Stampin’ Up! Lovely As A Tree Sunset Thanks

Mornin’, y’all!  Happy weekend!

I’ve made a card for you today with one of my favorite stamp sets – the Lovely As A Tree set.  I mean, really, what’s not to love about this beautiful set?  I put the trees against a sponged background, then added a sentiment from All Things Thanks.  Take a look-see:

For those of you who were watching last Sunday, you might recognize this card front?  Since I showed you how to do it on the video, I won’t go into a lot of explanation,  You can just fast forward this video (to about the 27:50 point in the video) and watch me make it!

I mentioned in the video that I’d seen a sunset here at the house that inspired the picture.  Here ’tis!

So – I started with a Very Vanilla panel and masked off the rectangle with Washi Tape.  I sponged the sunset in Peekaboo Peach, So Saffron, Pool Party and Marina Mist.  Then I carefully peeled up the Washi Tape.

I used my Stamparatus to add the Lovely As A Tree image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I did that to be sure I could stamp a couple of times if needed to get the image as dark as I wanted it.

For the sentiment, I borrowed from the All Things Thanks stamp set and used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to get it where I wanted it.  I inked up just the word Thanks with my Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Marker and added it to the card front.

With my Journaling Pen, I added little dots here and there around the sentiment.  Then I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Night of Navy mat.

I added a length of Night of Navy 3/8″ Corduroy Ribbon, securing it in the back with Fast Fuse.  This card is going to a couple – but mostly to the man, so…I made myself stop there!

On the inside, I inked the second part of the sentiment with my Night of Navy Marker and, again with my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, stamped it on a Very Vanilla panel.  I added some more Journaling Pen dots, then I inked up the trees image in Tuxedo Black again, stamped it off twice, and stamped it over the sentiment.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Night of Navy mat and into my Thick Very Vanilla card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

On the front of my Very Vanilla Medium Envelope, I added more of the trees in Tuxedo Black…

…and then I added them one last time on the back, across the edge of the flap.

Et Voila!  I don’t care how old this stamp set is – or gets!  It will always be one of my very favorite of all time.  It’s just so classic and gorgeous!  And All Things Thanks is a super good thank-you sentiment set to always have on hand!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Finn-y and I end all our days pretty much the same way.

After we finish up with the horses and take our last walk, I take a shower.

Finn gets in some pre-sleeping.

Then I get in bed and type up my blog post for the next morning.

Finn further perfects his pre-sleeping technique.

Once I’m done, I get up to put the computer on the charger and set the coffee for morning.  And rouse Finn for one last quick sortie outside.

Only the other night – he’d skipped both phases of pre-sleeping and gone directly to full-up-all-out-legs-akimbo night-sleeping.

I, heeding the adage about letting night-sleeping-dogs-lie…closed the kennel door and called it a night.

Now.  I’m pretty sure he moved in the night.  I think I remember feeling him bumping around at the end of the bed.

But – you’d for sure never know it.  This is what I found at 530 the next morning.

Apparently, this is his very favorite position!

It’s certainly his very cutest position, I’d say!

  1. You captured the sunset perfectly on your card, imho. Lovely as a Tree never gets old and I do believe I see them budding. Finn has quite the personality, as does his Mom!

  2. Such a beautiful card Mary! Love the soft sunset that you created, it matches your picture perfectly! Sweet picture of Finn too! Looking forward to seeing him tomorrow! 🙂

  3. Paula Poindexter

Dang it Mary! You and Ginny are dangerously making me want another dog. Adorable!

Lovely as a tree is a classic for sure.
    And your lighting is fabulous!
    See you Sunday.

  4. Elisha

This is so beautiful! I remember that sunset photo and am glad you used it as inspiration👍 The Peek-a-boo Peach is a perfect sunset color – must try! Finn certainly takes his sleeping seriously😂

  5. Sherry

    Absolutely gorgeous!!

  6. Sherry

Oh and so love Finn’s sleeping position! He’s a cutie!

  7. Ellie Peckler

Mary, I loved your card so much that I showed it to my husband. He asked me why I don’t “paint” my cards, so I punched him in the snout. 🙂 It is such a pleasure to read your blog every day. And Finn is a hoot! – Ellie

    • LOL – I’m glad I’d already swallowed my coffee or I’d have snorted it out all over the keyboard! “So I punched him in the snout”! Priceless, Ellie!! 🙂 Hand him some sponges and ink pads and tell him to get after it! Thanks so much for the nice words and the chuckle this morning! 🙂

  8. Kate

    Very nice.
Finnster resting up for that bath you threatened. He will be glad of it AFTER all the lovin’ tomorrow.

    • I’m having second thoughts. Seems dumb to go do the bath thing when it’s going to rain…the ladies may just have to deal with a little bit of eau du dawg instead of eau du parfuuume…. Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  9. Kathy L

Serenity…both card and dog! Love ’em both.

  10. Lovely card, Mary. Your sunset is spot on with the photo. Can’t beat Lovely as a Tree. My fav!
I don’t see how sleeping like Finn does could be comfortable, much less restful!

    • LOL – I don’t know either – but it seems to work for him! I find him like that all the time!! Thanks so much, Julie! 🙂
