Stampin’ Up! Large Letters and Springtime Daisies Hello!

Happy weekend, my peeps!  Hope you’ve got something fun planned??

My card today is one that uses a few different tools from my arsenal!  I’d been playing with a design in my head for a minute and decided it was time to try to implement it.  I used the Large Letters Framelits and some Daisy Punch flowers.  Along with a little Springtime Foils and Sweet Soiree Specialty DSPs.  Take a look-see:

The inspiration for the card came from the Floral Statements stamp set in the Annual Catalog!

I loosely used the layout from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches to give me a point in the right direction.

The color scheme is from the Fab Friday color challenge.

And I also played along with the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge.  I went on the diagonal (floral – Silver – Sequins)!

I started with a piece of silver-y paper from the Sweet Soiree Specialty DSP and matted it on Soft Suede for the card front.

I cut a panel of Very Vanilla and embossed it in the Petal Burst TIEF.  I adhered a Silver Metallic Foil Doily on the end – letting a little of it stick out the right side – with Liquid Glue.  Then I adhered the whole thing to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I cut the letters from Pool Party card stock with the Large Letters Framelits.

For the daisies, I first sponged some paper from the FREE Springtime Foils Specialty DSP with Rich Razzleberry and then I punched out 4 flowers with the Daisy Punch.  I also punched two more flowers from Vellum card stock.  I stacked two colored flowers and a vellum flower – adhering them with Liquid Glue.  I covered my little dab of glue with a light Berry Burst Glitter Enamel Dot.  I also punched several Vellum leaves with the Leaf Punch.

I used Liquid Glue to start adhering the letters into the flowers and then to the card front.  I also used some Liquid Glue to stick the Vellum leaves here and there amongst the flowers and letters.

For the banner – I cut a strip of Very Vanilla and one of Soft Suede.  I stamped a sentiment from the Fruit Basket stamp set in Rich Razzleberry and adhered the two strips together with Liquid Glue.  Then I popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I finished by sticking some silver Metallic Sequins around the card front and it was done!

On the inside, I added a sentiment from the All Things Thanks stamp set in Rich Razzleberry, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.  Then I added some stems and flowers from the Daisy Delight stamp set in Old Olive and Pool Party.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Soft Suede mat and into my Thick Very Vanilla card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another Daisy Delight flower on the front…

…and some more of the Sweet Soiree Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love how the flowers and leaves intertwine amongst the sentiment letters, don’t you?  And the Springtime Foils DSP makes for lovely Daisy Punch flowers.  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

We’ve had some feathered visitors the past few weeks – and it’s fun to watch them.  We’ve got two ponds – one right near the house and one in the corner of the back pasture.

Apparently it was “Couples Swim” today in both venues!

The Canadians were in the back – haven’t seen them back there in a while!

And the ducks…mallard?  Wood?  Not really sure!…were in the front pond.  Doing a lovely pairs routine – to include synchronized head bobs!

Finn wanted – desperately!! – to go see the geese.  I know that he was sure he could get them to come over to him.  Or he could have swum out to them.  Or….something!  Fortunately, he had a good hold of his collar so he wouldn’t do something rash!

SOMEbody had to hold onto the beast!

  1. There’s a lot going on with this card…and I like it! As soon as I saw it, I knew the color challenge. I think it’s great how the Springtime Foils can be inked up so nicely. Finn is a good boy and I’m glad to see he has some restraint 🙂

  2. Kate

    Entwined surely worked. Very nice.
Self control is easier when you have a collar to hold. I guess. Lovely pond critters. Wonder if they will stay or are just passing through.

  3. Very pretty Mary! Love the spring flowers. Cute picture of Finn…can’t believe that you wouldn’t let him go meet the geese! 😉

  4. Kathy L

Yes, I really like how the letters and daisies intertwine, a very pretty effect. Thanks for a reminder to pull those big dies out.
I’m surprised Finn was able to restrain himself. Both ponds with visitors? What a treat!kf

  5. Susan K

Love the way the flowers and letters intertwine…good imitation of the floral statements set! I’m impressed with how you combined the challenges. And impressed with the Big Man’s restraint!

  6. Paula

Your card is lovely as usual Mary.
Finn is adorable as always. I’m loving his attachment to his collar strap.
Now I mostly need to thank you for the photos of the Canadian Geese. It seems I have only seen male geese in all my 67 years of life. You have a Male and a Dark Female. She I have never seen before. Or is it the other way around. Doesn’t really matter. I have never ever seen a dark Canadian Goose before. Never to old to learn something new!
Hope your weekend is going well.

    • Thanks, Paula! Yes – his love of “holding himself” causes us never-ending amusement. Never seen anything like it! And – you’re welcome. I know it wasn’t a picture of Finn, or a card, but…I love when we have “visitors” – even “common” ones like the Canadians. So, I’m glad you were happy to see them! Have a great day! 🙂

  7. Heather Heroldt

So fun! I love how the letters are dancing across the card front, lol, and how intertwined all the elements are – beautiful take on our colors! I totally have to use my letter dies more – you’ve inspired me! Thanks for playing at Fab Friday!

  8. I really like all the different layers; so much to enjoy! The layered daisy punch with the vellum is a neat idea as well! Great job with our challenge colors! Thanks for sharing at Fab Friday!
