Stampin’ Up! Snowy Waterfront Night

Good morning, y’all!  I’m sort of betting I didn’t win the Big Lottery last night, so this isn’t my farewell blog…

Not that I’d quit making cards or blogging if I won.  Nope.  I’d still be right here – OTHER things would go away! 😉

My card – speaking of – uses the wonderful new stamp set called Waterfront.  Once again, I let a sample in the 2018 Occasions catalog inspire me.  Take a look-see:

I played along with the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge – welcome back, y’all! – going across the top and on the diagonal from the bottom left…

I started with a Dapper Denim panel and stamped the wonderful perfect awesome Pine trees image (y’all – I have a new favorite!!) across the panel about mid-way down.  I stamped the image twice without re-inking several times, to create a forest.  Then I pulled out my Whisper White Craft Ink pad.

I stamped the moon first and then started adding “snow” – this is a wonderful image in the Waterfront stamp set.  I also added drifts of snow across the bottom.  Once I had it as snowy as I wanted it to be, I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Whisper White mat and then to a Dapper Denim mat.

I used some Liquid Glue to adhere a few loops of Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine to the card front in preparation for the rest of the elements.

I stamped the Waterfront sentiment in Whisper White Craft Ink on a piece of Dapper Denim and cut it out with a Stitched Shapes Framelit.  When it was dry, it was a little lighter than I wanted – so I traced the words with a non-Stampin’ Up! White Gel Pen.

I also cut a larger circle of Dapper Denim with a Stitched Shapes Framelits die, and stamped more of the Waterfront trees in Dapper Denim.

Finally, I cut a slightly larger scalloped circle in Whisper White and a snowflake from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.  I adhered all the pieces together with Liquid Glue and popped it over the Baker’s Twine with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  A White Perfect Accents dot in the middle of the snowflake finished off the card front.

On the inside, I stamped the second sentiment from the Waterfront set in Dapper Denim on a Whisper White panel and added more of the trees across the bottom.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Dapper Denim mat and into my Thick Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Dapper Denim Waterfront trees on the front…

…and then I added more snow – in Dapper Denim – across the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Y’all!!  Oh.  My.  Goodness!  This was a stamp set that instantly drew ooh’s, aah’s and a really unseemly number of whoo-hooo’s when it was introduced at OnStage.  And I guess you can see why!  I LOVE this set!!  And I hope you do, too – and are busily clicking on it in the product list below to get it for yourself!!

Finn Fan Fix

It’s been rather miserably cold here.  Now – admittedly, we have no snow (which you can decide if that’s a good thing or a bad thing – we kind of like not having snow!) – and we’re not in the middle of a “bomb cyclone”.  Who named it that anyway?!?

But – it’s cold.  And one of the consequences of the cold is frozen water troughs and buckets for the horses.  Which leads to lots of giant…ICE CUBES!  All over the place (from where we toss the ice out).

Well.  The man loves him some ice cubes!  When we get ice out of the freezer in the house he hears it and comes running to get one.

Imagine…ice cubes from horse water! Just a little icky and oh-so-yummy to crunch and munch.

Or…toss around and play with…

Funny little man.

  1. Oh my goodness, what a beautiful card! Love the blue and white color scheme and the clean design is perfect! 🙂

  2. Elisha

Love this card!! The moon looks so real! Pretty sure I NEED this stamp set😀 Giant ice cubes are the best lol! Too cute! It’s been so cold here in Ohio that we have to put Killian’s boots on him – it’s always the funniest thing watching him walk in his boots the first few times😂 Stay warm!

    • Yes – you absolutely DO need this set – cuz you can also do beachy/tropical scenes with the palm trees! MY goof-ball refused to come back in with me this morning and is sitting on the golf card bench enjoying the 25deg weather. Sheesh! Thanks, Elisha! 🙂

  3. Page 48, the bag, right? My comment from yesterday still stands! Our daughter and son-in-love’s dog goes nuts with the ice cubes too. If he’s being a pest with company, all they have to do is run the ice maker…they do that a lot when the have company … pest or not! Have a wonderful weekend.

    • That’s the one! I got the idea for the Dapper/White scene from it and went from there! It’s interesting that some dogs want that ice and other…meh! Buck was a “meh” dog. Finn…not so much! He’s a GIMME!! Thanks much, Karen – enjoy the weekend! 🙂

  4. Beautiful card. Only I would call it snowy forest. Why is it called waterfont anyway?
You think it is cold there…..-13 this morning! Supposed to be 30 tomorrow! Just when I am getting used to the cold! Ah, wll.
Stay warm. Taking care of critters in the cold is NO fun. I remember those days well. We had hogs and cattle. Put the oil burning tank heater in the stock tank to give them a little hole from which to drink. Then we got MODERN and got an electrically heated hog waterer. Those were the days.

    • We had a tank heater – and my TB liked to paw the trough – yes, even when it was 20 outside. The tank heater couldn’t take it! 😉 Thanks, Julie! I guess it’s Waterfront cuz of the palm trees? Whatever it is – I love it! 🙂

  5. Kate

Love this card! Wintry night with moon as its been just now and a perfect sentiment.
Ice cubes. Pretty cheap treat. Silly guy.

    • Yep – you buy them all the fun treats and toys – and all they really need is a giant ice cube! LOL! Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  6. Pat Christ

Pretty card. This stamp set caught my eye as soon as I saw it in the catty, a must have!
I love your Finn stories, makes me smile every time. Playing with ice in cold weather? BRR.

  7. Wendie Waldman

    Absolutely stunning!

  8. Dorene Donaldson

    Stunning!!!!

  9. Susan K

Oh. My. Goodness is right! Gorgeous card. You improved on the sample!
Funny Finn! It’s too cold to play with ice!

  10. Mary your creativity continues to astound and inspire me! I never would have thought to make a night scene with this set! I totally overlooked the sample in the catalog. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful creativity.

  11. Ellie Peckler

Mary, your card is beautiful. I love the tone on tone, the craft white ink and the perfect snowflake die cut. So glad you were teasing about a farewell blog – that would never do! – Ellie

    • I know! I’d get rid of the other time-sink to be able to have more time for the fun business!! Like – card making, blogging and FB Live-ing!! Thanks so much, Ellie! 🙂

  12. Mary,
