Stampin’ Up! True Gentleman Hedgehugs

Good morning, y’all!  I think it’s Hawwmp day…right??  Which means it’s practically the weekend which means it’s practically a three-day weekend!  Thank you, thank you, Mr. King!  A friend of mine and I decided via e-mail yesterday that there’s a looooong time between holidays at this time of year, unless you get MLK day and President’s Day off.  So…hunker down, y’all – and get ready for some 5-day weeks!

My card for today uses the fun new set called Hedgehugs in the new catalog.  I paired it with some True Gentleman DSP and a few other little goodies.  Take a look-see:

The layout is from this week’s Global Design Project CASE the Designer challenge.

I started with some True Gentleman DSP and Fast Fuse’d it to a Night of Navy panel for the card front.  The smaller panel, which is Very Vanilla, I embossed in the Woodland TIEF, matted it on Night of Navy and Fast Fuse’d it to the card front.

I doubled a length of Night of Navy 1/2″ Gingham Ribbon and tied a piece of Linen Thread around the end – then used a Glue Dot to adhere it to the card front.

The little Hedgehugs image is stamped in Soft Suede on Very Vanilla card stock.  I used my Early Espresso Watercolor Pencil to lightly shade the hedeghog.  The flower is colored with my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Marker.  Then I cut it out with the new Starburst Punch.

I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add the sentiment in Night of Navy to the bottom of the punched circle.

I punched two more Starburst circles – one in Gold Foil and one from Wood Textures DSP.  Then I pulled out my Leaf Punch and punched a Very Vanilla, Gold Foil and Wood Textures leaf.  I popped the Gold Foil Starburst circle onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then I added the Wood Textures and Gold Foil Starburst punches and the leaves with Liquid Glue and Dimensionals.

Aaaand…then I remembered I’d meant to put some loops of Linen Thread under the art.  So…I looped a few loops, and sort of shoved them underneath the circles.  Then I shoved a couple of Glue Dots in there, too, to hold it all in place.

Don’t be like me.  Add the loops before you stick everything down.

Much.

Easier!

I finished it all off with a few heart shaped Gold Metallic Enamel Shapes and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp a second Hedgehugs sentiment in Night of Navy in the middle of a Very Vanilla panel.  I used one of the flower images – coloring the stamp directly with my Daffodil Delight and Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Write Markers – and added it near the sentiment.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Night of Navy mat and into my Thick Very Vanilla card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got two more of the Hedgehugs flowers…yes.  I added the first one in the wrong corner.  I hope folks will just think I’m quirk-ily artistic! 😉

…and I added some more True Gentleman DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  How cute is this little Hedgehugs hog?  And the fonts of the sentiments are really good – I love them!  I hope this card persuades you to add Hedgehugs to your list of must-haves!  And – I hope you like! 🙂
