Stampin’ Up! Bottles, Bubbles and a Picture Perfect Birthday!

Well.  Here we are!  The very last day of 2017!  Hard to believe.  When next we meet, it’ll be 2018.

Hope you have a fun evening planned.  Our will be like all the past New Year’s Eves….and will look one heck of a lot like any other night!  We sometimes wake up around midnight – but….it’s not a priority for us, for certain sure!

In case you’re wondering, I won’t be doing a video tonight – we’ll start up again in 2018.  So I’ll see you “next year”!

My card for today uses a couple of fun new stamp sets and framelits from the 2018 Occasions Catalog.  I started with the Bubble Over bundle, featuring the Bubble Over stamp set and Bottles & Bubbles Framelits, and I added a sentiment from the Picture Perfect Birthday set.  Take a look-see:

I played along with two challenges for this one – the first is the December Designer’s Delight challenge from TGIF Challenges.

I selected Maria Willis’ card to CASE – you can check it out right here!

My color scheme is from the MFT Color Challenge this week.

I started with a Dapper Denim card base and embossed the front in the new Scattered Sequins Dynamic TIEF.

For my next panel, I cut a piece of True Gentleman DSP and Fast Fuse’d it to a Peekaboo Peach mat.

Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere a Peekaboo Peach panel across the card front.  Next up – another piece of Dapper Denim, once again embossed in the Scattered Sequins Dynamic TIEF.

I inked all but the very top of the large bottle stamp from Bubble Over in Peekaboo Peach and stamped it on Very Vanilla.  Then I cut it with the matching die from the Bottles & Bubbles Framelits.  I stamped a “label” in Dapper Denim and cut it with it’s die, then adhered it over the bottle with Liquid Glue.  I also cut a round Very Vanilla piece and a Peekaboo Peach heart.  I adhered the heart to the circle with Liquid Glue and popped the whole thing on with a Stampin’ Dimensional.  Then I added a Dapper Denim Enamel Shape heart.

For the Bubble Over sentiment, I stamped it in Dapper Denim on a strip of Very Vanilla.  Across the bottom, I ran a length of Myths & Magic Specialty Washi Tape.  I added the banner to the card front with Liquid Glue, then added the bottle with some Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals. I popped the whole card front onto the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For my bubbles, I stamped the image twice on Very Vanilla in stamped-off-once Dapper Denim and cut them with the fun little bubble die in the Bottles & Bubbles Framelits then adhered them with Liquid Glue.  To finish things off, I stuck on a bunch of round shapes from the Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes to the bubbles.  And added some of the teardrop shapes to the bottle – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used the bubbles image again – this time stamping it off twice before stamping the center of a Very Vanilla panel. I added the sentiment from Picture Perfect Birthday in Dapper Denim.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Peekaboo Peach mat and into the Dapper Denim card base and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got some more Dapper Denim bubbles on the front – I stamped the image twice without re-inking…

…and some more True Gentleman DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  When I first saw this Bubble Over set, I wasn’t really sure about it – but…it’s growing on me real quick!  I love all the bottle and label and sentiment possibilities – and the Bottles & Bubbles Framelits is so much fun!  Hope you like!

TTFN – until 2018!

Finn Fan Fix

One of the things I’ve taught Finn to do – and encouraged – is to run between my legs.  I don’t know why.  It seemed like a good idea – and fun! – at the time!

As a smart Man, he will offer to do things that he knows I like – whether I’ve asked for them or not.

All in the hope that I’ve got a cookie in my pocket.

Which, of course, I usually do!

This morning, he graced me with…

But he only went half way.  And then just stopped.  And stared off into the distance.

We may never know why! 🙂

  1. Your card is cute and colorful…so is Finn 🙂 Happy New Year! We always say we aren’t going to stay up but we usually do. It’s not like it used to be when Dick Clark and Lawrence Welk were alive and they had decent entertainment.

    • Yep – and even if they HAVE good entertainment now, there’s so many commercials….how the heck are you supposed to stay awake during a commercial!?!? Thanks so much, Karen and Happy New Year to you!! 🙂

  2. So cute! Love the bubbles and the little epoxy drops, perfect embellishments for and awesome card! Happy New Year! 🙂

  3. Karen Ksenakovic

Love your card. I really like that layout and colors together.

  4. Kate

Great card for the new year. Your celebration mimics mine! Except unless some yahoo defies the ban and shoots off a fire work, I pass on the midnight wake up.
Betting if Finn stops mid-way one time too many you will wind up sitting on him. A revolting development that would be!

    • LOL – yep, I don’t think that would work out well for either one of us!! 🙂 Thanks, Mom – and here’s wishing you a Happy New Year’s Eve, with uninterrupted sleep! 🙂

  5. May I ask…where are the rest of Amy’s crew? I hope everyone is ok.

    Blessings, Ginger

    • Hey Ginger – of course you may ask! All are well – most were on the Blog Hop on Thursday – Kristi is on vacation! Thank you for your concern! Have a very Happy New Year! 🙂

  6. Mary, what a super fun and fabulous card! I love how it is full of awesome details. A big thanks for playing along with us at TGIF this week. Smiles, Elizabeth

    • Thanks so much, Elizabeth – it was fun to make! Appreciate the continued fun challenges and y’all taking time to come by and leave comments! Have a Happy New Year! 🙂

  7. This is really a fun card, Mary. The jury has been out on this set, but I am getting closer to thinking it is a ‘must have’. Lots of possibilities for it. Of course, perfect for New Years. I am invited out, but due to -24 Wind Chill and even colder predicted for tonight, I think I will stay in my cozy home. If I am up, I will leave a message for everyone on the Inkin Krew Page.
    Between the legs was fun when he was LITTLE! Now???? :>}

    • Yea – ya kinda gotta brace for him! 😉 -24. Un. Acceptable. I think I’ll stay down here in the South where “cold” is in the single digits (but still without that “-” in front!!). Have a safe and Happy New Year, my friend. See you in 2018!! 🙂

Mary what an awesome card! I love how you only inked part of the bottle. Great idea! Thanks so much for playing with TGIF Challenges this week!

    • Thanks so much, Tami – learned that one from my friend Amy! Appreciate the fun challenges and that you took the time to stop by and leave a comment! 🙂

  9. Fantastic card Mary! I love all of the details from the embossing, to the mostly stamped soda bottle to the fun way you decked the bottle out. I’m flattered that you chose to case my card for this challenge. Thank you and I’m so glad you’ve played along with this week at TGIF Challenges! Happy New Year!

  10. I love your card Mary. The colour combo is spot on.

  11. Cathy Caines

Well Mary I truly hope your day will bubble over with happiness. I love your card but love the inside the best!!! Thanks for playing along with TGIF… and thanks.. now I may need to get that bubble stamp!
