Stampin’ Up! A Mother’s Flair in Springtime

Happy Saturday, my peeps!  Hope your weekend has started off well!  Mine started yesterday when I put my work phone on the charger – where it’ll stay until Tuesday morning.  Whoo-hooo for three day weekends!

My card today is for Mother’s Day.  Probably not for my mom – cuz…surprise…blown!  But – you guys could make this for your moms.  It uses the pretty stamp set from the 2018 Occasions catalog called A Mother’s Flair.  And – cuz I’m obsessed! – a little of the Springtime Foils Specialty DSP.  Take a look-see:

I borrowed the layout from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week:

And it turned out to work perfectly with the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.

I started with a piece of the Springtime Foils Specialty DSP and Fast Fuse’d it to a Basic Black panel for the card front.

I pulled out a little card from the Petal Passions Memories & More Card Pack and cut a strip.  Then I colored all the flowers with my Elegant Eggplant Stampin’ Write Marker and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

For my art work, I colored the hat with my Real Red and Elegant Eggplant Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped it on the back of a scrap piece of the Springtime Foils DSP.  Then I cut it out with a Sweet & Sassy Framelit heart die.  I edged it with my Elegant Eggplant Marker and popped it on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I used a little more of the Springtime Foils (the back) to stamp the A Mother’s Flair sentiment in Real Red.  I edged that also with the Elegant Eggplant Marker and adhered it with a little Liquid Glue and a couple of Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals under the ends.

I added a little Elegant Eggplant heart Enamel Shape and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added just the flourish from the hat in Elegant Eggplant on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  Across the bottom, I added another strip of the Petal Passion Memories & More Card Pack – colored with Elegant Eggplant – matted on Basic Black.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Basic Black mat and into my Real Red card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a second A Mother’s Flair hat on the front…

…and more of the Springtime Foils Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Mother’s Day is coming, y’all – be sure you’re ready!  A Mother’s Flair has a little something for everyone – from fashionistas to Red Hatters!  And you’ll never go wrong with Springtime Foils Specialty DSP!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Finn Fan Fix

So – on Friday, I did a lot of walking.

Not cuz I’m a fitness freak – far FAR from it! – but because I was a little bad in the food arena.  Not a lot – but…some.  So – I tried to counter that.

Finn-y, as my personal fitness coach, accompanied me on each walk.

Of course!

Unlike me, though, he sort of is a fitness freak.

And – he knows that it’s important to keep your blood-sugar at a stable level.

Which means it’s usually good to bring your marrow bone along with you on a walk.

It’s not really easy to chew a bone while you’re on a walk – in case you hadn’t realized that.

For those of you wanting to go on a walk with your own marrow bone, here’s how to do it.

You run about 40 feet ahead of your mom.

You quickly lay down and chew on the bone like crazy.

Mom walks by and you let her get about 40 feet down the road.

Then you repeat the process!

It’s kind of a Chew-Bone Relay.

You’re welcome for the tip – feel free to use it on your next walk! 😉

  2. Susan K

Love the flair and coloring. I tried edging like that and mine sure wasn’t even like yours!
Thanks for the walking tip…not sure how well that’d work with a cat– but Finn seems to enjoy it.

    • Ha ha ha!! If you can get your cat to do that – please please please take a picture!!! For the edging – be sure the brush tip is straight up and down against the edge of the paper! Thanks so much, Susan! 🙂

  3. Yes, I like! and I also like Chew Finny. Enjoy your weekend to the max.

  4. Such a pretty card Mary! The colors are just perfect, looks like one of those red hat lady cards. 🙂 Finn is too funny, love his version of walking…everyone needs to stop for a chewy break now and then! 😉

    • LOL – I wish I could stop and have a little snack along the way! And it IS a Red Hat Lady’s card! 🙂 And – I used the Elegant Eggplant in YOUR honor! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

Your Mom would love it, but loves surprises too!
Wish I could employ the activity offset…sans marrow bone. 😁

  6. Great Mother’s Day card. Good incentive for the rest of us to get busy and get our cards ready. Love those foils and the stamping. Beautiful inside and out. Thanks so much for joining us for the Watercooler Wednesday “All About Occasions” challenge this week. Day card. Loving those foils too and I really like the design of your card, inside and out.

  7. ohhh hahaha at Finn seriously lol My Jasper loves his Marrow bone that much. We bought 2 one for Daisy and one for Jasper.l Jasper wants them all for himself.. Its commical to watch him when Daisy has hers. Barking in a high pitch whiny bark that he NEVER does and making a whiny growl sound… Pitiful really lol … Finn perfected the walk with the marrow bone!!! =) fun fun fun! =)

  8. Hi Mary, what a great Mother’s Day card. I had overlooked that stamp set in the Occasions catalogue but it really does have a lot of flair, doesn’t it? Love the way you’ve used those colours and foils. Continuing the theme to the inside of the card really finishes it off beautifully. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.
