Stampin’ Up! Swan Lake Any Occasion Card!

Mornin’, y’all!  I hope this find you safe and sound after yesterday’s wild weather in so many parts of the country!  We got rain.

And more rain.

And then wind.

And rain.

Our pond overflowed the spillway.  Got some water in the basement.  But – overall, could have been much worse.

Finn’s day was messed up.  I didn’t get up as usual, cuz I felt like crap.  He went to feed with his dad in the morning, but they couldn’t go on their run cuz it was freakin’ pouring.  He did spend a little time outside playing when we had a weather break.  And we were able to give him an evening run.  But…the whole schedule was just…messed up! 🙁

I parked the golf cart at the end of the walk in preparation for the last “do” on the horses.  Mr. Finn didn’t want to come in with us – the night was lovely after the rain moved out.  This is what I found when I went back to check and see if he was ready to grace us with his presence.

Just chilllin’, Mom!  I’m good.  🙂

My card for today is a card you could give for any reason or “just because”!  It uses a new stamp set – this is my first time playing with the pretty Swan Lake set.  My friend Jari did a card the other day using the Annual Catalog Blooms & Bliss DSP – reminding me how pretty that paper is, so I used a little of it, too.  Take a look-see:

My card layout is from the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge this week – I just turned it on its side.

cts-205

I started with some of the Island Indigo and Mint Macaron paper from Blooms & Bliss, SNAILing it on a Mint Macaron mat.  Then I adhered a Lace Doily with the Whisper White side up, using some dabs of Liquid Glue.

Then there’s another Mint Macaron panel and another piece of Blooms & Bliss, all SNAILd to the card front.

I wrapped some Blushing Bride Solid Baker’s Twine three times around the card front, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

For my art work, I pulled out the Swan Lake stamp set and, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, stamped the floral arch across the top of my Whisper White panel in Sahara Sand.  It’s lightly colored in with Stampin’ Write Markers in Mint Macaron, Pear Pizzazz, Blushing Bride, and So Saffron.

I added the Swan Lake sentiment in Island Indigo.

The swan and swan-lings (?) are stamped in Smoky Slate ink.  Then I made a sticky note mask of both images, and used them to add the cattail image “behind” the swans in Sahara Sand.

Then I lightly colored the images with Stampin’ Write Markers in Mint Macaron, Pumpkin Pie, Sahara Sand and Island Indigo.

I SNAILd the panel to a Mint Macaron mat and then added it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals – and that was it for the front of the card!

On the inside, I added the cattail image to a Whisper White panel in Sahara Sand and colored it lightly.  And added a second Swan Lake sentiment in Island Indigo.

I SNAILd the panel to a Mint Macaron mat and into my So Saffron card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got the Swan Lake cattail on the front (I love this little image!)…

…and some more of the Blooms & Bliss DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Isn’t this Swan Lake a pretty stamp set?  I can see a lot of different cards made with this one!  Hope you like!

  1. That image turned out perfectly Mary! I love the soft coloring on the flowers, perfectly stamped and layered too! 🙂

  2. When I saw this stamp in the catalog I didn’t think too much of it. It’s amazing what a sketch, colors and talent can do for it. The cygnets are so cute but the choice of “swanlings” is even cuter 🙂 We had beautiful weather in sunny Florida yesterday. It’s supposed to rain today so I think I’ll make cards and watch football. Happy Sunday!

    • Thanks, Karen – it’s kind of a “sleeper” set, I think! Ducks – Ducklings, Geese – Goslings. Swans – Swanlings!! Only makes sense! 😉

  3. Mom

Hope you feel better today and have less (ar least) rain today. HATE water in the basement. Been there. Finn is catching on, seems to me.
And still, a beautiful card to share. And it is beautiful indeed!

Lovely card, Mary. I have this set on my wish list. (probably any bird related stamp would be on my list!)
The colors you chose go so well with the stamps.

  5. The swans are so cute following along! I love the pretty cattails, too! I am a fan of them as they grow so many places in Florida, wish we had some nearer us!

  6. Oh, this is so pretty! Super sweet take on the sketch!
