Stampin’ Up! At Home With You in the City!

Happy post-Eclipse Day!  I hope you enjoyed the event yesterday, wherever you were.  We pretty much watched it on television – cuz they were showing some pretty spectacular images!  Pretty cool.

My card today is the one that I gave to Matt on Sunday – with a couple of gift cards in it – Home Depot and Bed, Bath and Beyond.  Both seemed appropriate for setting up a new house!  I used the In the City host-exclusive set, and a bunch of elements from the At Home With You bundle.  On the inside is a sentiment from the Home Life stamp set.  Take a look-see:

I designed the card based on the FabFriday challenge – making a pocket for the gift cards.

If you look – the gift cards are the “embellishment” on the right side. 🙂

I started with a Crumb Cake card base, and stamped a couple of the images from the In The City stamp set in Crumb Cake across the front.

The angled panel is a piece of Crushed Curry that I embossed in the Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF and then added some faux stitches with my Cajun Craze Stampin’ Write Marker.

I stamped the door from the At Home With You set in Early Espresso onto a piece of Wood Textures DSP and cut it out with the die in the matching At Home Framelits.

I popped the Crushed Curry panel onto the card base with Foam Adhesive Strips (I only used the foam on the top, bottom and left side – leaving the right side open for my gift cards) and then adhered the cut door with Liquid Glue.

Then I got busy decorating my front door.  I stamped all the images from the At Home With You set in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla.  I pulled out a plethora of Stampin’ Write Markers to color everything:  Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Pear Wild Wasabi, and Tangerine Tango.

Once everything was colored and cut out with their matching dies in the At Home Framelits, I adhered everything with Liquid Glue and some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For my sentiment, I cut the word using the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits – cutting three of them from Cajun Craze and stacking them with Liquid Glue.  I brushed it with my Clear Wink of Stella and adhered it to the front with Liquid Glue.

I added a little Linen Thread Bow and a Touches of Nature Element with Liquid Glue.  Sticking my gift cards in completed the card!

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from the Home Life stamp set in Cajun Craze on a Very Vanilla mat.  Over the sentiment, I added more images from In the City in Crumb Cake.

I added some more faux stitches in Cajun Craze, Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Crushed Curry mat and then into the card base, and that was it for the card.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more In the City Crumb Cake images across the front.

…and then I added some more Wood Textures DSP to the envelope flap.

Congrats on Your New Home - Stamps-N-Lingers 6

Et Voila!  There’s more than one way to give someone some gift cards, yes?  And it seemed awfully appropriate to use the At Home With You bundle, Home Life and the In the City host-set.  I know Matt liked the card – it even got a spot on the refrigerator in his new house!  Hope you like, too!

Finn-Fan Fix

So, today, while Wayne and I were looking thru a double-filtered welding helmet watching the not-to-be-seen-again-for-7-years eclipse, Finn was…bored.

I mean – nothing was happening.  It wasn’t particularly dark.

No aliens showed up.

No angels sang – no power went out.

Pretty nondescript kind of day.

This is how his sister dealt with the event.

Wishful thinking.  We were hoping to see this…

IMG_9515

What we really saw was….dim.

Just…dimness everywhere for about 2 minutes.  Even looking at the sun – we saw no corona.  No “diamond ring”.  Just a sliver of sun.

Kind of a let-down.

Finn’s response?

Let’s pull something out of the garden and see if anyone notices…

  1. Cool card! Love the idea of the pocket for the gift cards on the front. I’m sure that he loved your gift too! Finn and I had the same reaction to all of the excitement…although mine was more of a pull something out of my stamp room thing. 😉

    • Yep – he didn’t mind the gift cards at all! We watched the eclipse some – but weren’t glued to it, for sure! Thanks much, Amy! 🙂

  2. Your card is lovely for the upcoming season and very creative for the event. I have those stamp sets and wondered why I chose In the City…must have been ESP to CASE your card…if I ever get around to it! Finn’s expression is priceless.

  3. I love the added faux stitching, this card is really awesome. Neat idea for the gift cards, too. Super for the occasion.

  4. Ellie Peckler

Mary, what a great card for a new home owner. Love all the fall colors you used. Glad Finn amused himself during the eclipse! – Ellie

  5. Great card and neat way to add the gift cards. For a guy to put it on his fridge means SOMETHING! Apparently he was impressed too (though I am sure the gift cards didn’t hurt a bit!)
Love your color choices, and your stitching is as near perfect as one can get with a marker.

  6. Kate

Clara slept through the entire event.

  7. Pat Christ

Love the autumn colors on your card. And the FFF…too funny, what a character!

  8. OK, this is a super cute new home card 0 great idea, and with a fall theme, too! Love your coloring! Thanks so much for playing at Fab Friday!

  9. So many cute details on your card! Love the Pinewood Planks texture, the faux stitiching and the In the City background! A wonderful card to celebrate a new house! Thanks for sharing at Fab Friday!
