layout for this one comes from this week’s Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge.
I started with some of my favorite paper in the Wood Textures DSP (thankfully carrying over!) and stamped the wondermous trees image from the Waterfront stamp set in new Shaded Spruce ink (avail 1 June). Then I matted it on Shaded Spruce card stock with Liquid Glue.
The next layer is also from Wood Textures, bannerized in my Triple Banner Punch and adhere with Liquid Glue. Then I wrapped a length of Very Vanilla 1/2″ Lace Trim around the whole thing, securing it in the back with Tear & Tape Adhesive.
I created a Shaded Space doily by sponging the back of a new Pearlized Doily (available right now in the two larger Share What You Love bundles). Then I adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.
I made the art piece on Very Vanilla card stock with the various elements in the Waterfront stamp set. I stamped the mountains image twice in Soft Suede without re-inking. The water is stamped-off-once Balmy Blue. I made some Shaded Spruce trees and added Granite Gray “ground” and Balmy Blue “sky” with Stampin’ Sponges. The birds are hand-drawn with my Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker.
I cut the image out with the largest Stitched Shapes Framelits circle die and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
My sentiment, from the new host-exclusive Very Vintage stamp set, is stamped in Shaded Spruce on Vellum card stock and then cut with a die in the new Stitched Labels Framelits. I used a couple of Glue Dots to adhere it.
The embellishment is a Linen Thread double-loop Billie Moan bow and a Very Vanilla 1/2″ Lace Trim bow – adhered with Glue Dots. Finally, I nestled a Silver Flower from the Share What You Love Embellishment Kit.
On the inside, I stamped more Soft Suede mountains (which I stamped off once before stamping the Very Vanilla panel) – I stamped them twice without re-inking. Then I added some stamped-off-once Shaded Spruce trees.
The sentiment is from the Very Vintage set, stamped in full-strength Shaded Spruce.
I matted the panel on Shaded Spruce and then into my Soft Suede card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!
My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more Waterfront mountains and trees on the front…
… and I added more Wood Textures DSP and a few Shaded Spruce trees onto the envelope flap.
Et Voila! I hope I did justice to Sue’s gorgeous card! And that this fits the bill and is what my mom was looking for. How awesome is it that the Waterfront stamp set is continuing (I LOVE that wonderful trees image!)?? And – the Very Vintage Host-exclusive set is stunningly beautiful – I know you’re going to want to have it on your stamp shelf! Hope you like!

Don’t know if you were paying attention the other day – but…when I showed you my raised beds, there was ONLY. ONE. TOMATO. PLANT.
Or TOMATOE. You decide.
Regardless – or…. IRREGARDLESS (grrrr)…ONE.
And it’s a Sweeeheart tomato – which is a totally amazing little grape-type tomato. Sweet as can be and makes hundreds of tomatoes!
But – it’s not going to make a very good ‘mater sammich!
So the other day when I was getting feed, I got us a Beefsteak at the feed store.
And a Giant Jalapeño plant.
Don’t know why – some vague thought of smoking them and making my own chipotles. No telling.
Anyway – Finn was right there helping.
A newly transplanted pepper needs juuuuusst the right amount of water. Finn’s making sure I get that exact amount.
It takes close scrutiny and strict attention to detail.
Not just any dog could do it! 🙂

Oh, what a beautiful card Mary! Love the layering and the soft details…perfect!! Finn is definitely a very helpful guy…glad that he’s supervising your planting and watering. Don’t want to mess that up! 😉
No – these are important tasks, indeed! Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂
Wow, Mary… I just saw your new photo… maybe it was taken at OnStage this year? Truly stunning!
Yep – at OnStage! Thank you so much, Patricia. It’s been a long year! But – I wore SHORTS to the Post Office and grocery today. GASP!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
I love your vintage version of Sue’s card – pinned them both👍 It’s good to see that Finn is reporting for duty in the garden! And SO GLAD he’s “back”!😅
Yep – he really is! Thanks very much, Elisha! 🙂
I need to start copying my comments before I hit the Post Comment button! Once again, WP didn’t like my comment! In any event, I said you did Sue’s card justice, your bows are fantastic and your mother’s friend will love it. For the tomatoes, we have an abundance of sweet Campari tomatoes but the skins are really tough due to the high temps we have. AND Finn is so cute, like a little child loving to drink from the garden hose.
Computers. I don’t know why they do half the things they do! 🙁 Thanks very much, Karen! Campari tomatoes – never tried them, but they sound pretty yummy! 🙂
We started our Camparis from seeds from tomatoes we bought at Publix. Do you have Publix there?
Yep! It’s my favorite place to shop! 🙂
The card is beautifully perfect! I know my friend will love it. Thank you!
Finn the water inspector…or is he the aggie supervisor. Will his talents never end?
Nope – he’s a dog of many facets who wears many hats!! Thanks, Mom – glad that you like it and that it’ll work! 🙂
Gorgeous card! I am casing Sue’s card too, for an outdoorsy woman’s birthday. Very creative to color the doily. I hadn’t thought of that. Finn looks like just the kind of help you needed to get those plants in the soil. And properly watered.
He’s a helper, for sure! Thanks so much, Julie – can’t wait to see what you create! 🙂
What a lovely card and I’m so pleased you were inspired by our Sketch over at Hand Stamped Sentiments this week – some great sneak peeks there in your card too – I love that new green colour. Thanks for joining us – Fiona DT
Isn’t that Shaded Spruce pretty!?? Thanks much, Fiona – appreciate you stopping by! 🙂
