Stampin’ Up! Bird Banter Belated Birthday

Mornin’, y’all!  Monday arriveth again.  I saw on the news the other day that this is the least productive day of the year – many employers give their folks the day after Super bowl off – cuz they ain’t gonna do much anyway! Makes perfect sense to me.  These days, I’ll take any excuse to have a 4-day week!  There were some good commercials, didn’t you think?  We enjoyed watching Eli Manning do the Dirty Dancing scene with you Beckham, Jr – and the Alexa-lost-her-voice commercial was one of our favorites!  And the game was darned good, too – I enjoy watching when it’s not a rout.  Two outstanding teams this year!!

So, my card today uses the Bird Banter stamp set – one that I haven’t played with before.  And I used it, with the addition of some Sale-A-Bration Bubbles & Fizz DSP, to create a cute little belated birthday card.  Take a look-see:

My layout is from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week.

And several elements are from the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge.  I went across the top (Calypso Coral is red-ish!) or down the left side.  Your choice!

I started with a piece of Calypso Coral paper from the Sale-A-Bration Bubbles & Fizz DSP (free with a $50 purchase!) and matted it on a piece of Lemon Lime Twist.

For the art/sentiment panel, I stamped the branch image from Bird Banter in Early Espresso twice on a Whisper White panel.  I also added a couple of the little leaves images.  Don’t know if you can see it, but I stamped each of those extra leaves twice without re-inking, offsetting the second image just a smidge.  I colored all the leaves with my Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Write Marker.  On the top branch, also in Early Espresso, I stamped the small bird and colored him with my Light and Dark Daffodil Delight and the Light Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends.

I stamped the larger bird on a second piece of Thick Whisper White card stock in Early Espresso and fussy cut him.  Then I colored him with my Stampin’ Blends in Light/Dark Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral and Bermuda Bay.

I stamped the balloon string image in Calypso Coral – letting the balloon itself go off the top of the panel.  I added the Bird Banter sentiment in Bermuda Bay and some little flowers in Calypso Coral.  Then I matted it on Lemon Lime Twist and Fast Fuse’d it to the card front.  On a little piece of Vellum card stock, I stamped the balloon in Calypso Coral and, when it was very dry, fussy cut it.

I popped the large bird on with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then I added a Bermuda Bay heart Enamel Shape to the Vellum balloon and popped the balloon onto the card front with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional.

Did you know that you can color the Whisper White 1/4″ Organza Ribbon with your Stampin’ Blends?  Well – you can! I colored a piece of my Light Calypso Coral Blend, tied it in a knot and adhered it to the balloon with a Glue Dot.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I stamped a second Bird Banter sentiment in Bermuda Bay on a Thick Whisper White panel.  Under that is another sentiment – in Lemon Lime Twist.  Then I stamped three of the little flowers in Calypso Coral.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Lemon Lime Twist panel and into my Thick Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got some Bird Banter flowers and hearts on the front in Calypso Coral and Bermuda Bay…

… and I added some more of the Bubbles & Fizz DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Now – we all try to get birthday cards to folks on time.  But – sometimes we don’t, right?  And this little set is so perfect for those occasions – this sentiment pair really kind of cracks me up!  And the Bird Banter birds are so cute and fun to color.  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Finn wasn’t overly impressed with the game last night.  I mean – dog.  The Animal Planet will have the Puppy Bowl in a few weeks- he might have an interest in that.  But giant men running around with a little ball and slamming into each other?

Dumb, mom.

I asked him who he was rooting for…

I think it was pretty obvious, don’t you?

  1. What a cute card! Love the colors and the little balloon is so sweet! Finn does seem pretty excited about the game…ha! 🙂

Mary, I love your card and all the special touches and techniques. And who knew that you could color the ribbon?! I thought Super Bowl was great, although I respect Finn’s reaction! – Ellie

    • It was a really good game right up to the last second! A try cliffhanger!! Thanks so much, Ellie!! And….Happy Birthday! 🙂

      • Ellie Peckler

        Thank you, Mary.

P.S. When will the new Salebration products be revealed?!

      • They’ll be available to customers on the 16th! I should get mine today sometime (probably at 5 or so if UPS holds true!!) and will perhaps do a quick FB Live video to give the peek!! 😉

  3. Kate

LOL.. the bird sentiment cracked me up too!
I watched to the end…albeit ff’d through a bunch. And, happily, don’t have to go to work. Just the usual “try to figure it out” routine. Come to think of it, might just as soon go to work.
Finn the non-fan. Clara shared his enthusiasm.

    • I’m getting more and more interested in needing to have to figure it out! I have no fear that I could fill my time! Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  4. Kathy L

Those bright colors picked me right up! And I love that vellum balloon. That “early bird” sentiment is reason enough to get the whole set. Sweet card!

  5. Susan K

I love that sentiment and your cute card. I’ll look forward to pics of Finn watching the Puppy Bowl.

    • We’ll see if he watches – he’s a little afraid Mom and Dad might get another child – and he’s sort of a fan of being an “only”!! Thanks much, Susan! 🙂

  6. HA! I am sure Finn spoke for many 2-legged non-fans of football as well.
super cute card! My set should arrive tomorrow, if they can plow through the snow to get here.
My fav of the commercials was the Alexa lost her voice! Of course, I was reading half the time and only half watching the rest of the time, so probably missed as many as I actually saw.

    • I loved that one! But – YouTube the Eli Manning commercials – they were all really fun, especially the last one!! Thanks – and hope your set arrives!! 🙂
