Stampin’ Up! Count My Blessings CAS Acorns

Mornin’, y’all!  It’s Friday.  Finally.  It’s been a heckuva week.  I know there are still folks in FL and TX for whom Friday or Tuesday makes no never mind – and I’m awfully sorry for that.  You have my continued prayers for better days – and power!! – ahead!

My card today is a quick and easy one – that’s also clean-and-simple.  It uses the Count My Blessings stamp set and a few other little goodies to help out.  Take a look-see:

This one played with a couple of challenges.  The first is from Stamp Ink Paper and was the impetus for the clean-and-simple Fall theme.

And the second, from the Sugar Pea Designs Mix It Up Challenge, gave me my layout.

I started out with a piece of leaf-strewn paper from the Painted Autumn DSP and covered it with a piece of Vellum card stock in the same card-front size.  I used Fine-Tip Glue to adhere the Vellum – being sure to only put the glue under the middle portion of the Vellum in order to keep the glue from showing through.  Then I Fast Fuse’d the panel on a Cajun Craze mat.

The sentiment, from Count My Blessings, is heat embossed in Copper Embossing Powder on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  That piece of card stock is slightly smaller than the next layer – which is another square of Very Vanilla.  I used my Circles Layering Frameltis die to cut a circle from this square – then I embossed the panel in the Layered Leaves Dynamic TIEF.  With the de-bossed side up, I popped the square over the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Using the same size circle die and the next larger scalloped circle die, I cut a Copper Foil frame and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

On a scrap of Very Vanilla, I stamped the Count My Blessings acorn image in Versamark Ink, sprinkled it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up.  Using my Blender Pens and Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Old Olive ink pads, I colored the acorns and leaves.  Then I fussy cut the image and adhered it with Liquid Glue (and a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional under the leaf) to the panel.

I repeated the Copper embossed image on another panel of Very Vanilla card stock, colored just the acorns, and fussy cut them.  I lightly rolled the acorns around a pen to give them some dimension – and then popped them over the first image with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.  To finish it off, I tied a small bow with two lengths of Linen Thread and two lengths of Copper Metallic Thread, and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

On the inside, I used the Count My Blessings acorn image again.  I inked it with Crumb Cake, stamped it off once on scrap paper, and stamped it in the middle of a Very Vanilla panel.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Cajun Craze mat and into my Thick Very Vanilla card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

The front of my Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another stamped-off-once Crumb Cake acorn from Count My Blessings…

…and then I added more of the Painted Autumn DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love how this acorn from Count My Blessings looks embossed in Copper and fussy cut.  Especially against the simple embossed panel and Copper sentiment.  Hope you like!

Finn-Fan Fix

We’re an America’s Got Talent household.

We don’t have any particular telent – oh, no.

We like to watch the show.

Don’t judge.

Last night, while we were watching, a dog act came on the screen.

Finn, who was, at the time, allowing me to hold his chew bone while he chewed it….stopped.  Looked over his shoulder with his lips caught in his teeth.

Then he raced over to the tv.

And watched….

aaaannnnndddd….watched…..

“wonder what the judges think…..”

Finally just gave up and sat down to watch in comfort.

I was laughing so hard (behind my hand and trying to hold it in so as to not offend…) that I was absolutely in tears!

Funny little kid.

  1. lol So Funny! I love your card. The texture and details are spot on!

  2. Beautiful card Mary! I love the copper touches and your acorn images are stunning! That story about Finn totally cracked me up, Ginny does that when we turn on any TV show with dogs (Animal Planet, Westminster Dog Show, whatever!). She can watch it for hours…puppies are crazy! 🙂

    • Thanks, Amy! It’s a beautiful stamp set! He’s watched – from afar – some other shows on the tv. But never like this!! LOL! 🙂

  3. Kate

    Really lovely card!!!
ROFL and no offense possible from this distance. ..nor intended!.. I think you could sell this to one of those vendors of videos for dogs/cats. I, frankly, never believed they would really watch, but stand corrected.

  4. Elisha

Beautiful card! I love the layer of vellum and the art piece is perfection! Well done! We are AGT fans too🙄 I wonder how Finn felt when the Pompeyo family was eliminated😕 I guess he’ll have to root for Hero next week! 😂 Personally, the ventriloquist blows my mind! Have a GREAT weekend, Mary! Thanks for all you do!!

    • Yes – we like Hero better anyway! And we love Darcy, too!! Can’t wait to see how far she goes. Thanks so much, Elisha – enjoy your weekend, too! 🙂

  5. So funny! I was LOL too.
Beautiful card. I love this stamp set. It is under used in my opinion. Love your copper!
Give me trees, and anything on a tree, plaid, copper, I’m happy.

  6. Well, you already know I love the card AND I’m going to order the stamp set. AND you MUST know how glad I am to be seeing FFF posts! I have a lot of catching up to do!!

  7. Another absolutely beautiful card. Finn seems completely enthralled!! <3

  8. Kathy Beaver

My brother had a dachshund, Amos, that loved to watch Turner and Hooch. He’d stand with his feet on the tv stand and back whenever Hooch came on.k

  9. Wow!! Gorgeous card Mary! I love the vellum and copper elements you used. The pics of Finn watching the dog act is just adorable!! Thank you so much for joining us this week at Stamp Ink Paper 🙂

  10. Pam Kucab

I’m a little slow at commenting on your card, but I absolutely LOVE it. It’s so beautiful. Clean and simple, but just enough to give it the detail I go for. I look forward to your card posts! And the FFF’s! Thanks, Mary! And glad you weathered the storm with minimal damage. We were spared in NC, thankfully.

    • I’m really happy to hear that, Pam! For a while there, there was simply no telling where Irma was going to strike! Thank to so much, Pam – I appreciate it! 🙂

  11. Love the warmth of the copper and the softness of the DSP. As for your dog….. that made me smile! Thanks so much for joining us at SugarPea!
