Stampin’ Up! Heartfelt Blooms and Baskets

Mornin’, y’all – we made it to Friday again!  Whoo-hoo!!

My card today will go to a friend and her husband who are going thru a rough patch – and I couldn’t think of anything better than Heartfelt Blooms and the Here For You stamp sets!  Plus some textures from the Basket Weave Dynamic TIEF.  Take a look-see:

I borrowed the sketch from this week’s My Favorite Things sketch.

And the color scheme is from the Color Throwdown.

I started with a Crumb Cake panel, on which I stamped the beautiful Heartfelt Blooms image (free during Sale-A-Bration with a $50 purchase!) all over it in Crumb Cake ink.  Then I embossed it in the Basket Weave Dynamic TIEF (also free during Sale-A-Bration with a $100 purchase!) and double matted it on Powder Pink and Crumb Cake.

I wrapped a length of Smoky Slate 1/2″ Gingham Ribbon around the panel, securing it in the back with Fast Fuse.

For the art panel, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp the sentiment from Here For You in Crumb Cake ink.  Then I added the Heartfelt Blooms image – also in Crumb Cake.  I lightly colored the flower image with my Blender Pen – picking up Powder Pink ink from the lid of the pad.

I used my Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker to add some faux stitches, then double matted it on Powder Pink and Crumb Cake.  Did you notice that I embossed this mat in the Basket Weave Dynamic TIEF?  Just thought it would be cool!

I popped the matted art panel on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a Billie Moan bow from Linen Thread and a small bow from the Smoky Slate 1/2″ Gingham Ribbon and adhered them both with Glue Dots.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add a second sentiment from the Here for You stamp set in Crumb Cake on a Very Vanilla panel.  Then I added faux stitches with my Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a double mat of Powder Pink and Crumb Cake, then into my Smoky Slate card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another Crumb Cake Heartfelt Blooms image on the front – lightly colored with Powder Pink…

…and I embossed the envelope flap in the Basket Weave Dynamic TIEF.

Et Voila!  I love the touches of Powder Pink to brighten the sepia-tones of the beautiful Crumb Cake Heartfelt Blooms image, don’t you?  And the Here For You stamp set, filled with perfect sentiments, works great in this card – and is a perfect tool to have in your arsenal!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Today – I have a mycology lesson for you. (Go ahead – Google it.  It’s a real thing.)

I present Port-a-ballus Rubberus.  See it in its natural habitat.

Do.  Not.  Eat.  This.  Mushroom!!  This is purely decorative and useful for tossing about.  It bounces wildly, due to the Rubberus protuberance you can clearly see in the picture.

In this next picture, Finn shows you how to find and return a Port-a-Ballus Rubberus.  It’s not easy.  It’s sometimes necessary to leap wildly about to capture them.

Showing perfect form, Finn deposits his find at the feet of his mistress – ready to do it all again!

After a cookie, of course!

  1. Oh, my gosh, you and Finn totally make me want to go to the store and buy Depends 🙂 I, myself, would have named the study “mushology” but in any event, there are some pretty neat fungi out there! I love the name you gave the yellow one. Your card is downright stunning. I’m so glad I ordered the basket weave folder…it’s on it’s way! The colors you used are lovely together and your stitching, to me, is perfectamundo! Mark my words…”This is a winner!”

    • I SO wish I’d come up with the name for the ball – but it came that way! 🙁 Anywho – glad that you got a chuckle from it!! And thanks for the kind words about my card, Karen! 🙂

  2. What a beautiful card Mary! Love the layers and the colors, great design! Cute picture of Finn with his slobbery toy. 🙂

    • Oh – and it IS slobbery. And covered with little bits of twig and leaves and…who knows what!! 🙂 Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂

  3. I actually knew mycology! When I was at the newspaper I would often photograph various wild fungi about which I knew NOTHING (except for Morels) so contacted a mycology expert for information. Actually he is a professor of such at a nearby university. So there. Por-a-Ballus Rubberous? How does your mind work anyway??? 🙂
Love your card. I’m doing one today for that challenge, but it won’t be this lovely.

    • Oh – I bet it will! Actually – I only added “Rubberus” to the name of the ball. It came named Part-a-Ballus – which I think is seriously clever! I would never have suspected there would be a Professor of Mycology… 🙂

  4. Elisha

Such a beautiful card – your layering is wonderful! And that Finn – he is such a “fun guy”! Have a GREAT weekend, Mary!!

    • He is a fun kid to have around! If he’s not making me chuckle, he’s making my heart melt with his sweetness!! Thanks, Elisha – enjoy the weekend! 🙂

  5. Kate

Beautiful card for a rough patch.
So-so morning here…NEITHER Keurig will work. Hope not a portent for the whole day. 😠
    Finn the friendly fungus fetcher.

  6. Kate

    ME TOO!!!

  7. Stella Boatman

Oh my, that is a yummy looking card and envelope. So pretty.

  8. Beautiful cards, Mary! Thanks for the inspiration. Give Finn an extra cookie from me. 😊🐾

  9. Wanda Cullen

Absolutely gorgeous! Really love the textured basket weave background! Thanks for joining us at Color Throwdown!

  10. Susan K

Taking a minute to catch up on posts and had to say I love this card and the FFF. Soothing colors made even prettier with all the layering. Good thing you live outside of town–I hear there isn’t as much port-a-ballus in populated areas. 🐶
