Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  If you’ve been following along, you’ll know this is a color challenge week – I hope you’ll take a few minutes to browse all the projects brought to you by the talented ladies in our hop group! 🙂

Here’s our color scheme – definitely one that’s in my wheelhouse!

I used the Succulent Garden Suite of goodies to make my card – the Succulent Garden DSP, Oh So Succulent stamp set and the Succulents Framelits.  I know it’s kind of an obvious choice with these colors – maybe too obvious – but….it’s obvious for a reason, okay?? 🙂  Take a look-see:

I used the Mojo Monday sketch challenge to help with my card layout.

mm-483
To begin, I matted three different designs from the Succulent Garden DSP on Old Olive card stock, then I SNAILd the smaller panels to the card front.

Then I made a sentiment panel – stamping the Oh So Succulent sentiment in Old Olive on Whisper White.  The sentiment image was too long for what I was doing, so I inked the first part only, stamped it, cleaned the stamp, inked the second half – and stamped it under the first image.

I matted it on Old Olive and SNAILd it in place.

Using a piece of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon, I ran a length across the card, securing it in the back with scotch tape.  I used a second piece and pulled all the strands out, wrapped them around the ribbon on the card, and tied a tight knot.

Next, I added the Lace Doily with the Whisper White Side up.

All that remained was to build my succulent flower!  I cut two of each of the three sizes of flowers – one each in Old Olive and Mint Macaron.  Then I used the little “end” stamps in the Oh So Succulent stamp set and stamped the little tips in Whisper White Craft Ink.  I used my Bone Folder to lightly curl all the tips of the flowers and then stacked them up with Liquid Glue.

The center is a few Mint Macaron flowers – the ones that look a little like daisies – adhered with Liquid Glue.

Wait a hot second!!  What’s that in the middle?

That, my friends, is a little flower cut with the new (available-to-customers on 21 Feb) Sale-A-Bration Glimmer Paper!  That paper will come in Mint Macaron, Bermuda Bay and Sweet Sugarplum!

I cut that Mint Macaron Glimmer Paper flower and added it in with a little more Liquid Glue, adhered the flower to the card front with Liquid Glue – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Oh So Succulent sentiment in Old Olive on a Whisper White panel.  In the bottom corner, I added a couple of succulent flowers.  I stamped the middle flower first, using Old Olive for the outline and Mint Macaron for the fill image.  Then I stuck a sticky note mask (that I’d remembered to save from the last time I used this set!), and added two smaller flowers.  Those are stamped in Tip Top Taupe for the outline and stamped-off-once Tip Top Taupe for the fill.

I SNAILd the panel to an Old Olive mat and into my Tip Top Taupe card base, SNAILd the card front on, and the card was done!

I added the same three Oh So Succulent flowers to the front of my Whisper White Envelope…

…and gave the envelope flap a little more of the Succulent Garden DSP.

Et Voila!  An organic and earthy card, made with one of my favorite suites in the Occasions catalog – the Succulent Garden!  Hope you like!

  1. Absolutely stunning Mary! I love that flower and the doily peeking out under it is perfect. The touch of glimmer paper is fabulous! 🙂

  2. Such a tease you are with the new glimmer paper! I am waiting until the 21st when I can get it free, rather than paying for it. But, I AM showing our card group the flyer today unless my upline beats me to it. If she received hers, then they’ll have two to look at 🙂 Win/win! Love your card. Not sure how long I can resist buying that set. Enjoy your day.

  3. This turned out beautifully, Mary. I love the layers of the succulent and that glimmer paper is a great touch. Super design, too! I love all of those DSP layers.

  4. Your succulent flower is so pretty and I love how you used the new glimmer paper in the center. Such a pretty card.
